And I guess I need a little clarification about the default theme. I deleted the banner image in platforms/<platform>/banner, but Launchbox/BigBox regenerates the image instead of picking an image from the themes folder. That makes me wonder how image picking for platforms with any given theme is supposed to work.
-
I've got quite a legacy of Launchbox media materials and after trying (and failing) to get new platform banner images applied, it may be time to get all the pictures and media put in their respective places. Is there a list or image somewhere of where things go by default these days now that themes are a thing? I still intend to keep actual game files and retroarch in their own respective folders, but media can change. BTW: I got the platform banners changed on an alternate theme, but this did not work by simply dumping the same images into the "default" theme folder structure.

Hi. I noticed that the new wall view places any game box art that does not have a tall aspect ratio (CD case) adjacent to one another with no spacing. This is true for most cartridge systems like SNES, GBA, GB, and so forth. Is there any way to adjust this or should I submit a bug?

Hi all. I saw that Retroarch has the Parallel 64 core now and wanted to get my expectations straight. I've already seen a bit of framerate drop which doesn't bother me a whit. However I had some hopes that the lower level emulation might fix some of the filtering problems nearly all N64 emulators have had, especially interface raster images. My test case is Dr. Mario 64 which uses a lot of these and it appears that unfortunately they are still choppy and muddy, although Mario 64 seems to show some improvement in the Princess Toadstool letter of invitation. Should I simply not get my hopes up for the future and assume that this is an intractable problem with rendering to CRT?

Welp. Problem fixed via a new iso file.

Oh they're synced up on start. The controller buzzes on game start. Basically it makes it to the start menu with my config and doesn't on yours. One tidbit I forgot to mention. I tried the options menu to see if there was anything to do there, but only the background of that screen loaded. No options displayed.
-
Is there a setting you have that changes the control scheme? My Wii controller won't respond at the controller caution screen. I'm looking through the config lines and only the CPU core count stands out, really. Is there a reason you're on single core?
-
Tried updating from 5.0 to the most recent website build (3463 I think) and tried a number of options including Vulkan, DX11, and DX12. No luck except that the monado animation no longer freezes. It's just that the game never loads.
-
I'll experiment some this evening or tomorrow, but I think it's not likely to be a pure performance issue. We're talking the loading animation of the Monado freezing entirely within 3 seconds. Dolphin still responds. Check that. I can exit the program (alt-F4), but I can't get the game running past the title screen.
-
Ok. If anyone else by happenstance has run into this as well, let me know.

5.0 The HTPC is Haswell i5 running a GTX 1060. Input is Wii controller via Dolphin bar. I've got Dolphin running 1080p using a 3x native backend. The problems causing issues on the disc screen are the combination of V-sync and the external frame buffer being unlimited. I haven't changed that yet, but will once I get more time to experiment. https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=Xenoblade_Chronicles#.22Reading_Disc.22_Screen_Taking_a_Long_Time One possibility is that it was just a bad rip, but I haven't run into that on other games that have had problems. So I'm a bit skeptical there.
-
Not having much luck. I did a disc rip from Homebrew's CleanRip and concatenated the two files from the SD Card. I have two issues. One, the disc loading screen taking forever, is a known issue so I'm not worried about that. However selecting new game leads the game to hang on the loading animation with the Monado. I never get to the actual game. Has this been encountered before?

Series of Unfortunate Events; Massive Data Loss Advice

I used to dual boot Mint on my laptop and got rid of it now that 80% of Linux dev I can do through the Bash subsystem. I don't even need github or putty installed. I can just ssh or do whatever on the command line. No cygwin or anything necessary. -

Thanks for the link. I think I agree with the general thrust of his argument, but I don't see a reasonable alternative there. I'm a little surprised and disappointed at the small difference between basic and full. Unfortunately, while I could go to Linux Mint again I don't think it's in the cards here. I'm not dropping Win 10 due to the increased security methods over Win 7/8. However this does give pause. -
I think it was only mode 4 (the one you want to use in Dolphin for actual Wii units) that did this.

For US residents: Ah and the news just came down the pike. US Congress just passed a law overturning FCC regulation and preventing future regulation that bars your ISP from selling your internet browsing history and data. What this will do: - Your packets can't be read on https sites. That data is already encrypted. For instance this forum's data is encrypted. - Data on non https sites are open for logging, aggregating, and passing along to your ISP whether you wish this to happen or not. - https or not, every single site you visit, if the bill is signed (it will), is visible to your ISP and your browsing habits may be passed on. To use some common examples, the fact that you visit an LGBTQ support site commonly is visible. Likewise the fact that you're visiting the Mayo Clinic's medical encyclopedia. And the fact that you visit LaunchBox frequently. - In reality it returns things to status quo ante... sort of. Strictly speaking things are the way they were before the US FCC barred ISPs from logging and selling your information. The real change is that ISPs now have the confidence that such regulations preventing them from selling data will be prohibited by law. The likelihood of ISPs engaging in this activity and compromising your data is now extremely high (they lobbied hard for this). The best practice to take, and one which I'm researching as I described, is to find a VPN that has a policy of not logging your data. This effectively blocks your ISP from sniffing anything you do. -

Yeah, that seems to be the primary candidate at this point. Tunnel Bear's free option appears to be sinking it for me as IT admins are blocking the service far too often. -
How do I delete an associated platform in Retroarch config?
Bedwyr replied to Bedwyr's topic in Troubleshooting
Ah. I didn't realize it was that simple. The list looks like it has entries in it that can be renamed but not removed entirely and is deleted elsewhere. I didn't realize that if it was empty LB automatically deletes the empty line in the UI when you reload the emulator settings.- 3 replies

How do I delete an associated platform in Retroarch config?
Bedwyr posted a topic in Troubleshooting
I was cross testing Retroarch cores in Launchbox awhile back and have one test platform I named "giggity" (yes, Family Guy reference) left like a vestigial organ. That fake platform has a SNES core associated with it, but I'm not sure how to get rid of the thing now even though it doesn't serve a purpose. Doesn't do any harm; I'm just tired of seeing "giggity" at the bottom of the list.- 3 replies

I have another romhack question. I just rejected a Sonic Classic Heroes entry as the research said it was a rom hack. But then I vaguely recall that Sega's relationship with the hacking community is better than average. Have any of these fan games gotten official sanction that I'm not aware of?

Still not completely following. I've got the actual Wiimote connected via "real Wiimote" which is unconfigurable. The other two options are emulated Wiimote and hybrid Wiimote. Is it possible to configure the XB1 controller to operate as the Classic Pro while still using the Wiimote otherwise?
