Still have some minor tinkering to do,  but from the base Colorful theme I have made a few changes:

- Fixed video aspect ratios in game view being messed up

- Fixed some minor text issues being cut off

- Fixed animation glitches in game view during fast scroll/attract mode

- Made game selection text box background colors all blue to match Vewlix Diamond cab.

I am not sure if all the grid boxes I added were necessary, but in case anyone else is having same issues these are the ones I added:

@skizzosjt Sorry to be a bother - last lingering issue for me is that the sound from the previous seleceted game is continuing during attract mode/scrolling as you can see in the video. Is there any way to have the audio stop for the previous game once I begin to navigate away?

Oh, and one other odd one. In the PlatformWheel1FiltersView there is a weird text glitch that shows up. For some reason the word 'Game' is bolded but the rest of the text is not and for the life of me I can not figure out how to toggle that. Pic attached.

for the video I use "update once selected" radio bubble and have a visibility condition that it is hidden unless the file exists. additionally I use animations to reduce opacity during selection, and return it to opaque once selected. I just tested a theory and if I remove the opacity animation setting that is making it 100% transparent (aka 0% opacity per CTC's slider parameter) during selection, it will now play sound during selection. so I would def make sure you use animations for 0% opacity during selection, and then 100% opacity once selected

 

for the "s" in games I would change it to something else like different font, size, color, etc, publish, and see what happens. do the changes actually go through? if not, then something is messed up. worse case scenario would be you can delete that element and recreate it. make sure font type and size matches the other bits of text boxes. also, font looks messed up all together in the bottom example. none of the font matches or is correct to top example. So another thought is you might not have the right font files installed. so make sure whatever font is being used in CTC, you have installed on your PC. you can include the font files within the theme's folder structure too. you can download all the Roboto family fonts for free if you don't have them, I think that was the majority if not all fonts.

@skizzosjt You're the GOAT! I had the 'once selected' animation set up for the main video, but after adding the 'during selection' 0% opacity it works perfect. Thank you again for your amazing help. Will get the text sorted now - I will just recreate the elements. I had installed the fonts previously, so must just be something goofy. Have a great rest of your weekend!

Edit: Fixed the text too with your suggestion. None of the text fields were displaying the fonts they were using (were just showing empty cells) but checking font file names in the theme fonts directory I saw it was Gilroy Bold. All fixed! Wahooooo!

I'm not sure if it's an improvement that would interest anyone, but I've used the video resources to create some new platform images with transparent screens. I've used these in place of the existing platform images and videos, and have standard gameplay videos running behind them. Now there are no issues with colour matching between the video and background. No issues with the transition between platform image and platform video anymore either.

Is it permitted to share my modified project files here if anyone would be interested?

Hi,

I have a problem with the big images for the consoles. for me they will not load. When scrolling consoles you can see their pictures, but once you land on a console its just a "press A button" with a big black empty void next to it. downloaded and unpacked as per instruction. This happens with both the light and dark version of the theme. other themes work fine for me. any suggestions on what the problem may be?

you do not have platform videos. download them from the link available on first page of this thread or from within LB via Tools > Download > Platform/Playlist/Category Theme Videos

files need to be in \LaunchBox\Videos\Platforms

or if you want them only theme specific and not global

\LaunchBox\Themes\<THEME NAME>\Videos\Platforms

Thanks for the guide :D. I started following it to try to get a similar result.

On the other hand, I have the impression that to make the modifications the paid version of "Community theme creator" is necessary?

I played with the theme a few years ago but I don't remember a patreon.

love the theme and will be using this as my favorite!

 

one question: is there a way to prioritise gameplay screenshots when the wheel stops at a game? it always keeps picking the title screen which mostly looks too similar to the box front in my opinion. havent seen the option in the custom theme options...

Go into Launchbox, not BigBox, and under Tools - Options - on the left, go to Screenshot Priorities, and make sure the Screenshot - Gameplay  is higher on the list that Screenshot - Game Title.  Should fix it for ya.

Alot of the options from Launchbox carry over to BigBox.

Hey I just noticed that the packaged theme doesn't have all the hardware image pngs.  Its missing a couple, but I only noticed when adding the PS4 platform.  I was able to copy from the 1x1 PNG link and it worked without issue, but I think maybe someone forgot to put it in the last patch or something.

Is there any progress with this theme? It's been years since the concepts of the third version...

P.S. I don't know how to match the colors of the Pokemon Mini with its video, I can't manage with the community creator...

The theme is a dual development between viking and faeran - viking on assets and faeran on code. Viking has had a lot of stuff to do irl and I'm not sure about faeran but either way an official v3 is still in active development and not forgotten about. I just know when it does get released it will be worth every bit of the wait ☺️

Apologies if I've missed it, but has anybody found a way to set it up so that the game view is similar to the platform view? 

Essentially, the idea is that you hover/highlight a console and it shows the console boot up and preview video as normal, but selecting the console would keep a similar view in the sense that the console would still remain visible, and all gameplay videos would be transformed to fit onto the screen of the console.  Basically: previewing a specific game on the console's screen (even better if the CRT filter is applied to it).  And even better would be applying the game's box art or cartridge art to the corresponding cartridge if visible on the console.

Has anyone tried something like this?

 

EDIT: found the raw console Photoshop files, working a bit on this myself in CTC.

I found a little error in colorful - Dark BB theme, don't know if anyone have already a solution.

The view for 'Category Platform' uses images taken by 'hardware set' folder, but for categories it doesn't load the 'Category_CATEGORYNAME.jpg' image, but just the jpg named 'CATEGORYNAME.jpg'. Not a big problem if you rename the jpg (es. 'Category Handheld.jpg' to 'Handheld.jpg'; the problem is for category Arcade where the arcade.jpg is already present for arcade games, so I can't have two different images accordingly to the two videos for category arcade and arcade.

I hope you can understand what I mean....sorry for my bad english!

it is possible to have arcade CATEGORY and arcade PLATFORM use their intended videos (light blue with set of cabs "A" for category, and purple with set of cabs "B" for platform) along with their proper hardware device image. I certainly made it work at least. you're gonna have to make some edits whether that is renaming files and/or changing names or conditions in LaunchBox or the theme.

It's kind of a shame. COLORFUL is probably the cleanest and most consistent Theme out there. However, there are so many color mismatches that in its current state it's unusable for me. It also doesn't seem that fixing this this is a priority.
