1. Version 2.0 of the D&D M&M Platform... now with 3D Images! After months of searching through countless images on numerous websites then fabricating nearly 1000 new 3D images, I am finally proud to bring you Version 2.0 of the Dungeons & Dragons Manuals & Modules Launchbox Platform. It now has the following enhancements. 960 new 3D images all created by yours truly using Photoshop and a lot of time and learning. The images may not be perfectly accurate, sized, or shaped renditions of the original book, box, accessory, or component but they are quite good representations. Here on the LaunchBox forums is the only place you will find any 3D image collection of this magnitude of these original Dungeons & Dragons items. Nowhere else will have these! Searching for box side art, photoshop mockups, and action files plus fabricating all of these was a massive undertaking that I began last March. There will definitely be updates to images as I find better shots of side art, better PSD mockups, and better actions files. In addition to the 3D images, I fixed a few hundred 2D images by cropping, blending, or replacing distorted, truncated, or otherwise poor images. Resampled many images that were either too large or too small so the size of the image cache is now much smaller and more evenly distributed. The old image collection was quite large (~5.5 GB). The new collection is similar in size but contains over 960 more images. Minor description and filename fixes. Follow the directions below in order to install. You can basically bolt this pack on by placing the folders in the archive into the corresponding LaunchBox folders. Fabricating these images was a massive undertaking which has, hopefully, help to preserve the beauty of TSR's artwork. In addition, the synopsis for each TSR item, from D&D's inception to the end of 2nd Edition, is included with each image. If you're a Dungeons & Dragons fan, whether casual or serious, I hope you will enjoy the D&D M&M platform. More importantly, if you have never much paid attention to the Dungeons & Dragons universe, I hope this platform will spark you interest. Please take a risk and install the platform if for no other reason than to enjoy the beautiful artwork. With a new Dungeons & Dragons movie in the works, I am hoping this platform may introduce or refamiliarize you to the world of D&D, preparing you for the onslaught of D&D fiction that is surely to come. The PDF files these images are associate with are NOT included with this platform. A simple Google search will return a TROVE of results. Please let me know your thoughts on this system and the images. The images will continue to be updated as I find better photos to work with. I really enjoy hearing from D&D fans that enjoy the game/artwork as much as I do. NOTE: In addition to this LaunchBox Platform being a graphical way to launch your games/PDFs, this system is also for historical and educational preservation purposes. Hope you Enjoy!
2. Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition - Manuals & Modules View File After months of amassing the artwork, descriptions, playlists, and details, I have the first version of the Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition Launchbox Platform! The system contains artwork for around 486 PDF files and 14 Playlists detailing manuals, adventures, errata, character sheets, DM rewards, etc. for use in your 5th edition gaming sessions. This is not a video game system but a PDF e-reader system for Dungeons & Dragon 5th Edition. THERE ARE NO D&D5E PDFs FOR DOWNLOAD, ONLY IMAGES AND DB FILES FOR USE WITH LAUNCHBOX! I will NOT provide you with PDFs or links to them. A simple Google search will return a "Trove" of results. If you already possess the PDF modules/books, this is simply an art-driven way to collect them all together and make it easy to find and launch for your D&D 5E gatherings. Simply extract the RAR archive to the ..\Launchbox\ directory. Once the files have fully extracted, open LaunchBox. You should see the new D&D 5th Edition Platform, although it may need the Playlists reattached. In order to get the playlists to show up under the 5th Edition Platform, you'll need to do one of the following: BACK UP ANY XML FILES BEFORE YOU EDIT THEM. I am not responsible for you damaging your playlists, parents, or platforms. WHILE INSIDE LaunchBox, set the left menu to PLAYLISTS. Right click on each D&D5E playlist and select EDIT. Click on the Parents Tab. Click the + next to the directory tree. Check the box next to D&D 5th Edition. (OPTIONAL) A bit faster way to do this for those that know how to edit XML code. CLOSE LAUNCHBOX. COPY the XML code from the included Parents-D&D5E.XML file and APPEND it into the PARENTS.XML file located in your ..\LaunchBox\Data\ folder. DO NOT OVERWRITE THE FILE OR YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR PARENTS. Re-open LaunchBox. If you were successful, you should see the Playlists under the D&D 5th Edition Platform. To add the D&D 5th Edition Platform Description, You will need to do one of the following BACK UP ANY XML FILES BEFORE YOU EDIT THEM. I am not responsible for damaging your playlists, parents, or platforms. Inside LaunchBox, set the left menu to PLATFORM CATEGORY. Right-click on the D&D5E PLATFORM and select EDIT. Click on the NOTES Tab. PASTE in the following description from Wikipedia: In January 2012, Wizards of the Coast announced that a new edition of the game, at the time referred to as D&D Next, was under development. In direct contrast to the previous editions of the game, D&D Next was developed partly via a public open playtest. An early build of the new edition debuted at the 2012 Dungeons & Dragons Experience event to about 500 fans. Public playtesting began on May 24, 2012, with the final playtest packet released on September 20, 2013. The 5th edition's Basic Rules, a free PDF containing complete rules for play and a subset of the player and DM content from the core rulebooks, was released on July 3, 2014. The Starter Set was released on July 15, featuring a set of pre-generated characters, a set of instructions for basic play, and the adventure module Lost Mine of Phandelver. The Player's Handbook was released on August 19, 2014. The fifth edition Monster Manual was released on September 30, 2014. The Dungeon Master's Guide was released on December 9, 2014. The edition returns to having only three core rule books, with the Player’s Handbook containing most major races and classes. Mechanically, 5th edition draws heavily on prior editions, while introducing some new mechanics intended to simplify and streamline play. Skills, weapons, items, saving throws, and other things that characters are trained in now all use a single proficiency bonus that increases as character level increases. Multiple defense values have been removed, returning to a single defense value of armor class and using more traditional saving throws. Saving throws are reworked to be situational checks based on the six core abilities instead of generic d20 rolls. Feats are now optional features that can be taken instead of ability score increases and are reworked to be occasional major upgrades instead of frequent minor upgrades. The "advantage/disadvantage" mechanic was introduced (and was inspired by the mechanics of the avenger class from 4th edition), streamlining conditional and situational modifiers to a simpler mechanic: rolling two d20s for a situation and taking the higher of the two for "advantage" and the lower of the two for "disadvantage" and canceling each other out when more than one apply. The power system of 4th edition was replaced with more traditional class features that are gained as characters level. Clerics, druids, paladins, and wizards prepare known spells using a slightly modified version of the spell preparation system of previous editions. Healing Surges are replaced by Hit Dice, requiring a character to roll a hit die during a short rest instead of healing a flat rate of hit points. (OPTIONAL) A bit faster way to do this for those that know how to edit XML code. CLOSE LAUNCHBOX. COPY the Platforms-D&D5E.XML file and PASTE it OVER THE EXISTING D&D 5TH EDITION section in the Platforms.XML file located in your ..\LaunchBox\Data\ folder. If you don't see the platform in the XML, STOP what you are doing. You may not have extracted the Platform to the correct location or opened Launchbox since extraction. Re-open Launchbox. If you own a copy of BigBox, open it up and view the D&D 5th Edition Platform. The Platform looks the best under the CriticalZoneV2 theme. There will certainly be future updates as I refine the platform more. If you encounter any bugs or have trouble getting the platform to work, please let me know. Hope you enjoy! 3. I see what's going on now. Under VIEWS - PLATFORM LIST VIEW, BigBox does the following: THEME: CritialZone V2 Default 1. Platform Wheel 1 - NO Platform Video plays but Background Artwork shows for Playlists. 2. Platform Wheel 2 - Platform Video plays in a square box but NO Background Artwork shows for Playlists (just a green glow). 3. Platform Wheel 3 - Bigger square Platform Video plays but NO Background Artwork shows for Playlists (it's all black and empty). 4. Platform Wheel 4 - Square Platform Video plays but NO Background Artwork shows for Playlists (just a green glow). 5. Text List With Details - NO Platform Video plays but Full screen Background Artwork shows for Playlists. THEME: Default 1. Platform Wheel 1 - Platform Video plays in FULLSCREEN but NO Background Artwork shows for Playlists. 2. Platform Wheel 2 - Platform Video plays in FULLSCREEN but NO Background Artwork shows for Playlists (same look as #1). 3. Platform Wheel 3 - Platform Video plays in FULLSCREEN but NO Background Artwork shows for Playlists (same look as #1). 4. Platform Wheel 4 - Platform Video plays in FULLSCREEN but NO Background Artwork shows for Playlists (same look as #1). 5. Text List With Details - Platform Video starts but then is instantly replaced with Clear Logo. This happens for all Platform Categories. Full screen Background Artwork shows for Playlists. Is it possible to have the Platform Category Video play as well as have Playlists show background artwork with either of these themes?
4. Visual Pinball - 300+ Clear Logos View File Visual Pinball clear logos pack consisting of 300+ images collected and edited from sites like VPForums, Pinsimdb, Google image search, Hyperspin Forums, and other users' collections. NOTE: These logos may be large and, in most cases, were originally intended for use with HyperPin and HyperSpin. They can be easily resized in HyperSpin and LaunchBox but BigBox apparently doesn't allow for resizing (that I can find). If you need smaller versions of the images, let me know and I will post an update. TO VIEW THESE IMAGES DO THE FOLLOWING: 1. Remove any images in your ..\LaunchBox\Images\Visual Pinball\Clear Logo folder 2. Unzip the archive to the same folder. 3. Delete your LaunchBox and/or BigBox cache. 4. Set LB/BB to show Clear Logos for the Visual Pinball games. 6. This is very kind of you to say, thank you so much! Yes, this was quite labor intensive but I did have a good time putting it all together. Finding and using the GhostScript PDF image extraction program proved to be extremely useful and somewhat fun getting it to work as well as it did. Please let know if you need any further information on how to set up the system so it appears like the images above. There are around 18 playlists that I have already created for the system which are included in the downloads from my MEGA site. Image 4 & 7 in the original post shows some of the playlists with background artwork specific to that setting/campaign. Playlists include following (LaunchBox and BigBox respectively): Again, thanks, I hope you enjoy and get some use out of it. I really mostly love the artwork and reading about all the classic monsters.
7. Glad you like it! Yeah, the default for desktop background change is every 30 minutes, I believe. You can use the VBS script to cycle through the images to get back the Tempest, then just turn shuffle off in the Windows Background settings menu. I'll probably add a few more images in the future. BTW, if you like Dungeons & Dragons games at all, check out my D&D Platform... it needs more love

This is the ONLY Windows 10 Arcade Classics Desktop Theme available anywhere (that I could find)! I know this is not specifically LaunchBox related but it is retro-gaming related so I though I would share. NOTE - YOU DO NOT NEED LAUNCHBOX TO USE THIS THEME. I created this desktop theme for Windows 10 from 33 images and 30 wave files found around the internet and use them for my arcade cabinet. I take no credit for any of the images or sounds but thought I would share the theme in case anyone's interested. I put the Sound Scheme and Images together to create an ARCADE CLASSICS WINDOWS 10 DESKTOP THEME. Most images are 1920x1080 except for 2 that are a bit bigger and don't look that good scaled down. IN ORDER TO GET THE SOUND SCHEME AND DESKTOP THEME TO WORK TOGETHER: 1. Place the Arcade Classics Folder containing the WAV files into your %WINDIR%/media folder. Press WINDOW KEY + R then type in %WINDIR%/media to open the folder. 2. Double-click on the ARCADE CLASSICS THEME file (Arcade Classics.deskthemepack). It should connect the sound scheme to the desktop theme. I also included a VBS script that makes the desktop wallpaper rotate to the next random image and a shortcut to this script that makes it easy to double-click and run the script. You WILL NEED TO EDIT THE SHORTCUT depending on where you move the VBS script but I included it for completeness. Put the VB-SCRIPT wherever you'd like then edit the shourtcut to point to the vb-script. I have my script in my ../Hyperspin/ folder and the shortcut on my desktop but you can place it in your Launchbox directory or wherever you'd like. Enjoy, and let me know in the comments below if you have any issues with the theme or what your favorite images are. I like Space Invaders, Star Wars, and Battle Zone the best.

12. Had to rename some of the image files on the MEGA site as they were a bit messed up. I'll soon be uploading the images to the DOWNLOADS section in hopes they will get a bit more attention there. What would really be great is if someone has Photoshop and CoverActionPro 3 or something similar so I could make 3D books out of all the images. Something like these:I really believe there is an audience for this platform but it just may not be reaching them. In the near future, I'll also be putting together a collection/playlist of as many D&D Video Game products as I can find. Such items would include things from MS-DOS, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, XBOX, Windows, etc. I'm really interested to hear peoples' feedback on this platform! Larry
13. Hello friends! Main D&D video now plays in both BigBox default themes but the background art for playlists has gone missing. This used to work fine... I have plenty of screenshots proving so. SEE POST #2. The video issue must have been fixed in a recent update but now playlist art is broken? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Does anyone know how to configure the BigBox settings so a video plays for the platform/platform category while artwork is displayed for the playlists? I can get it to do one or the other but not both with the 2 themes that come with BigBox. If a video plays in the platform category, no background artwork is displayed when viewing playlists (DEFAULT THEME). Conversely, if background artwork is displayed for playlists, no video is played in the platform category (CriticalZone V2 - DEFAULT). Is there a THEME or a way to get the Video to play for the Platform Category AND background artwork shown for the playlists? Is this not possible or perhaps a glitch? I've tried every setting I can find withing the options menu. I only need this type of setup for this one platform. Thanks for any help you can provide

Version 4.0.0 of the D&D M&M Platform Happy 50th Anniversary to Dungeons & Dragons! Well, after 6 years, this project has arrived at its FINAL version; coinciding with D&D's 50th Anniversary. This was quite a major endeavor that involved hundreds of hours searching for images, collecting data, fixing errors, Photo-Shopping images, finding and fabricating 3D models, creating playlists, recreating images, creating and keying in specifications for each item, and overall attempting to make the platform as robust as possible. I could probably spend several more months or even years on the finite data details but the image collection is, by and large, complete. I might possibly do some very minor updates in the future, if I find any glaring mistakes, but this is where the TSR-era D&D quest ends. If you’ve been along for the ride, and have downloaded previous versions, I hope you enjoyed the journey. If you are new to this platform, I hope you revel the rich artwork and detailed information. Finally, I hope you appreciate the effort and care put into this project. It has been a thoroughly enjoyable, experience gaining, hit-point sacrificing, magical adventure. Thanks so much to websites like TSRArchive, RPGGeek, DriveThruRPG, eBay, and Worthpoint which without these amazing sites, none of this would be possible. I must reiterate, however, that NO PDFs or Software are included with this platform. This retrospective image and data compilation is for the preservation, enjoyment, and appreciation of the mythology, artwork, history, development, and universe that is D&D The following is a probably not a complete list of the changes for v4.0, but I’ll do my best. Added 7 new TSR products including DragonLance Saga Graphic Novels Books 1-5 (fantastic adaptations of the DragonLance novels from TSR and DC Comics). DragonQuest Game 3rd Edition (TSR bought the rights from SPI then released a 3rd edition of the game). TSR11523 - Dungeons & Dragons - Adventure Game - The Adventure Begins Now (a variation of 11450). Over 330 new or updated Box – Front images. Many new images to replace blurry or truncated images. Resized images that were way too large. Blended colors to smooth blotchiness on many images. Much clearer or richer artwork. Over 380 new or updated Box – Back images. Many new images replaced blurry or truncated images. Resized images that were way too large. Blended colors to smooth blotchiness on many images. Removed stains/discolorations from numerous images. Fixed colors on many images so front and back images match. Over 150 new or updated Box – Spine images. Many new images replaced blurry or truncated images. Resized images that were way too large. Corrected lettering, coloring, trademarks, and logos on spine images so they better match box front images. The bulk of the work went into recreating nearly 770 Box – 3D images. ALL 3-D images are now 300 DPI. This completes the migration of the entire main D&D image collection to 300 DPI. Many new images replaced blurry or truncated images. Blended colors to smooth blotchiness on many images. Much clearer or richer artwork. Resized images that were way too large. Fixed nearly all manuals and modules width to better exhibit the thickness of the book. Fixed nearly all the boxed sets to better exhibit the proper box thickness. Most all the book spines can be viewed using the 3D viewer while the 3D display images show the page/book thickness. I felt these 2 different views/features of LaunchBox collectively give a better overall perception of the product's appearance. Updated TSR8441 - The Worlds of TSR with new hardback with dustcover 3D book model. Fixed/updated filenames on several items to better represent the product title. The new filenames are as follows: TSR3107 - Birthright - Domain Sourcebook - Player's Secrets of Tuornen TSR9451 - Ravenloft - Official Game Accessory - RR9 - Van Richten's Guide to the Ancient Dead TSR9477 - Ravenloft - Official Game Accessory - RR10 - Van Richten's Guide to Fiends TSR9495 - Ravenloft - Official Game Adventure - RR11 - Chilling Tales TSR9496 - Ravenloft - Official Game Accessory - RR12 - Van Richten's Guide to the Vistani TSR9498 - Ravenloft - Campaign Expansion - The Gothic Earth Gazetteer - A Masque of the Red Death Accessory TSR9529 - Ravenloft - Campaign Expansion - A Guide to Transylvania - A Masque of the Red Death Accessory TSR9543 - DragonLance - Fifth Age - Dramatic Supplement - Heroes of Sorcery TSR9546 - DragonLance - Fifth Age - Dramatic Supplement - Heroes of Hope TSR11450 - Dungeons & Dragons - Adventure Game - The Adventure Begins Now Greatly expanded the Series filter with numerous additions. Expanded the Setting filter with several new locations. Split the Core Rules playlist into 2 new, more meaningful playlists. New Spells & Magic playlist that includes mostly items for spellcasters. New Maps & Treasure playlist that includes mostly items for adventurers and fortune seekers. Added playlist icons for these 2 new playlists. The Core Rules playlist now mostly consists of handbooks specifically targeted at DMs and Players. Connected or corrected items to and from various other playlists. Renamed the RPGA playlist to RPGA/Tournament. Added several new entries to this playlist. Fixed many items that were associated with the wrong category/filter or ones that had no entry for a specific filter. Removed WM101-200 - Chainmail - 2nd Edition as it is neither a TSR nor an AD&D 2nd Edition WOTC product. SPECIAL NOTE: When installing the D&D Platform on the FREE version of LaunchBox, the LaunchBox application will automatically remove the custom filters from the Dungeons & Dragons XML file. If LaunchBox is later updated to the PAID version, it will no longer show/contain the custom filters. You will need to re-extract the Dungeons & Dragons XML from the RAR archive (\LaunchBox\Data\Platforms) then overwrite the existing XML in the ..\LaunchBox\Data\Platforms directory on your local drive. This must be done while the LaunchBox application is shut down. -----------------------------------------------------------INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For a new installation, just extract the LaunchBox folder in the archive into the same folder where your LaunchBox installation exists. Do the same even if you have a previous D&D installation but overwrite any/all D&D related files. This should update everything properly. However, there may be playlists and images with defunct filenames left over from any previous D&D installations. Delete these, if desired. Be sure to clear your image Cache in LaunchBox and BigBox to see the newest images. The paths to the Game/PDF files are all now set to Z:\ in the Dungeons & Dragons.xml, since I am currently using a network drive that contains my files. You can change this to your path by doing the following: Navigate to your \LaunchBox\Data\Platforms folder and open the Dungeons & Dragons.xml file in TEXT Editor program (such as Notepad++). Find/Replace Z:\ with yourpath\ - You can use a relative path such as ..\D&D\ or an absolute path such as C:\DnD\ Setting Up the D&D Platform after copying: Using your PC's Explorer/file system: Place your D&D PDFs in a folder that is at the same level as your LaunchBox directory (I use a network drive mapped to z:/D&D). See the image above on how to change that. Use FATMATCH or a similar program to rename your PDFs so they are similar to the image filenames: https://emumovies.com/files/file/227-fatmatch-file-renamer/ Selecting Platform Categories should make the D&D Platform automatically appear. If it doesn't, you can do the following: Within the LaunchBox Application Add a new Platform by selecting TOOLS ==> IMPORT ==> ROM Files Select the folder where you've stored your PDFs. In my case it's c:/D&D If you use a folder named D&D that's at the same level as your LaunchBox folder, you'll only need to scan in a few files. This is just to get the Platform to show up. The relative paths for the PDFs are already set to ..\D&D\ in the LaunchBox Dungeons & Dragons XML. If you store your PDFs in a different named folder or at a different level then you'll have to rescan all the files. It's easier just to rename the directory. You can also FIND/REPLACE the ..\D&D\ path in the Dungeons & Dragons XML with your path. For example, if your D&D PDFs folder is c:\Emulators\Dungeons & Dragons, you would need to set the <ApplicationPath>..\D&D\ for every game in the XML to <ApplicationPath>..\Emulators\Dungeons & Dragons\ I have done this installation numerous times on different PCs to test. If you need help, please ask. I am not responsible if you mess up your LaunchBox installation In order to attach a D&D playlist to the main Dungeons & Dragons Platform, perform the following steps within LaunchBox: On the left drop-down menu select Playlists. This should allow you to see all the D&D Playlists I've created. Right-click on a playlist and select EDIT. Click the Parents tab Unckeck the ROOT checkbox Check the box next to Dungeons & Dragons To get the D&D 3D images to show up do the following: Select the Dungeons & Dragons menu item in LaunchBox Navigate to TOOL ==> VIEW ==> IMAGE GROUP ==> 3D BOXES To have the PDFs Launch with the PDF reader of your choice: In LaunchBox, select ALL images that pertain to PDFs Right-click on one of the images and select EDIT. The BULK Edit window will pop up. Select EMULATOR from the Field and change the value to either Adobe Acrobat or Rocket Launcher I use Soda PDF reader version 7.2.03 (it's FREE) connected to RocketLauncher. I've included the required Rocket Launcher scripts in the download archive. RocketLauncher already has built-in AHK files for Soda PDF which makes it super easy to run properly. Soda PDF has a nice 3D page-turning effect which makes the manuals more realistic. If you'd like to use Adobe Acrobat (or some other PDF Reader) you can easily add it as an emulator in LaunchBox. Right-click on 1 image and select EDIT. Add Adobe Acrobat as a new emulator as seen in this image. To have the background image in LaunchBox be the same as the Box-Front image, perform the following steps: Navigate to TOOL ==> OPTIONS Click on Background Priorities and check the BOX-FRONT checkbox. Set the Default Background to Use Blown Up Art To get all D&D screenshot images to display for previewing, check the BOX-FRONT, BOX-BACK, BOX-3D, and BOX-SPINE checkboxes in SCREENSHOT Priorities. If you are missing artwork for the Video Games Playlist, do the following in LaunchBox: Open the D&D Video Games Playlist do CTRL+A to select all items in the playlist. Click the Main Menu (the 3 horizontal lines) in the upper left-hand corner. Select Download Metadata and Media. The D&D Video Games Playlist is by no means complete for every console and arcade title out there. It presently contains mostly PC games. If you have an extensive library, add any and all games you'd like to the playlist. If you want to add a description to the main D&D Platform, do the following in LaunchBox: Open the D&D Platform Notes text file included in the ZIP archive. Right-Click on the Dungeons & Dragons Platform and select EDIT. Click on the Notes tab. Copy then Paste the text from the D&D Platform Notes into the NOTES text box. Click OK -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------- BACKGROUND ---------------------------------------------- I've been working on a this LB Dungeons & Dragons system, for educational and historical preservation purposes (and for personal enjoyment), for quite some time now. I originally made it for my Hyperspin installation but finally decided to try it out for Launchbox. Once I saw how feature-rich LaunchBox is, I decided to rework this D&D system for LB. There will definitely be updates to the filenames, images, and notes as I find misspellings, omissions, grammatical errors, and other mistakes. I did not type all the notes myself but found a lot of information and back-cover descriptions for each file on sites such as rpggeek.com, tsrbothgunsblazing.com, tomeoftreasures.com, waynesbooks.com, dmsguild.com, worthpoint.com, and several others. Much of the data on these sites had a lot of misspellings, omissions, and grammatical errors so I did my best in refining the data. If you're a Dungeons & Dragons player, enjoy reading the mythology, or simply enjoy the artwork, you may enjoy this LaunchBox system. The games within the system consist of Dungeons & Dragons rulebooks, gaming modules, cards, and boardgames from Original D&D all the way through the end of AD&D 2nd Edition (~1972-2000). This is not a video game system but a PDF e-reader system. THERE ARE NO D&D PDFs FOR DOWNLOAD, ONLY IMAGES AND DB FILES FOR USE WITH LAUNCHBOX! I will NOT provide you with PDFs, PC CD ISOs, or links to them. If you already possess the PC programs or PDF modules/books, this is simply an art-driven way to collect them all together and make it easy to find and launch for your gaming sessions. You may be wondering how it works with a PDF reader. Well, I use Soda PDF with Rocket Launcher and it works amazing. Please search for and download Soda PDF reader (it's FREE!) version 7.2.03 and connect it to RocketLauncher. RocketLauncher already has built-in AHK files for Soda PDF which makes it super easy to run properly. I also like to view the PDFs in 3D as it has the nice page-turning effect. I've included several playlists that make up the various game settings such as Forgotten Realms, Planescape, Ravenloft, and DragonLance. As you can see in the examples, I use the front page of the manual as the background for the selected item. Using the FLIP feature, you may also view the artwork/descriptions from the backs of every item. I also included several background images and logos for the various playlists. It definitely needs more work to reach its full potential but I am happy with how it's turned out so far. I really hope you like the D&D Platform. Please let me know your thoughts on improving what I have already. If any of you awesome artists would like to contribute to this platform, by all means, please do so! NOTE: This system has not been set up with any custom BigBox themes except the 2 that come included with BigBox. If you use a custom theme, you'll need to move the images to the proper folders. I'm hoping, at some point, this D&D system can be part of the automatic downloads one receives when setting up a new platform. Please let me know if you encounter any issues with the release. Enjoy! -------------------------------------------------------------------CHANGE LOG---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version 3.9.0 of the D&D M&M Platform Welcome to the latest update of the Dungeons & Dragons Manuals & Modules LaunchBox Platform. This release is the most ambitious yet. The work put into this release accounts for months of searching for images, Photoshopping images, fixing errors, updating data, and overall making the whole Platform much more aesthetically pleasing. The following changes are likely not a complete picture of what's been accomplished but I will do my best: Found and added 2 new product images, that I just recently discovered, bringing the total number of items to 962. TSR8420 - Catacombs Books - The Ultimate Maze Solo Quest - Faerie Mound of Dragonkind. TSR8422 - Catacombs Books - Forgotten Realms - Solo Quest - Knight of the Living Dead. Searched, found, edited, and added hundreds of Book Spine images bringing the total to a complete 962 Box Spines. Fabricated around 280 new Box Spine images. Over 100 of these images are newly crafted Book Spines. All book images now show the beauty of the entire soft or hard-cover manuals. Recreated several hundred Module spine images so the cover flow is much more appealing. Recreated over 40 Boxed Set Spine images with much sharper and more detailed artwork. Fixed numerous Box Spine images so they correctly show the LEFT side of the original product box. High attention to detail in getting all the symbols, logos, and trademarks in the proper place. There are still a few dozen more that need to be reimaged. Resampled all Box Spine images to 300 DPI. Resampled All Box Front, Box Back, and Clear Logo images to 300 DPI. Recreated 128 new Box 3D images Using the newly reimaged Box Spines, many 3D box images needed recreating. Recreated around 10 new hardback book images. The images now show the box detail much clearer and more detailed. Resampled these newly created images to 300 DPI. Still need to resample and/or fix ~ 565 more 3D Box Images. Added/Changed filter categories. Added a new filter called Series. This allows searching by the product series such as A - Adventure, B - Basic, C - Competition, D - Drow, etc. Changed the filter AUTHOR to DESIGNER, which better describes the product's creator. Fixed some misspellings. Fixed numerous items that were missing a filter category such as Year, Designer, Pages, or Format. Added a Striped Modules Playlist. This was done originally just to collect modules together that had a top solid border or a left corner stripe. The Box Front, Box Spine, and Box Back images were all then adjusted so the border runs seamless from front to back when viewed in the 3D viewer. It turned out to be such an interesting playlist, I kept it for posterity's sake. Edited numerous other (non-striped) book images from front to back so the cover art appears seamless when viewed in the 3D viewer. Renamed the Basic/Expert/Companion D&D playlist to Basic/Expert/Master D&D. Updated over 200 Box Front images. Over 100 were edited to adjust the top striped border. The rest were to provide much better, sharper artwork. Updated over 200 Box Back images. Over 100 were edited to adjust the top striped border. The rest were to provide much better, sharper artwork. Changed the names of a few files to more correctly represent the title. TSR8421 - Catacombs Books - DragonLance - Solo Quest - Gnomes-100, Dragons-0.png ---> TSR8421 - Catacombs Books - A DragonLance Solo Quest - Gnomes-100, Dragons-0 TSR9114 - Expert Game Adventure - XL1 - Quest for the Heartstone.png ---> TSR9114 - Expert Game Adventure - XL-1 - Quest for the Heartstone TSR9123 - Official Game Adventure - Conan - CB1 - Unchained!.png ---> TSR9123 - Official Game Adventure - CB1 - Conan - Unchained! This latest update is the culmination of months of data and image editing, while the entire platform is an avocation that I've been working on since 2018. You can simply extract the archive file to the directory where you have your LaunchBox directory installed. You may want to delete the D&D Images folder, if you have one already installed, to make sure you see the latest images and filenames, before extracting but it's not necessary. If I forgot to include anything, I will upload minor version updates, once I discover them. There should be another major update in a few months. Thanks so much to websites like RPGGeek, TSRArchive, DriveThruRPG, eBay, and Worthpoint which without these amazing sites, none of this would be possible. I must reiterate, however, that NO PDFs or Software are included with this platform. This is 100% for the preservation, enjoyment, and appreciation of the mythology, artwork, and universe that is D&D. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version 3.3.3 of the D&D M&M Platform Some significant updates to hundreds of images, especially box spines. Many spine images now have much sharper artwork and align much better with the associated box front cover art. While these updates may not be immediately noticeable, they greatly improve the overall aesthetic of the platform. All you need to do it extract the first archive. It will automatically extract all files from both parts. 490 new/redesigned spine images (680 total) Updated or added numerous Boxed Set spine images with richer and sharper artwork. Changed hundreds of module and softcover spines so they are thinner and align better with the front cover. Spine images for Boxed Sets, Modules, and Softcover Accessories now align properly with their front cover counterparts. Updated the trading card boxed sets so the orientation and 360-degree rotation of the box is continuous from front to back. Still need to add ~300 softcover manual spine images. This will take months to complete so I wanted to get all the easier fixes done first. 15 redesigned 3D Box Images. Updated several boxed set 3D images using the newer box spine images. New 3D image model for the two 3-Ring Binder products. TSR2102 - Monstrous Compendium - MC1 - Volume One. TSR2105 - Monstrous Compendium - MC4 - DragonLance - Appendix. Altered the thickness of some boxed set images. 9 redesigned Box Front Images. Updated with richer and sharper images. Blended some front-covers so the color and image alignment matches the box spine images 11 redesigned Box Back images. Updated with richer and sharper images. Fixed/renamed the main D&D Platform Icon so it now appears in LaunchBox. Slight edits to the D&D Platform Description Notes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version 3.1.1 of the D&D M&M Platform Added ~350 more spine images for the modules. None of these thin modules have any specific graphics or text on their spines so it was easy to create a Photoshop Action then have Photoshop bulk generate them. Fixed 8 Box spines that were not cropped properly. Split the Download file into 2 files: The ~5.9GB file is apparently too large for a successful download, so I reworked the file. I changed the file type from ZIP to RAR, shortened the filename, and then split it into 2 files, in order to get it downloading and extracting properly. If you downloaded this before, please try again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version 3.0.0 of the D&D M&M Platform VERSION 3.0.0 IS OUT! From all the excitement surrounding the Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves movie, I thought it would be prudent to celebrate with the latest Dungeons & Dragons Manuals & Modules release. With the addition of new LaunchBox functionality, such as box spines, icons, filters, and custom fields, an enormous amount of data, images, and information was added to the Dungeons & Dragon Manuals & Modules Platform. There is so much new content, I'll need to roll a successful intelligence check to remember what was added/changed. Box Spines: 214 new Box - Spine left-sided images created for all boxed sets, all hardcovers books, and several soft cover products. These allow 214 of the 960 images to be viewed using LaunchBox's new 360-degree image viewer. Softcover and module spine images will be included in a later release as it will take several months to find and Photoshop the 300+ spine images. 22 Playlist Icons added. These new icons can be viewed in the LaunchBox left-hand playlist menu. 218 (whew!) updated Box - 3D images. Many softcover books now better represent the proper page-count and thickness of the original printed manuals. Dragon Magazines, around a dozen boxed sets, and several softcover manuals had their images completely refurbished from higher resolution photos, better preserved products, and include proper rear covers. Several images have been redesigned with new 3D models (see #7 below). 28 updated Box - Front images with much sharper and richer artwork. 18 updated Box - Back images with much sharper and richer artwork. 7 new custom fields that make searching/filtering for a product or series much easier. These new data fields expand not only the knowledge base of the original products but aid with historical preservation as well. Author: Usually 1 or more of the main contributors to the book, manual, module, or accessory. Category: Accessory, Adventure, Campaign Setting, Board Game, Core Rules, or Sourcebook. Values assigned to various items will likely change a bit in the future, as more data becomes available. Format: Hardcover, Softcover, Module, Boxed Set, Folding Cardstock, Leatherbound Book, et al. Pages: This helped greatly with redesigning many 3D images to better represent the book thickness of softcover manuals. Rule Set: Original D&D, AD&D 1st Edition, AD&D 2nd Edition, Basic, Expert, Companion, Master, Immortal, RPGA, Saga System, etc. Setting: Forgotten Realms, DragonLance, Ravenloft, Planescape, Lankhmar, Spelljammer, Greyhawk, Mystara, Birthright, et al. Year: Release Year of the product. This makes for a pleasurable and informative year-by-year journey though D&D history. 2 new types of 3D image designs: Folding Cardstock: Used to display products such as Dungeon Master's Screens. Leather-bound Books: Used for the 4 Encyclopedia Magica manuals (I love these!!!). Updates to some playlists to better represent a particular game setting. Updates to several filenames to better represent the product titles. Updates to game notes when errors or misspellings were found. I hope you're as excited to download version 3.0.0 of the D&D M&M Platform as I was to release it. Please let me know if you encounter any issues during setup. The XML file path for all items is set to Z:/ but I can help if anyone wants to use a different absolute or relative path. PLEASE SEE FURTHER INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS BELOW. Also, please make sure to backup your LaunchBox installation before making any big changes such a this. There are no LaunchBox core files included in this archive but it's always wise to have a backup plan just in case you're waylaid by any dishonorable thieves or savage troglodytes. But most of all... roll a natural 20 and ENJOY! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version 2.8.0 of the D&D M&M Platform A huge update to the Dungeons & Dragons Manuals & Modules Platform that includes the following: 36 NEW/Fixed 3D images 11 newly created 3D images including the ALQ1-8 Al-Qadim series, Diablo II Adventure set, GR1 Strongholds, FR8 Cities of Mystery. 25 fixed images including Dungeon Master Decks boxes, 1993 Collector Cards, and several other boxed sets. 37 Fixed Box Front images - much sharper and richer artwork 12 Fixed Box Back images - much sharper and richer artwork 12 Playlists Updated/Created Greatly expanded the playlist data for Greyhawk & Mystara. The items added to these playlists do a much better job of expanding and understanding the worlds. Removed Original/Basic/AD&D D&D Playlist and created the 1st Edition Playlist and Basic/Expert/Companion D&D playlist which identifies the editions of these products much better. Updated the AD&D 2nd Edition, Board Games, Core Rules, Forgotten Realms, Monster Manuals, Planescape, & Ravenloft playlists with several additions to each. Moved items out of playlists where items should not have belonged to that playlist in the first place. Combined the Oriental Adventures Playlist with the Forgotten Realms playlist. Replaced a few Playlist Clear Logos Greyhawk Adventures had Adventures (aventures) misspelled but is now correct. DragonLance was using the Fifth Age logo but now uses the correct original logo. Added New Dungeons & Dragons logo for Basic/Expert/Companion D&D Replaced numerous Playlist Fanart images. Updated some existing images with better quality ones. Added more images to all Playlist Fanart folders so there is more randomization of background art. Resampled all Fanart images to 1920x1080 so the images display properly when shown in the background. Removed artwork from post AD&D era. Playlists now include only artwork from the TSR era and for the proper setting in which the artwork was created. Added/replaced several more Fanart images to the main D&D Platform menu. Renamed 2 PDF filenames to more properly represent the product title. TSR9449 - Al-Qadim - Campaign - ALQ7 - Corsairs of the Great Sea TSR9467 - Al-Qadim - Campaign - ALQ6 - Cities of Bone Minor Notes/Product Description update. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version 2.0 of the D&D M&M Platform... now with 3D Images! After months of searching through countless images on numerous websites then fabricating nearly 1000 new images, I am finally proud to bring you Version 2.0 of the Dungeons & Dragons Manuals & Modules Launchbox Platform. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.1.1 - Added images to the Platform - D&D - Fanart folder so the main title in BigBox has artwork. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.1.0 - The latest updates to this Dungeon & Dragons Platform include the following Added new playlists Added descriptions to all playlists Added new images to various playlists. Some minor corrections in the various file descriptions. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.0.0 - Initial Release with 2D images and synopsis for each product.
15. Well, you're in luck! I just finished uploading the images, database, and video to my MEGA site. You can be the first one to test it out (although you may have to change your filenames to match the XML). I hope you enjoy! https://mega.nz/#F!tZtliI6Q!IrbOa3ig6xz40HV-tN31Ow Have a wonderful holiday and let me know if you come across any errors or problems with the download. I tried to make it somewhat of a bolt-on so all you need to do is drop the folders into the LaunchBox folder. I, hopefully, uploaded all the necessary files. Larry
16. Thanks, Jason, for the input. I was only going to release the images of the manual covers and backs, not the actual PDFs themselves. I would never share those. If it's OK, I may just link the images to my MEGA site. I did release all these "front of the box" images over on the Hyperspin forums a long time ago and there's never been any issues. I know a lot of people have similar images and descriptions on their websites (such as tsr.bothgunsblazing.com) but I am not sure if they ever dealt with any permissions from Wizards of the Coast. I think I have even seen image logos for Forgotten Realms and other D&D items on these forums. I guess I will upload the original larger images to MEGA and, if anyone wants smaller versions, I can easily shrink them.
17. Hey everyone, I hope you're having a wonderful day. I've been working on a new LB Dungeons & Dragons system, mostly for personal enjoyment, for quite some time now. I originally made it for my Hyperspin installation but finally decided to try it out for Launchbox. Once I saw how feature-rich LaunchBox is, I decided to rework this D&D system for LB. I extracted the front and back images from all modules and manuals, reworked almost every filename so they are longer and more descriptive, and added NOTES/Descriptions for all 960 files. This took a LONG time but was totally worth it (it gave me something to do). I think I started on it in September and worked on it as I had time but the 1st draft is finally here for you all to enjoy. If you're a D&D fan or simply enjoy the artwork, I think you may enjoy this system. The games within the system consist of Dungeons & Dragons rulebooks, gaming modules, cards, and boardgames from Original D&D all the way through the end of AD&D 2nd Edition (~1972-2000). This is not a video game system but a PDF e-reader system. Of course, there will definitely be updates to the filenames, images, and notes as I find misspellings, omissions, grammatical errors, and other mistakes. The images are quite large so each folder (front, back, background, etc.) of 960 images is around 2.5 GB. I am not sure if the community wants images in this size or if I should run them through some sort of image compression process so they are much smaller. I like having the originals but PLEASE LET ME KNOW how you would like them before I upload them Also, the painstaking effort of naming and describing every file was extremely time consuming. It would be awesome if there was some way to add not only the images but all the filenames (not the PDFs themselves of course) and notes to a online repository so others can simply download these images and notes files through the LB program. Of course, I will upload everything first so people can simply BOLT-ON the system and start enjoying it immediately but I wanted to get the admins' and users' responses for what I have so far. The whole system on my drive is over 8GB so I am sure it will need to be slimmed down quite a bit, You may be wondering how it works with a PDF reader. Well, I use Soda PDF with Rocket Launcher and it works amazing. I will detail how to set all that up once I post the files in the downloads section. PLEASE Let me know your thoughts! I will be posting the bolt-on of this system soon. I just need to slim down the size (unless people want the originals). Here are examples of the system so far: Best regards, Larry
18. Here's another demonstration where RetroGamesFan (https://twitter.com/retrogamesfan) plays DK on a Phoenix prototype:
19. I imagine the PS/2 is to keep costs down although I am in no way sure of any of the technology licensing aspects of the hardware. Those are questions for the developers. EDIT: Correct me if I am wrong but also I think PS/2 is one standard while there may be dozens of standards of USB keyboards that may need drivers? Again, cost is my guess. This console is definitely not for the casual observer but for those who perhaps own/owned a ColecoVision (or always wanted to) and want a modern system for modern TVs. All this can be easily played now with an emulator and any number of hardware devices from an Android, RetroPie, Modded Xbox/Wii/DreamCast, a PC, etc but the point is to play original cartridges and expansion modules on something that mimics the original hardware The hardware has been developed for years by CollectorVision and OpCode and sold on the AtariAge forums. People would send their console in for modding service at a cost of $200-$300. These guys just decided to put all their hardware together to make one awesome machine. There is in now way anything shady about this group. As for Coleco Holdings... you may want to read up on the whole spat between the collector/developer community and Coleco Holdings (and the failed/shady attempt it made at a new console). http://atariage.com/forums/topic/265739-coleco-strong-arming-homebrew-publishers-and-fan-sites/ http://atariage.com/forums/topic/283794-collectorvision-phoenix-kickstarter-is-now-live/ I am pretty sure if anyone messed with the good folks on the AtariAge forums they would be harshly dealt with. OpCode and CollectorVision are very trustworthy names in the community. Coleco Holdings is not. https://hackaday.com/2016/03/10/yet-another-kickstarter-scam/ I have done my homework for a long time with these guys so I have no worries. Here are their Twitter/Facebook pages: https://twitter.com/CollectorVision https://www.facebook.com/Collectorvision/ https://www.facebook.com/opcodegames/ https://twitter.com/opcodegames
20. Hey Everyone! If you a fan even somewhat of the ColecoVision, this may interest you. A group of savvy engineers from CollectorVision just implemented a Kickstarter for their new ColecoVision Phoenix Console http://kck.st/2ynKCVn I am NOT affiliated in any way with CollectorVision, this console, or the Kickstarter (other than backing it myself). I am just a big ColecoVision fan and am so happy to see this get released. Here are its amazing features: - Compatible with ALL original ColecoVision game cartridges! - 100% Accurate! - Region Free! - Worldwide Compatibility [PSU: 100-240v, 50-60hz] - HDMI Output - Digital audio via HDMI - Loads and plays games (ROMs) through the SD Card Slot - Sydney Hunter & the Caverns of Death (Exclusive pack-in Game cartridge with a $50 value) - 10 Built-in digital Homebrew games included! 21. I just saw this! Thanks for your kind words Please check out the new version and let me know if you like it.
22. JoyToKey Profiles for LaunchBox and Rocket Launcher View File What's New for Version 1.1.0: ADDED 7 New Systems (80 TOTAL) + LB/HS/RL/Default profiles. New systems include Sega Model 1, Sega System 16, Sega System 24, , Sega X Board, Sega Y Board, Pop-Cap, and Microsoft MS-DOS. Changed the ESC key functionality to buttons 7 + 8 (COIN+START). You must now press both to exit the game. Placed the ESC key location on Button 25 (a dummy location good for using combo buttons). Changed Button 5 to TAB. Changed Button 6 to P (PAUSE). Changed Button 9 to C. Changed Button 10 to V. Changed Button 11 to Z. Changed Button 12 to X. I'll see how this configuration works for me for the time being. If it's a pain or something is not quite right, I'll continue tweaking it until I find what's best. *********** BACK UP YOUR OLD PROFILES IN CASE YOU DON'T LIKE THE CHANGES *********** If you use Rocket Launcher as the primary emulator for Launch Box then this is for you. I created about 75 profiles for various systems, added them to a RAR archive, and attached to this post. All you have to do is unrar and place the folders within the archive into your ..\RocketLauncher\Profiles\JoyToKey directory. For example, mine is -- ..\RocketLauncher\Profiles\JoyToKey. You may need to edit the profiles so they are more to your liking or work correctly with your setup. I use the default MAME setup for everything. If you want to change one or all of them, all you have to do is edit only one CFG file, copy the CFG file to every other folder, and rename the CFG file and FOLDER to the name of the emulator you're using for the system. For example -- I use Rocket Launcher as the emulator for ALL my systems but, once RL starts, I use Stella for the Atari 2600. My path is then ..\RocketLauncher\Profiles\JoyToKey\Atari 2600\Stella\Stella.cfg Maybe you don't use Stella for the Atari 2600 but use RetroArch. Here's how to change it: You would simply rename ..\RocketLauncher\Profiles\JoyToKey\Atari 2600\Stella\Stella.cfg to ..\RocketLauncher\Profiles\JoyToKey\Atari 2600\RetroArch\RetroArch.cfg.It's the same path\folder\file but the innermost folder and cfg file have simply been renamed to match the emulator being used. It's tedious to copy, paste, and rename but it doesn't take too long. I've copied these files to from my Hyperspin machine to another PC that uses Launch Box, set up JoyToKey in Rocket Launcher via the tutorial link below, and found it working beautifully. MAME is a bit of a jerk, however. Sometimes it works straight away and sometimes you still have to map the game within the MAME TAB menu. I ONLY HAVE CONTROLLER 1 MAPPED IN THESE FILES! NOTE: There are NO games or programs within this archive. There are, however, 2 other files -- a BAT file for killing the JoyToKey process and a shortcut that gives that BAT file ADMIN privileges. As I use Hyperspin for my main machine, I am not yet sure if there is a way to have Launch Box use the JoyToKey.exe as the startup program and JoyToKeyKill.lnk as a shutdown program. Once I find out a way to get them to function, I will update this post. In the meantime, there shouldn't be too much trouble with it. 23. Version 1.1.0

490 downloads

What's New for Version 1.1.0: ADDED 7 New Systems (80 TOTAL) + LB/HS/RL/Default profiles. You can always exit JoyToKey manually if it causes you any issues. All files were created manually by me so there's no copyright issue. 24. I'm guessing that if you're using the FREE version of Launchbox your download speeds are throttled. Maybe I'll invest in LB someday but I've already put a lot of money, time, and effort into Hyperspin, EmuMovies, and RocketLauncher. I would like to be assured BEFORE I buy that if I paid for LB this wouldn't happen but until then I can only expect the same slow download frustration with the paid version.
25. I am having insanely slow downloads from EmuMovies through LB as well. Sega 32x took over an hour and there are only about 63 roms. Hyperspin's HyperSync is downloading very swiftly and I am on an extremely fast connection.
