  1. I'm interested! If you decide to do any of the arcade systems, it would be cool if the tv were replaced with a close-up of the cabinet (with art that references the machine: Neo Geo, Tatio Type X, etc) with the background looking like an arcade from that machines era. This is really cool, either way though. Oh, and if you do any Atari 2600, etc., for the tv, something like the attached would be awesome:
  2. I really love this theme, but I would like to be able to have my fanart backgrounds be used in the Game Details menu. I have all the settings in LB/BB enabled to do this, but with this theme, they don't show up. I attached a screenshot showing where I'd like to have the art display; squared around the area in yellow (I would want to keep the left-hand side-bar using the theme background). If there is some way I can make this work in the XAMLs? I'm willing to make those edits, just not sure where or what to edit. Hopefully, this is possible or could be added as a feature in future updates, if possible.
  3. Definitely not averse to the Adobe Suite. I don't have a Graphic Design/Video Editing background so I'm the noobiest of the noobs when it comes to that. I've used GIMP the last few years for simple image editing, but I hear people compare it with Photoshop; just not anything detailed. Basically just: "It's like a free version of Photoshop". Free was the operative word for me because I wanted something with some utility to it, but couldn't validate spending lots of money to just edit images either. Now, though, I'd like to get into making some of these themes I keep seeing from other users... just have some trepidation with the expense of the software needed (and personal ability to "get good" with it) and make it look good.
  4. I added the box art and clear logos for the Super Famicom games I have in my collection, so if you have any of these in your own collection without art, you can get what I uploaded here:
  5. @Zombeaver I'm going to download the trial of Vegas and give it a spin. How would you say GIMP (if you have much experience with it) compares to Photoshop? I use GIMP now for editing images and I'm not sure if there are any compelling reasons that Photoshop might be be a better option over it. Great job on the themes! I'm mostly interested in making themed videos for a hacks and fan-made category and game-specific themes for less paid attention to platforms like Amiga (which, another thank you for that tutorial you did. It's the only reason I bothered adding Amiga as a platform; tried using WinUAE a long time ago, but ended up giving up on it, so your tutorial made getting FS-UAE setup a breeze), MSX and some of the Japanese-specific consoles like PC Engine or Super Famicom. Not sure how it will work out since, artistically speaking, I'm a traditional media (paints, pens, pencils) type of person, but it'd be fun to at least try it out.
  6. Uninstall Input Mapper and try this: http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-DS4-To-XInput-Wrapper Input Mapper is a fork of this program. I've never had success with Input Mapper in Windows 10, but I have used the OG wrapper for the last 3yrs with PS3 and PS4 controllers in Windows 7/8/10. Just follow the directions listed that are specific to PS4, though you may need to purchase a Bluetooth Dongle for wireless (I recommend the ASUS BT 20.11 since I know it is compatible and cheap: $10). For the bit about Zadig, this package will have an outdated version of it, so you can get the newest version from here: http://zadig.akeo.ie/ Just replace the EXE in the Zadig folder in the SCP download with the one linked above. Also, Input Mapper and the SCP driver linked above trick Windows into thinking your DS4 is an X360 controller. It allows the DS4 to use Xinput instead of Dinput, so anything that supports Xinput (like most games release for PC these days and RA/Big Box) will automatically work with the controller.
  7. I decided to give @CriticalCid's theme a run. I changed up the background video (still haven't settled on anything permanent; I kinda want DNA strands or something like that). This is showcasing my PS2 library of 105 games, so it's a little long in the tooth. I do need to re-do some of the videos (a few don't have audio and a few others need to be cropped to fit), but otherwise I'm basically done with this category. Next, I want to wrap my brain around RL for the fade screens and whatnot. Also, sorry the video is cropped like it is. I run it through Movie Maker with the "YouTube" settings since it gets down from almost 9GBs to only 1GB, but it puts that border around it... oh well.
  8. Mednafen for RA and standalone Mednafen are the same, but not exactly. The RA version of Mednafen is Libretros (the RA devs) version of it and I don't know if they get support from the Mednafen devs for their development of the RA core and, from what I can gather about OpenEMU, it's basically the same idea as RA and uses a core version ("meat and potatoes" of the emulator) of Mednafen that those devs develop. In any case, I use the standalone version of Mednafen for TG-16/CD and Saturn. Anyway, that's Mednafen: it's a multi-system emulator. To answer your question, without the SRM file, you won't be able to import your saves over, unfortunately. I did a test using Blood Omen with ePSXe (the emu that I use for PS One), standalone Mednafen and the Mednafen PS RA core. ePSXe creates memory cards for all of your game saves, just like an actual PS one memory card, with the MCR extension (epsxe000.mcr for Memory Card 1 and epsxe001.mcr for Memory Card 2); it doesn't create a separate SRM file for the game. Standalone Mednafen also did not create a separate SRM file for me; it generated SAV files (which is what the Virtual Boy Medafen core in RA produces, as well... which is weird because I always assumed the RA Medafen cores were the same one, just using different command line configs... not sure there). Only the RA version of Mednafen creates an MCR specific to the game being saved and an associated SRM. So it's something specific to RA because all save files for any platform I use RA for (SNES/GBA/NDS, etc.) all have the SRM extension to their save files. Hope that helps!
  9. Yeah, surprisingly (to me) it doesn't seem to be a super popular category, but I will definitely appreciate getting more (better) media to make it look spiffy. I already downloaded the themes you did for SNES from EmuMovies FTP, so look forward to whatever you put out next!
  10. I just downloaded Hyper Metroid and the theme video you did for Mega Man Universe. Great job on these man! And much appreciated!
  11. Have you tried bumping the mouse around? This happens to me if a particular emulator or PC game steals focus away from BB, like DOS76 said above. When it happens, if I give the mouse a little nudge, that is enough make Big Box the active window again and controller input works as normal. If you aren't getting input at all after that, are you able to ALT+TAB to other windows? If you can, you could cycle back to Big Box and see if that helps. Or, when you say "stops responding", is Big Box actually crashing to desktop? I get crashes in BB, is why I ask.
  12. @CriticalCid Nice! I always forget about changing settings in LB for BB. Hadn't tried that yet, so thank you!
  13. Retroarch will not notify you about any new updates; you'll have to check periodically on the site for new versions. If you do download a new version to update to, you will want to back-up, at the very least, the config folder and system folder (if you have BIOS files here) from your previous version of Retroarch to copy into the new version. Brad actually made a tutorial covering how to update Retroarch without losing all of your configs/settings from previous versions on the YouTube channel: As far as, LB goes, it will let you know when a new update is available when you launch either it or Big Box, but it is entirely up to you to accept the update; it's not forced on you. Updating it will not overwrite any of your previous settings, but its always a good idea to keep backups for anything software related, as a "just in case".
  14. @CriticalCid Is it possible to get artwork or video to display in the Game Details? I have a screenshot for the area I mean attached. I've tried tinkering in the Options, but so far, there is only the black background. Would be nice to have artwork for the game as the wallpaper!
  15. It might be possible in the XAMLs to do this, but I haven't wrapped my head around how that works yet (not the author of this theme; it's the Minimal - AO one). The game list does have view that makes the text spread out more across the screen for the description, but the views for the platforms don't have this:
  16. Which video back-end are you using? Media Player or VLC?
  17. I have this same script set for Demul in the emulator's Auto-Hotkey Script tab in LB. I just tested launching a Dreamcast game from within Big Box, getting into gameplay, pressing Escape and the game/Demul closed and went back to Big Box; no crashing or processes for Demul still running in Task Manager. I also tried it with a PlayStation game (I use ePSXe, using the same script) and it closed the game/ePSXe and returned to the game info screen in Big Box. Maybe some other background application is conflicting? Also, for MAME, it exits by the Escape key as a default, so that script isn't needed for it.
  18. If you have any games marked as favorites it will go that location in your Game List.
  19. I'm on Big Box 7.5-beta 2 (latest) using a Dual Shock 4 (with a custom driver so it's recognized as a 360 controller) and I'm not having any issues like that with the D-pad/Analog Sticks. Which version of LB/BB are you on and what type of controller are you using/does it appear to work correctly if you test the sticks/buttons from the device properties? Also, if you open up LB and enable your controller for that, does it do the same thing? AND, lastly, does it happen if you use the D-pad? My controllers settings are in the screenshot attached, but enabling all controllers didn't change anything for me:
  20. Are you using a program like Xpadder, Joy2Key or Pinnacle? If so, exit out them and see if it still occurs. I will get double-input (which is what this sounds like) in applications if I have one of those programs running with a profile loaded in them, so I typically only launch them when I actually need to use them.
  21. How did you map the guide button for access to the Quick Menu? I use a Dual Shock 4 in conjunction with Scarlett Crush's custom Xinput hooking utility, so Windows thinks it's an X360 controller. It'd be awesome to use the PS button to access this, but I've only ever seen pre-made configurations in RA for this (I'm using the press R3 + L3 combo now).
  22. This may not be in the right place.... I'm interested in trying my hand at crafting up some themed videos for platforms, but I'm not sure which software would be the best to go with. I currently just use Windows Movie Maker/Expressions Encoder 4 for some basic editing, but would like to do animations and such, so I know I'm going to need to upgrade to something more professional. Before I go spending hundreds of dollars on a license, any suggestions or recommendations from the folks here that are already doing this? I am new at this, so preferably something that doesn't have a huge learning curve before you can get going with stuff, but I do want the ability to make high quality themes, too. I'm a Windows guy, too (if the Movie Maker/Expressions didn't give it away), so I would want something Windows-based. Thank you!
  23. I use the program here to auto-hide my mouse cursor, so it might be of interest to you. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/autohidemousecursor-hide-the-mouse-cursor/
