Zombeaver
CRT Easymode Halation, 64 latency, threaded on. None of these are different from what they were before when it was working fine.
Zombeaver
And yes, I do have hard GPU turned on. But I've had it turned on since day one. Again, none of that stuff has changed in any way. I've had the RA core since it was released. It worked fine. I updated the core today. Not fine anymore. Updating the core is the only change. Lordmonkus
Yeah that shouldn't cause any issues. Light shader and high latency. I run with Royale-Kurozumi and 16 audio latency and Threaded Video which I needed for this shader. If I used a lighter shader like Easymode I could turn off Threaded Video. @kev25bHard GPU Sync On is one of the biggest reasons to use Retroarch. It reduces input lag.
Zombeaver
So now I'm really confused... I've moved the core and config elsewhere as a backup and then completely redownloaded the core...and it still has my custom resolution/viewport? What the hell? And of course the audio is still screwed too.

Well I thought maybe that was it too, but it's only pulling the settings for that specific core and there are no reference to the core specifically in Retroarch.cfg. If I pull up BSNES for example, it has different settings. If I switch back to Mednafen_Saturn (following a fresh delete/redownload), it loads the same old custom settings (from where, I can't figure out). Zombeaver
So...I seem to have fixed it...I guess. I have to turn frame delay to 0. I've had it on 4 for a while now and it's been fine. For whatever reason though, now it has to be on 0. Vsync/Hard GPU sync being turned off have no impact.
Lordmonkus
Ahh yeah good old frame delay. I completely forgot about that setting. It's a good setting to put up as high as you can before sound issues arise when you have v-sync on. I don't use v-sync however so I completely forgot about it. Zombeaver
Yeah I normally have it turned up - most stuff around 6ish but I specifically remember having to dial it down to 4 on Mednafen Saturn because higher than that was causing audio problems. I have no idea why I can no longer use it now...
Lordmonkus
Maybe something in the new build that needs just that tiny bit more power and lower frame delay.
Zombeaver
Could be, I dunno. I pulled up process monitor and I'm using like 20% CPU and 20% RAM while it's running...
Lordmonkus
Yeah who knows other than an emulator developer. I certainly won't pretend to know the details of it but I do know that the higher CPU requirement cores like BSnes I couldn't go as high on the frame delay. Back when I did use v-sync I could push the frame delay up to about 8 on most cores but BSnes Accuracy I could only go about 6 and even then it varied from game to game. Since making the switch to a G-Sync monitor and turning off v-sync I don't have to worry about frame delay.
fromlostdays
I have to confess I have no idea how to compile a core for RA. Is this core available for download? If so, link? If not, I'll probably just wait until it is. Thanks!
Lordmonkus
No need to compile anything. Just use the online updater tool within Retrorach and download the mednafen_saturn core.
