Lmagnus87 said Everything new for Launchbox is an excellent news lol... well, that's great... I thought maybe we could talk about specifics though. To me, as a casual observer, no one, including the LaunchBox developer, really seems to know how this feature works or what it is good for. At a glance it seems to be on just about the same level as we have always used RL with LB. I'm sure, though, that this isn't the case and I'm just not understanding it.

For the button assignment to use controller input in LB, I need to be able to assign keyboard buttons, as the buttons on my arcade controller are keyboard output.

Never mind... it was another problem related to the change in image directory structure. I figured it out... just going to delete the platform and start fresh. -
Resolved - Steam Banners Not Importing - Informational
Drybonz replied to Drybonz's topic in Troubleshooting
I am trying to download all Steam banners for my Windows platform, however about half of them are missing banners. These are games that are in my Steam library. If I try to download the banner for an individual game from which it is missing, it says the banner is available for download... but nothing happens... no image is imported. -
Old school would be Ultima... more recently Dark Souls.

Jason Carr said I still have plenty of bugs to fix and such, but thought I might as well put out what I got in there today. I did find a bug with the image migration process where the platform image folder paths end up looking like this: ..\LaunchBox\Images\.. I wonder if that is the problem I have been having with my images, that I mentioned previously?
-
Hm... I'm not sure I see the real advantage to this.

Hey guys... would love to see some wheel logos, backglass images and playfield images in the database for pinball emulation.

Anyone know how this works, exactly?
-
Nice... gonna update mine and check it out. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks for the reply... yes, I have them extracted properly. I tried another theme other than Clean Hardware last night and it did work. There were elements missing... I assume I have to supply backgrounds, etc... However, neither of them affected the platforms screen at all. It still has the default, generic look.

SentaiBrad said Every theme should work. I use the Clean Hardware theme myself too and it's working just fine. Sorry for the obvious questions, but did you extract the Theme folder from the package and change the setting in BigBox? You may even need to restart BigBox. Yeah, I did extract the folder and change the setting... I restarted it multiple times... I'll try to mess around with it some more. Is it possible I got a wrong version or something like that? *edit* These do go in the "theme" folder in the launchbox dir, right?
-
Thanks... I use Display Fusion and actually just set up a profile for this.

Hey guys... I tried the Clean Hardware theme because the screenshots looked great... didn't work for me at all. Are there any themes that are tested and working, just drop it and and it works? I just want to test this feature out to see if I like it in BigBox... don't want to invest too much time in it yet. Thanks.

Is there a way to start BigBox on your second monitor? If not, this would be a very helpful option to add.

Jason Carr said As best as I can tell from the server logs, there should be no bandwidth issues since we upgraded to the gigabit connection. We are indeed allowing more bandwidth to go through, and things seem performant from my end, so not sure what might have happened there @Drybonz. No worries, Jason... I did finally get that beta downloaded... just wanted to send a heads up that the site has been dragging a bit vs. other sites that I visit. Also, is it possible that you can add a "pinball" platform video and image? I know there's a few guys (and me) out there launching their pinball stuff with Launchbox and I thought the silverball could use a little love. *edit* I should add that today's beta download seemed to be back to normal speeds. Looks like there was a MS .Net update for anyone who hasn't got it yet.
-
Yeah, I had a weird pop-up error with games I think was related to a recent RL update... I need to check and see if they fixed that. I thought it was Launchbox at first, but I don't think it was.
-
Seems like the site must be getting hammered. Has been really slow lately. My beta download has been sitting on around 30% for about a half hour.

sagaopc said Jason, pls put option to add adicional aplications to all games, because I want to use nomousy and I have to choose game by game to config... It's very painfull! This would also be great for setting up things like .bat files as launchers, etc...
-
Yeah, you just have to press the button on top of the Dolphinbar and change the settings, 1-4. I don't have my Dolphinbar set up right now to check, but I posted the solution in another thread.

I think the generally accepted approach is: -Ask the original authors if you can use them any time it is possible to contact them -Credit the original authors if you know who they were, or at least credit "the original author" -Don't sell the images If you guys decide you don't want to do that... that's ok, but the original problem remains... how to fill the gaps in the wheel logos, for which people are going to want for every game in their theme. One alternative is to find some artists here on your forums and set them to work... but that means your database is not going to be good to go for a very long time. So that is where the decision lies, IMO.
-
Thanks, Jason... I didn't realize you had removed those intentionally. Oddly, I had them in "screenshot - gameplay" and they weren't showing up, then moved them to "screenshot" and they are showing up.

So, being that people are probably going to want full sets of the wheel logos for Big Box themes, and there are huge gaps in the logos on the LB games database... the reason that I brought this up is so that we can think about a solution. If our solution is to, as individuals, go download a set from another source like the Hyperspin forums, etc, which is easily done... then the LB games database seems to have a lot less value. Would another possible solution be finding a author who has made these and getting the ok to upload them to the games db? Another obvious solution would be make an entire new set for the LB games db, which would take as long as it took to make the existing ones floating around out there... literally, years probably. I don't know what the best solution is... just throwing this out there for discussion.
