  1. This isn't every hack or fan-made I have, but I think it covers some of the more well know ones, so I'm going to list (from the games I have): Kaizo Mario World (hack) Kaizo Mario Bros. 3 (hack) AM2R: Return of Samus (fan-made) Castlevania II: Simons Quest Revamped (fan-made) Castlevania: Chorus of Mysteries (hack) Brutal Doom (technically a Doom Mod, but I still count it in my category) Final Fantasy Tactics: Journey of the Five (hack) Hyper Metroid (hack) Metroid Super Zero Mission (hack) Super Metroid Redesign (hack) Paper Mario 3D Land (fan-made) The Legend of Zelda: Parallel Worlds Remodel (hack) The Legend of Zelda: Goddess of Wisdom (hack) Mega Man Unlimited (fan-made) Mortal Kombat: Outworld Assassins (technically an OpenBOR game, but I count it too) The Legend of Princess (fan-made) Black Mesa (technically a Half-Life 2 Mod and can be purchased through Steam now, too, but still started as a fan-made re-make of the original Half-Life... so counts times 3 to me!) The Legend of Zelda: Outlands (hack) I'm also going to toss in: Nightmare Busters (previously unreleased for the SNES) Star Fox 2 (previously unreleased for the SNES) The Legend Of Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets (released as an episodic, weekly downloadable game for the Satellaview for the Super Famicom) I have mocked up box art and clear logos for just about every game above and will be making logos for the few that don't have anything and I can help with recording gameplay for some these too. Just let me know how you would like to coordinate it and maybe we can get enough stuff together to spur some interest in someone making a platform video.
  2. For the Windows MP4, does it play if you try to open it outside of LB/BB? If it does, and you have it named correctly, are you putting it in the Theme folder like you are doing with the images? I just tested with my own theme by moving files from the default LB directory into it and the images and videos loaded up fine. However, I always put everything in the default directories (paths I gave above) and not the theme directories and have never had an issue getting images or videos to show up. If that MP4 plays fine outside of LB/BB, then I can't really say what the issue is if everything else is showing up fine for you; seems odd. The file could be corrupt and you just need to re-download it. If it plays, you could try manually pointing to that video from Tools -> Manage Platforms -> Windows and see if shows up then. I've attached how I have the Options for Images and Videos set in my own BB, if that helps you out.
  3. I had inquired with @BakerMan on this since he has pretty great platform videos, but didn't have any artwork that might give him some inspiration, so, if you do, you might want to pass it over to him and maybe we'll see something awesome come about. I do the same thing myself, so I just have some gameplay clips that I recorded and spliced together for mine at the moment. Anyway, if you have some stuff that might give BakerMan the inspiration, I'm sure he'd add one of these to his list. His thread over this way ->
  4. @ShinMusashi44 Are your videos in?: For Platform - LaunchBox\Videos\Platform\Windows For Games - LaunchBox\Videos\Windows Also, are the file names corresponding correctly with the name of the Platform/Game Title? (i.e., Windows.mp4 for the Windows Platform video/Half-Life.mp4 for Half-Life, etc.). If the above is true, LB/BB should find them automatically, but if for some reason LB/BB still doesn't find them, you can also do the more tedious thing of going to Tools -> Manage Platforms in LB and manually point to the Platform video you want to use and then in your Game List for that Platform, open up the right-click menu and under the Other tab, you can point to the specific video you want to use for games (you may be able to use the Bulk Edit Wizard for the Games if all of the videos are in one folder and not individual folders -> Select a game, press CTRL+A to select all of them, right-click and choose edit. If you see a video path option in there, it will make things less tedious; but not sure if there is one, off the top of my head). As for the other question: If you are referring to changing the Clear Logo image, those go in LaunchBox\Images\Platform\<Console you are wanting to chage>\Clear Logo If you are referring to the Device image, those go in LaunchBox\Images\Platform\<Console you are wanting to chage>\Device
  5. You can do it by pressing Tab and NOT going into the option for "This Machine", as that will create a profile for the game you are currently running. You need to go into the main settings location. After you map the buttons in MAME, you can then go into the config folder in your MAME install directory and set the file to Read-Only (this is optional; I do it so I don't accidentally overwrite mappings if I go into the settings and adjust something for that specific play session).
  6. You're a genius! That worked! Thanks!
  7. Hi All, I decided to import my Steam Library into LaunchBox but the video trailers are having some issues with Media Player. They work fine with VLC, but the audio for ANY videos (platform or game) doesn't play using latest version of VLC (unless I load a video in VLC outside of LB; then it gets audio) With Media Player, the audio for all videos will play in LB/BB. In short, it is my current preference to use Media Player. However, the WEBM format will not natively work with Media Player, so I installed the WebM Media Fountain Components for IE from the WebM project page (https://www.webmproject.org/ie/), per the site's recommendation, and this allows Media Player to play this format just fine outside of LaunchBox. However, if I select a game in LB that has a trailer I get the attached error (all of the video paths are set correctly). After I get rid of the error, I can manually start the video and it will play, but in BB it's just blank with no error. I attached a video showing this in case my explanation is too wordy and not quite clear. I haven't tried re-importing yet; figured I'd ask here first. I am on the latest beta (16), as well; OS is Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. Hopefully there is a solution! Desktop_12_02.2016_-_20_54_59_08.mp4
  8. I don't know of any way in the LB/BB programs to enable this (haven't really looked for it, though), but if you can't find anything, you could make a shortcut to BigBox.exe and put that into your startup folder (from your Windows Search, type shell:startup and put the shortcut in that folder).
  9. Videos can technically be anywhere on your PC. I do it by going to Launchbox\Videos\Platform\<Platform Name>\<File Name>.mp4 (I generally name the mp4 to whatever name I am using for that platform). You might need to make the Platform folder in the Videos folder (can't remember if that is there by default). Alternatively, you can go to Tools -> Manage Platforms in LaunchBox and then choose to edit your desired platform. At the bottom of that window, you can point it to the location you have the desired mp4/wmv, etc. that you are wanting to use. However, doing it the way I mentioned above will allow LB/BB to automatically find it. I never put videos into any Videos directory for a theme I'm using; just the default location, and this has always worked for me.
  10. does it specify which version of Visual C++ it's erroring for? Probably just need to re-install or install that version. Visual C++ is a separate run-time application and multiple versions of it can be installed at the same time, so even if the posts about that error are older than the build of Windows 10 you are on, it doesn't matter since Visual C++ does not update with Windows Update. Totally get it if you don't want to mess around with causing yourself more problems though.
  11. @Zombeaver Awesome! Thanks for the links!
  12. No worries! RocketLauncher uses an AHK script, but I couldn't actually find the script it was running anywhere back when I first configured DeSmuME with it. Complete overkill, since I never used HyperSpin and the only emu I have ever setup in RocketLauncher was this one. That's why I was keen on the Retroarch core since it achieves that seamless transition (we get a little picky, don't we? ha ha!). I haven't messed with it much, but if the audio is horrendous, I'll just go back to the RocketLauncher setup since I still have it all ready to go, but thanks anyway! Off topic, would either of you say that EMU Movies is worth springing for, if either of you use a premium account with the site? I have the free account, but I've been on the fence for months about getting a pay for account. I have a very large collection and I've been creating the snap videos myself with a combination of Nvidia Shadow Play (Sharing now I guess it's called), Movie Maker and Expressions Encoder 4. It's VERY time-consuming, so I've been tempted to spring for the account just to download pre-made game snaps. I have very limited skills with video editing, but it has worked thus far; just takes a long time to record, edit and add transition effects to them.
  13. @lordmonkus @Zombeaver Thanks for all the info guys (or gals... whichever!). I'm home now so I'm going to give the PS core a spin. I've been trying out the DeSmuME core over the standalone primarily because it will auto launch into fullscreen, whereas with the standalone.... I had to configure it through RocketLauncher to get the same effect. I had previously made a VBS script, but it was ugly since you could see menus opening up while it was launching. I did see that someone here made an AHK (which I'm pretty sure is how RocketLauncher handles it) to get the seamless fullscreen boot up, so if I notice in issue with the core, I'll just switch back. I was also not a fan of the Reicast core... and now it just crashes after updating recently, so I'll be sticking with Demul for the forseeable future. And I agree, PPSSPP is a fantastic emulator, so I may switch back just because
  14. I've only recently started using Retroarch myself, but I am slowly migrating away from the standalones for most systems since it's nice having everything in one "house". Just switched from the standalone PPSSPP to the libretro core, but keeping it around in case any issues pop-up; seems to be fine though. I must admit I am a bit leery about the cores vs. standalones still, but I'm slowly moving to the Retroarch camp for most things.
  15. Ah, thanks for that. I haven't tried Retroarch's PS core, so I'll have to check it out; been using ePSXe because it's what I've always used. I definitely like the idea of having an easier way to handle the disc swapping.
  16. So how do these M3Us work with ePSXe (is it even compatible?)? I get adding the CUE sheet names to a text file, saving it as an M3U and then pointing LB to that as the game, but how would I bring up an option to switch to the next disc? Or do you have to use Mednafen and will something pop up to get you to change discs? I'm just confused by that part. OpenEMU has a UI control box you can bring up to change discs from if using M3Us, but I'm on Windows, so...
  17. CXBX is the only one I even know of and development fizzled out on it awhile ago, but it has been picked back up (by it's original developer, I believe; haven't followed this one much) and is now called CXBX-Reloaded, so it's back in active development again. But like SentaiBrad said, you won't run very much on it and I'm not sure that anything is fully playable yet. I would also expect you'd need a BIOS.
  18. Hello All, I'm wanting to round out my Super Nintendo collection by getting scans for all of the manuals for each game. I have 82 games that I cannot find manuals online for. I've searched EMU Movies, Games Database and Replacement Docs. I found a couple that I was missing, but still have a big list to go. Does anyone know of another resource that would have PDF scans for games? Below is the list of SNES games I've yet to get manuals for: The Adventures of Batman & Robin The Adventures of Dr. Franken Aero Fighters Alien vs Predator Ardy Lightfoot Arkanoid: Doh It Again Batman: Revenge of the Joker BioMetal BlaZeon: The Bio-Cyborg Challenge The Blues Brothers Boogerman: A Pick and Flick Adventure Brandish Captain Commando The Combatribes The Death and Return of Superman Desert Strike: Return to the Gulf Dragon View E.V.O.: Search for Eden Earth Defense Force Earthworm Jim Fatal Fury 2 Fatal Fury Special Final Fight 3 Final Fight Guy Gods Gunforce: Battle Fire Engulfed Terror Island Hagane: The Final Conflict The Itchy & Scratchy Game J.R.R. 19. Welp, I gave it a go, but it didn't work. If I set it to run the program before the game, it tries to go fullscreen, but then collapses back to a window. If I set it to run after, it doesn't do anything. I also ticked the box to Wait For Close (not exactly sure what this even does) with the program set to run before the game, but it just took significantly longer to launch, attempted to fullscreen and then collapsed to a window. I could just use nullDC, but when it loads the bios boot sequence, you can hear sound, but the DC logo doesn't show up. Tried a couple different versions of nullDC and different bios dumps with the same result. Dang... well, thanks for the link anyhow!
  20. @lordmonkus @Vlansix Thanks for the info! I did try an older version Demul last night and had the same issue. I'll give the addon a try tonight. I'm curious if it is related to DX 11 though. I have a number of games in Steam that are either built with DX10 or DX11 (or at least have features that can be enabled for either) and if you launch those games in fullscreen, they immediately minimize to the Task Bar, so they have to be run windowed (hence why I used a third party program to force Borderless Windowed Fullscreen for games that don't offer that in their video options). This happened to me when I was on Windows 8 on a completely different PC and now I'm on Windows 10; I'm speculating the same will happen with DX12 games, but I haven't bought any that use it. Different result with Demul, but both of it's backend plugin options are DX11, so maybe. Either way, I'll try Vlansix's addon, but I'm also curious of what you think is happening. Thanks again!
  21. @heelsinc Mortal Kombat Outworld Assassins is pretty fun
  22. I've had a problem with Demul for a while now and have never found any information for how to correct it and maybe someone here would know. I have Demul configured to launch in Fullscreen (configured in the emulator's settings) and it will launch Fullscreen and then after about 2 or 3 seconds, it reverts to being Windowed. Turning off Fullscreen and using Alt+Enter to switch to Fullscreen manually doesn't make a difference; it does the same thing. I have resorted to using a third party application to force borderless windowed fullscreen on it, but it doesn't work very elegantly with Demul like it does with PC games I have to use it with and even then that solution only works sometimes. How do I get games launched with Demul to launch in and STAY in Fullscreen?? Thanks!
  23. ALT+F4 is the default Windows shortcut for terminating a program. If that doesn't work, you can try ALT+TAB to get to the Desktop and then kill the program from Task Manager (right-click your Task Bar and select it) or press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to run Task Manager from the menu that displays.
  24. EDIT: I discovered the problem... if you have BOTH Enable Background Music and the Prioritize Soundtrack over Video Audio enabled, BigBox will crash while scrolling through a Games List that has music tracks and videos. I had both of these enabled because I didn't realize that BakerMan's videos are made in such a way that you only need the Prioritize option enabled (if you have MP3s you want to override game videos); the music from his videos will still play. However, for some of the platforms, I have videos not made by BakerMan since doesn't have any available for them and those will not have audio unless the Enable Background Music option is enabled along with Prioritize. Basically, I can't have both... so for now I will just add my own music to those platforms and leave Enable Background Music disabled. In any case, that seems to be the issue. Definitely! Just updated to the newest beta and still happens (even tried VLC instead of Media Player). It just seems that it gets angry whenever it tries to load a separate audio and video file at the same time (just not always); it never crashes by having the MP3s embedded into the videos (I encoded about 30 more videos, disabled the override option and scrolled up and down the list for about 5 minutes and it never crashed). On a side note, does BigBox ONLY use Media Player for audio streaming? I'm asking because I have the option to see audio info displayed enabled and noticed that, for the MP3s that have embedded thumbnail images, every single game was showing the same thumbnail image next to the music title (i.e., all games had the thumbnail for the Super Metroid MP3 I'm using). I did a little digging and discovered that Windows creates a file that it hides in such a way that, to even see it, you need have a CYGWIN environment installed (even though it's only a JPG... weird). Anyway, Media Player (or Windows) creates this image the first time you load up a song in Media Player and then uses it for ALL other tracks; the "fix" is to just be sure that each MP3 goes into it's own folder (I had everything in the same folder). Before I put each track into it's own folder, though, I loaded them up manually in VLC and the Groove Music App and the thumbnails displayed as they should. Then I switched the video player in BigBox over to VLC, but the thumbnails were still only using Super Metroid, which led me to think that maybe Media Player is being used exclusively for this right now. It could be related to the crashing somehow... I'll try putting everything into it's own folder and then see if that makes a difference or not. Anyway, sorry for the long-winded comment and keep up the good work!
