Pulse Startup
By Retro808 in Startup Themes
User requested a Startup, Pause, and Shutdown theme to compliment the Pulse BigBox theme. So I decided to see how close I could get to the great design of that theme made by Juketsu. I am not a skilled or seasoned coder, more of a scratch type coder so behind the scenes may not be the prettiest. This was fun seeing how much of the BB theme I could decipher. Since the BB theme was done using the Community Theme Creator and that program uses some custom plugins I had to get creative to replicate some items.
The Startup theme's Startup view was modeled after Pulse's HorizontalWheels3GamesView and the Shutdown view was modeled after HorizontalWheels2GamesView. Overall layout, metadata, and some animations are all there from the BB theme. Only creative difference I took was using a red heart for the favorites logo. The BB theme uses the same blue star as the user rating.
Installation:
Download zip file and be sure to unblock the zip.
Simply place the PulseStartup folder inside your \LaunchBox\StartupThemes\ folder (Do NOT rename the folder).
Credit(s):
@Juketsu Pulse theme is his original design. The Startup theme uses his design and artwork.
NOTES:
1. This theme will stay up until Juketsu releases his version. If he is planning to do one.
2. Theme was only tested on a 16:9 and 4:3 aspect monitor.

Pulse Pause

User requested a Startup, Pause, and Shutdown theme to compliment the Pulse BigBox theme. So I decided to see how close I could get to the great design of that theme made by Juketsu. I am not a skilled or seasoned coder, more of a scratch type coder so behind the scenes may not be the prettiest. This was fun seeing how much of the BB theme I could decipher. Since the BB theme was done using the Community Theme Creator and that program uses some custom plugins I had to get creative to replicate some items.
The Pause theme was modeled after Pulse's TextGamesView since a menu is needed. Overall layout, metadata, and some animations are all there from the BB theme. Only creative difference I took was using a red heart for the favorites logo. The BB theme uses the same blue star as the user rating.
Installation:
Download zip file and be sure to unblock the zip.
Simply place the PulsePause folder inside your \LaunchBox\PauseThemes\ folder (Do NOT rename the folder).

NOTES:
1. This theme will stay up until Juketsu releases his version. If he is planning to do one.
2. The menu, depending on how many items you have, may seem like there is a lot of space. Unfortunately that is the way it is. The more items you have the more the space fills are you can see in some pics. I plan a different layout for this, but for now this is the look it has.
3. Theme was only tested on a 16:9 and 4:3 aspect monitor.

Game Controls FS (Full Screen - Beta)
By Retro808 in Pause Themes
A variant of the "Game Controls" theme that shows either a Game Specific controller mapping or in absence of a game map it will show a Platform Specific controller mapping in Full Screen (FS).
A sample of images are supplied courtesy of @OhBoy. It is designed for those that will create their own mapping images or those that have them already and want a way to show them without having to override the current LaunchBox image files. The Images shown for display are only samples of how the theme will look.
NOTE: All images must be placed in a specific folder structure and follow a standard LaunchBox naming convention to work with this theme. SEE BELOW.
How to set-up:
All images must be placed in the following folder and structure. (I have included the folder structure and ReadMe in the zip just copy it into \Launchbox folder.)
(Pics below to show how this should look)
1) Place a folder called "Game Controls" in the \Launchbox\Images folder (It would be \Launchbox\Images\Game Controls\)
2) All platform specific control images must be named as the platform in your set-up is named and placed in the \Launchbox\Images\Game Controls folder
(Example Sony PlayStation platform: \Launchbox\Images\Game Controls\Sony PlayStation.jpg) Note: The name must match how you have the platform named in Launchbox.
3) All game specific control images must be named exactly as the game is named in your set-up or as the LB Database ID (the LB Database ID is best used for games with symbols in the name as currently the coding has trouble pulling game files since LB will display ":" in the title but Windows will convert it to "_").
The image must then be placed inside a folder that is named exactly as the platfrom is named and the folder must be placed in the Game Controls location.
Game Specific Controls folder example: (Example Sony PlayStation platform: \Launchbox\Images\Game Controls\Sony PlayStation\ ).
The control image for the game specific is placed in the above folder folder:(Example Alien Trilogy for Sony Playstation: \Launchbox\Images\Game Controls\Sony PlayStation\Alien Trilogy.jpg)
IMPORTANT:
The theme is searching for a .jpg if your images are .png you must either change your image file extenstions or I have left a ReadMe in the theme's folder on how to edit the theme. It is simple and only takes a few steps.
I have included @OhBoy controller images with his approval. You can download what he has created here. He has a Startup and Pause theme as well.

Big Fade Start
By Retro808 in Startup Themes
Big Fade Start is a compliment to the Big Fade pause theme previously released. The startup theme shows game metadata contained in a gradient transparent list box. A fanart background that is faded away at the bottom to allow clear view of a platform specific startup video and gameplay screen shot. The platform specific video is used to play a platform's boot video (SNK NeoGeo, Xbox, and Playstation systems for example). In the absence of a system having an original boot video, or the user not having one in place; the theme will play a default video.
Only a portion of platform boot videos are provided in the theme as well as a default video. Additional boot videos will added later or can be added by user.
Important notes about videos:
1. A user can add or change videos for any platform. Simply place a video file in the theme's \Videos folder and name it exactly as the platform is named in your specific setup.
2. The default video can be replaced by adding your own and naming the file "_Default.mp4"
3. In emulators that may take longer to load than the duration of the video in place the theme will continue to loop the video until the emulator fully loads and take control. YOu can see this occur in the demo video with Sammy Atomiswave.
4. IMPORTANT: There is a minor issue with audio from videos playing in a Startup theme and it is something determined by our Launchbox developer that cannot be fixed at this time. Audio from the video will bleed into the start of emulation until the emulator officially takes over. It does not occur with all emulators and It is only about 1-2 seconds if it does occur. For any emulator this affects perform the steps below:
To fix audio bleed issue:
1. In Launchbox go to >Tools>Manage Emulators.
2. Select the emulator the audio bleed is affecting and edit it.
3. In the "Startup Screen" tab change the "Startup Load Delay" to 1 second. Click "OK" and close.
Image Priorities:
Recommend in your Launchbox Image Priorities for Background moving clear logos further down the list of not using at all. This theme will resize and crop clear logos since the theme was designed for fanart primarily.
Installation (Requires Launchbox 9.8 or higher)
Theme was tested and works on a 4:3 screen as well.
I claim no credit to any artwork or videos provided in the theme. All credit goes to the original content creator.

Game Controls (Beta)
By Retro808 in Pause Themes
A no frills Pause Theme that shows either a Game Specific controller mapping or, in absence of a game map, shows a Platform Specific controller mapping.
Some controller images supplied. This is not a complete collection you will have to source/make your images. The theme is mainly designed for those that will create their own mapping images or those that have them already and want a way to show them without having to override the current LaunchBox image files.
NOTE: All images must be placed in a specific folder structure and follow the standard LaunchBox naming convention to work with this theme. (SEE BELOW)
The theme looks for a .jpg. If you are using .png there is a ReadMe on how to edit the theme or you can change your image file extension.
How to set-up:
All images must be placed in the following folder and structure. (I have also included a sample folder structure and ReadMe in the zip just copy the "Images" folder into \Launchbox folder.)
3) All game specific control images must be named exactly as the game is named in your set-up or as the rom is name.
The image must then be placed inside a folder that is named exactly as the platfrom is named and the folder must be placed in the Game Controls location.

GridBlocked Startup Theme
By Retro808 in Startup Themes
Decided to mess around some more looking at code and learning more. So I set out to look at adding gif, linking metadata, and linking images to metadata since I do not use the details screen in BigBox. So here is what I put in another little theme. Once again, I am not a coder so if anyone peaks at the xml file and sees some fixes or a better way please let me know. I am all ears. Or if you have ideas on how to make the theme look nicer fire away.
Icons used in the theme came from BigBox themes by @CriticalCid and @Mr. Retrolust so big thanks to them. (Slightly modified from their original versions.)
I claim no credit to any artwork displayed or included in the theme.
IMPORTANT: Launchbox 9.3 or higher required for Startup Themes.
Version 1.0
Theme will show fanart background blurred 20%, Metadata text contained in a view box, and 3 metadata logos (Favorite, Your Personal Star Rating, and ESRB), along with large 3D Box and Cart/Disc.
Startup theme view for non CD based games will show the cartridge image slide in from the right.
Startup theme for CD based games will show the CS slide in from the right and spin.
Shutdown view will show the fanart background blurred with blinking "Game Over" text.
Installation:
Download the GridBlocked.zip and unzip it into the Launchbox/StartupThemes folder.
Install the supplied fonts. (Working on figuring out how to have it so the fonts do not need to be loaded. So once I can do that I will update the theme)
In Launchbox go to Tools>Options>Game Startup and choose the appropriate named theme.
In Launchbox make sure for Cart Front Image Priorities you have "Disc" checked and listed as top item.
If you need to add other disc based systems to the startup theme simply copy any cd based xml file in the theme's folder and paste into the same folder then rename the file exactly as your platform name appears in Launchbox.

Framed Header (Unified Backgrounds)
By Retro808 in Startup Themes
Second stab at a theme. This one will use a static background image for each platform when a game is launched. So it does not use fan art from each game. The images are those supplied in the BigBox Unified and Unified Redux themes. So I claim no credit to any images. I only copied them over from those themes. Credit to @Jason Carr and @CriticalCid for those themes.
I claim no credit to any artwork displayed or included in the theme. If you know the creator please mention so I may credit.
IMPORTANT: Launchbox 9.2 or higher required for Startup Themes.
Version 1.0.0
Startup Theme: has a header style framed banner that will display "Now Loading..." (text color does change by platform. I used common brand colors or as close to), the game's clear logo, and the platform's clear logo.
Main field will display 3D Box, Screenshot, and Cart or Spinning Disc (for CD based games) are in the main view. IMPORTANT: Make sure you set your image priorities in Launchbox for these categories. Also set backup images in case you are missing image types for a game.
Shutdown Theme: uses a static image in its current default state with the words "Thank you for playing..." displayed. You can use any static image you want. However, please note the text in the default one is scaled to a size to fit in the background image's marquee. There is an alternate Shutdown xml file that will be pretty generic. The Shutdown text in that one is in the middle of the screen and would be better for those preferring their own image. There are read me files in the folders with simple steps to change the shutdown.
If you prefer use the game specific backgrounds and games images in the shutdowns I will be uploading a version of this theme that will use the game fanart backgrounds.
Installation:
1. Download the Framed Platform_Static Background v1.0.0.zip file and unzip it into the Launchbox\StartupThemes\ folder.
2. Install the supplied font.
3. In Launchbox go to Tools>Options>Game Startup and choose the appropriate named theme.
I will be adding more platform xml files in an update after the holiday. There is probably about 100 in there now.

Center Logo Startup Theme
By Retro808 in Startup Themes
So took a stab at editing the default theme to tinker a little to learn and see what I can accomplish. It was pretty fun attempting and the trial and error kept my up late a couple nights. Here is what I came up with. Remember I am not a coder so if anyone peaks at the xml file and sees some fixes or a better way please let me know. I am all ears.
Thanks @neil9000 for the inspiration as it was your 3D version I modified. Thanks to the other theme developers as it was your codes in your themes I looked over to see how things work. Thanks @Jason Carr for giving me something to tinker with on a daily basis.
I claim no credit to any artwork displayed or included in the theme. Any images included were taken from Google and if you know the creator please mention so I may credit.
IMPORTANT: Launchbox 9.2 Beta 1 or higher required for Startup Themes.
Version 1.0
Startup theme moves the clear logo to the center with the "Now Loading..." offset to the left. 3D Box, Screenshot, and Cart or Spinning Disc (for CD based games) are in the main view.
Shutdown theme uses a static image in its current default state with the words "Thank you for playing..." displayed. You can use any static image you want. Simply choose your image and place it in the Launchbox/StartupThemes/Center Logo/Background folder and name the file Default.jpg
You can edit the shutdown text and color by editing the Default Shutdown.xml and looking for the following section:
<TextBlock Text="Thank You For Playing..." Foreground="Aqua" HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center" FontSize="80" FontStyle="Italic" FontWeight="Bold" Typography.Capitals="AllSmallCaps" /> If you prefer use the game specific background and games images in the shutdown simply open the Alternate XAML folder then copy the Game Specific.xml and paste it into the root folder renaming it Default Shutdown.xml. In the Alternate XAML folder is the Game Specific.xaml and the Static Image.xml to keep as backups.
Installation:
Download the Center Logo.zip and unzip it into the Launchbox/StartupThemes folder. In Launchbox go to Tools>Options>Game Startup and choose the appropriate named theme.
If you need to add other disc based systems to the startup theme simply copy any cd based xml file in the theme's folder and paste into the same folder then rename the file exactly as your platform name appears in Launchbox.

Nintendo 2DS / 3DS XL Bezels
By Retro808 in Platform Bezels/Overlays
2DS and 3DS XL Bezels for use with Retroach. I have included versions that have the handheld screens as they normally appear and versions with the screens modified. RA has no screen gap setting in the Citra core like the DS core does so the screens display on top of each other touching. Last two pics are of what the unaltered handheld screen looks like in the bezel images included.
Also there is a Retroarch cfg file if you simply place the extracted folders in your overlay folder of RA the .cfg inside will allow you to hot key switch between several colors of the 2DS or 3DS. There is a folder for 2DS and for 3DS. Each contains a read me showing the custom screen settings to use with either. Be sure to set your control map for "next overlay" to change on the fly.
3 color versions of each handheld and each has 2 background versions. The original screen versions will be in a subfolder called "alternate version".

Nintendo DS/DSi Bezel
By Retro808 in Platform Bezels/Overlays
Nintendo DS/DSi Bezels for use with Retroach. 3 Colors of the DSi handheld with one background for all three.
Also there is a Retroarch cfg file if you simply place the extracted folders in your overlay folder of RA the .cfg inside will allow you to hot key switch between the three colors something I learned from @JamesBaker. Also credit to Orion's Angel youtube channel for showing me how to set up the custom video settings. The .cfg is set to default the red image first. If you prefer to have another color as the default edit the .cfg and change the color names in the order you want. You must use the name of the .png.
