I don't know if it will help you, but I had a lot of troubles until I disabled Steam Overlay in Big Picture AND I set inside of "Interface" settings "Start Big Picture mode Windowed". The windowed mode solved a lot of problems for me when running Bigbox and emulation. Does the same thing happen to you streaming regular PC Steam games as well? If yes, maybe a network related issue?

OS slowness over time (when it used to be faster), in my experience (and I have a ton of experience in this area) is 99% of the time either too much stuff running on startup and login, and/or some running process may be using up your cpu often or nearly all the time. The cpu issue is pretty easy. Just look at task manager every now and then sorted by CPU column and see if anything is constantly using like 50%+ cpu. If there is one, then your system will surely seem slow doing anything. That wouldn't usually be normal and would indicate a problem with that process. The other one is pretty simple too and is usually the cause. Try starting Windows in safe mode (or use Autoruns to disable all non Microsoft startup/login items). This excludes almost everything extra from starting up with windows. If things are much snappier then, and they almost always are, you have to go through the somewhat laborious process of elimination to try to only include the boot up and login processes that you really need and want. Microsoft Autoruns free tool is great for seeing everything that runs on start and login and lets you easily exclude any of these that you want to help you in this process. In doing this, you may also find you have at least one virus type of process running and causing troubles. Yes, there are other things like driver updates, OS updates, and other things, but those don't "usually" cause big all-around slowness problems. The main one is eliminating all those unnecessary processes from running at startup and login. Also, check browser plugins and extensions because those are notorious for making browsing (not the system in general) a real bitch. Easy to tell if your browser is too slow by plugins or extensions. Just run your browser in browser safe mode. Yes, browsers have a "safe" mode too. That will start it up without any plugins. If browsing is great in safe mode, you know that your plugins or extensions are at fault. Another process of elimination. Browsing may also seem to crawl or plagued with bad stuff (popups) if some bad program set your DNS to a bad guy's IP address. So check your DNS also to be sure it's set the way you expect. Lastly, anti virus and security software is also a big pain in the performance ass, but it "shouldn't" (i say "shouldn't") cause major issues. Although I've seen it cause minor to major performance issues often, and I hate even minor disruption. Therefore, I choose not to run ANY anti virus or other security protection software so my systems stay perform tip top and snappy. I don't recommend that for anyone unless you are quite good about how your OS works intimately. I haven't run security software for like the last 15 years and have never had a real problem. But it's because I'm super aware of what I run and what I do on my system, and what is running at startup and login time, and at other times. If you don't want to go through all the work of fine tuning your system, a clean OS install will always put it back in the fast lane (until you load it up with junk again). But that's a pretty drastic step to take if you have a lot of customizations in your system and applications. Happy tuning.

Exiting PPSSPP 1.4 with controller automation crashes PPSSPP
ckp replied to ckp's topic in Troubleshooting
ok this seems to only happen when using the new ppsspp 1.4 direct x 11 setting. i filed a bug on the ppsspp forum. i can run with OpenGL in ppssspp 1.4 and things work fine like they did in 1.3. i think switching between OpenGL and D3D11 in pppsspp doesn't always change it out of D3D11 because when it was crashing on me it always referenced D3D11 faulting in the windows event log. -
Exiting PPSSPP 1.4 with controller automation crashes PPSSPP

I haven't. It only crashes with specific games, not all. -
I feel EXACTLY the same way!!

Hey @joeivo911, yeah i think i remember that discrepancy for that game and just fixed the naming to work like you have found. good job! was hoping this step would alert to this: "Make sure all the quoted games (such as "astron") match the file names of the .txt files inside Daphne\framefile folder but not including the .txt extension. Change the names in the batch file if any don't match your files."

Exiting PPSSPP 1.4 with controller automation crashes PPSSPP

Apparently I'm finding it's not all games. Dragon's Lair works ok for me. But Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 always crashes (have to get all the way in actual soccer game play) with 1.4 but not with 1.3 Edit: Naturally, only the first game I tried so far is causing this. -

Does it work ok for anyone using PPSSPP 1.4? -
I have been using controller automation fine for a long time with PPSSPP 1.3 and LB with my xbox ones. I just changed to the new PPSSPP 1.4 version. But now, when I exit from inside a game using controller automation, it crashes PPSSPP most of the time, when the escape key alone does not. I do not have anything in the ahk tab now or before for PPSSPP. This seems to be a new LB and PPSSPP problem with the latest version of PPSSPP.
-
It works ok for me. i have this in my pcsx2 default command line parameters in LB emulator settings: --nogui --fullscreen And I have this in the ahk tab: $Esc:: { Process, Close, {{{StartupEXE}}} } I'm running pcsx2 version 1.4.0 and LB 7.8. I use xbox one controllers with usb wireless and controller automation to exit games with the back/start button combos.
-
That started happening to me a little while back. The only solution for me and a couple others was to use this in your AHK tab for the Demul emulator. You can leave off the nomousy part if you want or just correct the paths if you have the file. Run, R:\LaunchBox\Games\Tools\nomousy.exe /hide $Esc:: { Run, R:\LaunchBox\Games\Tools\nomousy.exe WinClose, ahk_class window ahk_exe demul.exe }

Thanks Brad! If anyone knows where to get the game videos, please add.

Anyone know where to get packs for box art and video for Nintendo 3ds?

Hey, thanks for answering @Jason Carr. As for game details, there is an option in the settings to be able to enable showing certain things for each game when selected, like year, file name, etc. But there isn't a checkbox option to show the playlist(s) the game is in. I went to options to put a check mark for Playlist so I would see the playlist that the game is in when I select it. But there wasn't a checkbox item for Playlist. I often forget if I have already marked certain games in a playlist already, so I have to keep flipping back to the playlist to see if various games are already in there. I did find out that it doesn't "seem" to hurt anything if you add a game to a playlist more than once when it's already in the same playlist. In any case, I am sure happy about having playlists finally. I'm going Playlist nuts creating them! Thanks a LOT!!!!

Coverflow not smooth on powerful computer

While I was at it I thought I would try setting VLC in regular LB now on 7.8. LB still crashes when I launch Dolphin and Dreamcast games that have zipped game images. So had to switch back to Win Media Player in regular LB. I don't think I'll ever be able to use VLC in regular LB -

ok, so i had Win Media Player set in BB for videos, probably because LB crashes with some games if I use VLC. But BB doesn't crash with VLC, so I changed to VLC. It seems way better now. It still has a stutter if I hesitate just the right amount before moving to the next platform, but it's not bad at all. -
Coverflow not smooth on powerful computer
ckp replied to Immortal Chortle's topic in Troubleshooting
So, looking at settings in BB to try to see if anything will help in my default theme with stuttering platform scrolling. Would either of these have any affect: Transitions: Platforms Video Transition: Rotate Horizontal Triangle Platform Details Transition: Slide Vertical Those are the current settings and I have no idea what they mean or what the other options mean. Any other ideas on setting to speed platform scrolling? -
Coverflow not smooth on powerful computer
ckp replied to Immortal Chortle's topic in Troubleshooting
A hardware upgrade seems silly from what I'm running just to run smooth BB wheel Anyway, I'm more interested in trying to see what kind of settings, if any, will help improve my current BB theme with scrolling. I haven't messed with any yet. Any suggestions? I don't need any general system performance tips. -
Coverflow not smooth on powerful computer
ckp replied to Immortal Chortle's topic in Troubleshooting
Not sure there is much point though, since I really like my current default theme So even if performance is better with another theme, I prefer the one I have now. I've never seen any themes' screenshots yet that compel me to want to try them. Plus, I know the default theme that comes with BB is least likely to BREAK. haha. -

I could try a lighter theme, whatever theme that is, but I like default BB theme, so I probably wouldn't want to permanently change. -
Coverflow not smooth on powerful computer

The only thing I can compare performance of a seemingly similar thing is to Hyperspin when I used to use that. It had wheels, video, and art similar to my BB. But it had 0 stutter. -
