  1. It depends on which version of Retroarch you are using on how this is achieved. 1.3.6 has a per core configuration in the Settings > Configuration menu. Newer versions now have it in the Quick menu for each core. Load a core and then bring up the quick menu (F1) and at the bottom of there you should see Save Core and Save Game Overrides.
  2. Nope, you shouldn't see much if any difference at all really. You aren't loading in large environments like in modern PC games.
  3. Western Digital has sort of become the standard hard drive manufacturer for most everyone. The "black" models are more expensive but also more robust and reliable, it's what I use as my OS hard drive. The "blue" models are cheaper and reliable enough for storage and general use. All mechanical drives of course can fail because of moving parts but overall I (and many others) have been using WD drives for years with very few failures.
  4. Try setting your refresh rate in the config to match your monitors which I am guessing is 120 Hz. With my G-Sync setup disbaling V-Sync introduced that same stutter you described but setting my refresh rate in the config to 144 Hz solved it. I agree with you about the Royale shaders (especially the Kurozumi version), they look great and of course shaders are all about personal preference. I just found the Aperture one to be a great all around balance of great looking and only a single pass so it's very light weight. I'm really not a fan of no shaders at all though, the raw upscaled pixels to me look like absolute shit, just my opinion and preference though.
  5. Not sure if this is the same thing I noticed in my setup using G-Sync or not but I found I had to go into my config and set the refresh rate to match my monitor. Try a shader that is only a single pass. I don't know what sort effect you like with shaders but I like CRT scanlines and I use the CRT-Aperture one and it is single pass and as far as I can tell it has little to no added lag. If there is some added it is so minuscule that I do not notice it at all and you would need a scientific way of measuring it to know if there is any.
  6. You will need the x86 version if your operating system is 32 bit.
  7. Do you games work in Mame outside of Launchbox ?
  8. Then something like C:\Launchbox if another drive isn't an option ? My HTPC has it installed to C:\Launchbox and it's been no problem being there.
  9. I would suggest installing to another hard drive if you have another one in your system. If not then try C:\Program Files\Launchbox
  10. Thanks for answering this @DOS76
  11. If you mean by having LB not scrape any media or metadata and then add it in manually then yes. Simply drop the media into its appropriate folders named accordingly and it will all show up.
  12. This will come in handy for some people I am sure and I added it to the Guides & Tutorials thread.
  13. You can try making a copy of your 1.3.6 install and just installing the new version over top but it is unlikely to be 100% because there was a change made in the config files with version 1.4.0 beta.
  14. Probably a cynical answer but everything is vaporware until it's actually not. In all fairness though I don't see this being terribly difficult to do for someone knowledgeable enough. I've seen seeming more complex software get made so this will most likely get released eventually.
  15. Sorry about this, it was all my fault. I banned him then unbanned him a couple minutes later. Not sure if I did it correctly though.
  16. My guess is you have downloaded the Mame.exe installer and you are pointing your Mame emulator in Launchbox to it instead of having installed it first. If you are new to Mame and getting it setup first I suggest taking a look at my tutorial for it first.
  17. Nope, there is no "star rating" in the details using the default theme.
  18. They still don't as far as I could tell but there are some vertical shaders like the pi-vertical one and some look ok on vertical games like crt-aperture.
  19. For question #2 I suggest looking at the CRT-Aperture shader but you can try others in the CRT folder to try and find one that suits your tastes. And yes you can have different shaders per core.
  20. You can try the wasapi audio driver but it's something I had no luck with. It sounded awful and I had the same issue with it in Higan. Not sure what it is about it but it might be an extremely high CPU requirement. Mine is an AMD 8350 while is not exactly high end, it's not exactly trash either.
  21. It might used as different way of hacking in custom soundtracks like MSU-1 SNES hacks. At least that's my first guess as to a potential future use for it.
  22. Just go into your drivers menu in the settings menu and change the input to raw input.
