Hi and welcome. It may be something very simple. are you using "gambatte" as your core? I ask cause cause some gba cores need a bios. -

Well that is a issue you are gonna have, how authentic do you want your "Arcade Cab" to be? Just Arcade games or Console games as well, and if you want to play said God of War then you obviously need a duel stick game pad as well, which takes away from the "Cab" part of the build as you will need console controllers connected as well.

OK cool, you will have to forgive me i reply to so many issues/queries on here that its often hard to remember who said what where and when, although i was right this time so woo hoo!!! Yeah of course a Windows system will always be more expensive than a retropie setup, at the end of the day you are buying a full PC vs a cheap single chip board that to be fair is very under powered. And before anyone says i am biased i have a raspberry pi 2, and bought the original pi as soon as it was released so i have experience on both sides. I remember when retropie first got released it was still a nightmare to setup right, its much better now though. Also retropie is not the only choice Lakka is great also, if you dont know it is basically straight up Retroarch, same ui and cores excluding the windows cores of course. Retropie/lakka only goes to at a stretch ps1 though, and to be fair thats not great, and N64 is piss poor as well. so if you want full emulator support Windows is really the only solution.

Whoops sorry should of clicked the link first, So this is OSX only , shame. Yeah sorry probably not right to upload it here, im sure we have users who use MAC OS, but Launchbox is windows only and we don't want to confuse people coming here with a app that doesn't work on there system. Sorry again.

Yeah the god of war "glow/sort of two Kratos" is a thing, sorry forgive me but i think its you i had this conversation with before right about specs for a build? Anyway there are ways to fix that game but its very specific and is exclusively for that game, thats why ps2 is a bit of a weird one to emulate lots of games need game specific tweaks to work correctly. Anyway back to the monitor, Yeah a lot of arcade were simply that, a crt on its side in the cabinet, a lot of vertical shooters did this thats why some games are even norrower than 4:3. Also we haven't talked resolution, if you are just going to use it for emulation you might even only want or need a 720p screen as all the games you want to emulate are much lower than that anyway, and will be easier to upscale to 720p than 1080p.

@martinconroy, in theory its no more difficult to map a network drive in Linux than it is in Windows. Obviously the issue you are going to have is that Kodi is the GUI for Libreelec, so no proper easy GUI to play with. Im sure if you googled you could find a step by step to do so though, just ssh in and copy paste the commands from your windows pc. You may need to switch ssh on in the libreelec options, its on one of the welcome to libreelec startup screens when you first install but is off by default,( i always switch it on there and then) but is a toggle in the options.

Well i haven't built or own a cabinet so take this with a pinch of salt......You are correct in saying that most stuff is 4:3 in fact with a lot of mame games are even narrower than that. Most ps2 games are also 4:3 some offer a widescreen option in the options (god of war does for example) but most of those are not real widescreen as they just letterbox the image top and bottom to make it a 16:9 ratio image. You can with the ps2 emulator though "force" every game to be 16:9 even if they are not supposed to be by design, so you need to decide if that is something you want to do (not every game can be stretched and it causes emulation issues). My advice would be if you plan on playing actual PC games on this cab then get a 16:9, but if it is just for emulation then 4:3 would be best as 99% of games are that aspect ratio or less. Not forgetting of course as you said 4:3 is way cheaper. Hope that helps.

He is using Libreelec though and that works out of the box with samba shares, you just need to add source and either point it at your samba share if it shows automatically , or type in your ip/system name of the samba share and add it as a source. At least that is how i do it, i have a kodi addon folder on my windows pc that is shared on the network, i then pointed my libreelec to that folder so i can instal addons over the network.
