I would have liked to try it with my Ms-Dos games but using DOSBox (native to LaunchBox) I don't see it among the available emulators of BezelLauncher

I have never used DOSBox and have no idea how it even works.  If, when in Setup, your MS-DOS platform doesn't list it as an Emulator, then I truly have no idea.  Unless it has *mame* or *retroarch* in the executables file name, it's not being blocked from the plugin.

can you set your plugin to MelonDS Emulator too?

It´s a great emulador for Nintendo DS, but I couldnt found setting for MelonDS yet.

Thanks for your job, it´s really amazing!!!

    Thanks!

You can set it to most any emulator.  Regarding not finding settings, if you're referring to the recommended parameters settings in the Setup screen, if none are shown, it only means my team either hasn't tested that particular emulator or none of them are needed.

Per the instructions, the main thing is to make sure your emulator is not set to run fullscreen.  The just enable the platform (or emulator, depending on the plugin version you're using).

If you feel obligated to have a parameter selected, the most common combo is option 'g' and 'h'. ;)

I'll check tomorrow to see if we are able to test that emulator, or if in the meantime you find what seems to be 'the optimal parameter(s)', please let me know.

I would like to be able to choose emulators even if they are not the default ones.

    BezelLauncher 2.0.0-beta-1

This beta release is only available here (see below) and merely adds 1 new feature.

New Feature - Can now use any emulator associated with a platform.  (except for MAME and RetroArch)

You will need to run BezelLauncher Setup for it to work.  In Setup, select a platform then choose the emulator(s) you wish to use for that platform.  Emulators will need to be enabled one at a time (for each platform) by:

    •     selecting it,
    •     check "Disabled" (to enable it)
    •     and click Save

That's it.  Exit the Setup and launch a game normally to use your default emulator or right-click and select Launch With.. and choose an emulator you enabled during Setup.

This update does not affect the existing bezels nor their ini files, so no need to re-set those.

Anyone who wishes to test this, any feedback would be appreciated.  Thanks!

    Here's the beta  ------>  BezelLauncher (2.0.0-beta-1).zip

Install as per the Installing instructions in the description.

Wow! Incredible aportation to LB, and great job as with all other released plugins.

    Thanks!!

As this plugin seems to be done to use RocketLauncher Bezels, i would keep name structure inside file.ini, so no need to modify inside all .ini files. Only the filename name.

As a 'standard of the industry', the plugin can only use .png images that contains a transparent 'window' in it as a bezel.  RocketLauncher happens to follow the same standard for bezel images as this plugin.  So, whether you bring in your images from RL or somewhere else, as long as they have a transparent window, they'll work. :)

For the convenience of individuals coming over from RL, the plugin is designed to be able to use existing RL ini files without the need to modify its contents.   For all others, the plugin will generate [non-plagiarized] ini files.  However, I'm not sure if RL sets the emulator window the same way this plugin does.  But an unmodified RL ini file can be read to set emulator window position.  If not spot on, then at least close.

The other wish, would be to be able to have more than one Bezel for each Platform, Game, etc. and be able to change it with a key combo for example (As RL does). I think this would be very hard to code, but if you are bored anytime

I will add this to the request list with the promise that I will never inadvertently [or purposely] delete it so that it gets forgotten.  And that's about all I can promise. ;)

the emulator being used is the "default" one, although the log file says otherwise.

When you run BezelLauncher Setup, what does it show for your Sony Playstation 2 platform?

    image.thumb.png.a4563516a0e19a321206e72e9a60f80e.png

According to your log, the checkbox is un-checked, meaning it's not enabled.  What does is show in the Emulator.exe column?

When you select it, then on the right, click Disabled (changing it to Enabled), what does it list below the checkbox as the Default Emulator?

    image.png.4f7e5a32c340953821f3daa5c367fb70.png

If the platform is not listed at all, did you recently change its default emulator from RetroArch to PCSX2?

If you did change the default emulator (well, even if you didn't), I discovered clicking Refresh (as instructed under Maintenance) isn't working properly to update changes with a [new] default emulator.  Note: clicking Refresh may delete your "Sony Playstation2" folder located under "Bezels" in the plugin folder. So don't do that. ;)

I will be working on a fix for that today.

@JoeViking245 not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I haven't been able to get this plugin to work with PCSX2. It shows up in the list and everything configures properly, but the bezel won't display. By any chance have you tested this with PCSX2 yet?

I have and it seems to work without issue here.  When starting a game, does the PCSX2 window resize like how you set it up and just the bezel is not showing around it?  Or is PCSX2 going to and staying at full screen?  If it's going/staying full screen, have you told PCSX2 to not show full screen?

Actually, just looked at my settings (under Settings - Interface - Game Display) and "Start Fullscreen" is checked.  But in Graphics - Display, "Fullscreen Mode" is set to "Borderless Fullscreen".

Also, in BezelLauncher setup, PSCX2 shouldn't need any of the parameters checked.

    image.png.e2f35e7db49b6da86e843f334d59ee67.png

    I haven't tested with other variants of PCSX2 like pcsx2-qtx64-avx2.exe.  But I can't imagine that'd make a difference.

Can you zip up the Logs folder and attach it here?  (make sure you have started LB and have launched a PS2 game once or twice first)

  7. Update:

    v1.1.0
    - Added option to store game-specific bezels in subfolders
Game-specific bezel files can now be located in /Bezels/[platform name]/[ROM name (minus extension)]/ folder.
See updated Bezel Images in plugin description for more details.

    - New feature: (optional)
Games that have different versions combined as Additional Apps can all use the Default Games' bezel. Eliminates the need to have a
separate set of bezel files for each version of the game. Thanks to @zugswang for help with testing!
See Launching different game versions in the plugin description for more details.

Don't forget you can also use Vertical and Horizontal folders within the system folder in RL, so you had a fallback/main for Vert/Horizontal games, and RL would use the ratio/screen size to determine what was to be used, also the ability to use on the fly changing of the "default" bezel as long as you had multiple ini/png's and the file name matched (i used this function a lot)

Good to know. Something maybe to look into on a slow winter's day.  😁 Thanks.

my guess is reshade and such intercept the frame buffer, rescale and do what ever they need than send the new frame buffer to get displayed. The emulator thinks it’s full screen still and uses the better scaled resolution.

Sounds intriguing. A bit beyond my knowledge base, but something to look into on a slow winter's day.  Thanks.

Note: I never said which winter. ;)

All folders must be the same as the rom name, but inside the folder they can be named anything you like

OK.  And of course, there're only 2 files (max) in these games' subfolders. Right?

So, the folder\file structure will look like:

    \BezelLauncher\Bezels\Nintendo GameCube\
    \BezelLauncher\Bezels\Nintendo GameCube\Nintendo GameCube.ini
    \BezelLauncher\Bezels\Nintendo GameCube\Nintendo GameCube.png

    \BezelLauncher\Bezels\Nintendo GameCube\Mario Kart - Double Dash!! (USA)\
    \BezelLauncher\Bezels\Nintendo GameCube\Mario Kart - Double Dash!! (USA)\anyName.ini
    \BezelLauncher\Bezels\Nintendo GameCube\Mario Kart - Double Dash!! (USA)\anyOtherOrSameName.png

If I remember from correctly, if you used windowed mode it stretched the image, no higher resolution internally like fullscreen mode

If the transparent portion of the bezel itself is sized accordingly (4:3-ish, 16:9-ish, whatever-ish) and you set the 'frame' to be within-ish that area, would it not then 'stretch'?

My guess is that other bezel programs check the window state of the emulator and if it's fullscreen, (re)sets the Style to windowed - borderless.  I was too lazy to code that check in and figured it was easier to 'you' to set the emu's to not be fullscreen. ;)

Just wondering in future if it could be tweaked to read folder names with the bezel and ini inside ?

    Example:

Mario Kart - Double Dash!! (USA)  - example attached

    bezel.png & bezel.ini files inside

Reason I ask is RL has all bezels like this and if it could just read the folder I wouldn't need to rename 1,000's of files.

I can have my team look into this.  Seems a reasonable request.

This would require that the games folder is named exactly the as the ROM (minus extension). Which I presume that's how RL does it as well.

JoeViking245, am I right in assumming that since you are using window mode and hiddening window decorations that with the m2emulator that using window mode you run into the low resolution issue?

I wasn't aware that that running the M2 emulator (emulator_multicpu.exe is the one I tested with) in windowed mode creates a resolution issue compared to if ran in full screen.

I am fairly certain though, that when a window is set to full screen mode (AutoFull=1), it can't be resized.

But I've been wrong before. ;)

Actually I realised that I have the sega model 2 as the default emulator for model 2

Open BezelLauncherSsetup and click Refresh.  If that doesn't work, try removing Arcade from the Associated Platforms for that emulator.  Open setup and click refresh again.

If the platform still doesn't show, share a screenshot of the above emulator's Details page.

Also, do you by chance have a different emulator associated with Sega Model 2? Doesn't necessarily need to be checked as Default.

I will add that to request list.  I had actually thought about that, then forgot. And no one during beta testing mentioned it. (which is probably why I quickly forgot. ;))

I noticed that model2 and supermodel are missing from the list

I'm not sure what list you're referring to.  Both emulators had been tested and worked.  There is a note under Emulator Settings regarding SuperModel and an extra step needed for setting it up.  As you discovered above, they do need to be set as a default emulator for their respective platforms.  Then those platforms will appear in the setup menu.

a video showing the bezel in action, but it only works after the game starts

That can be due to Startup Theme startup timing and/or the Parameter settings.  Try increasing (or as weird as it may sound, decreasing) your themes startup time.  Part of what you see is that we have to wait for the emulator window to actually be open before it can be adjusted.

If that doesn't resolve it, try checking/un-checking the available Parameters.  (see Parameters)

Finally, I am having trouble accessing the emulator menu in the top left corner with the mouse. How can I solve this?

Try adjusting the placement of the emulator window within the bezel (see Testing) so that the outside edge of the orange frame is within (or very close to) the edge of the transparent area.

I hadn't personally tested it with Xemu (mainly because I don't have/use it).  Out of curiosity, do you need to access the menu in it just to play a game?  Not criticizing. It's just usually when I launch a game, it'll simply play.

Ah cool. Yeah, they making quite a few web changes though as well, so if you're scraping brace yourself ;D

The plugin is scraping, and (it seems) they make web changes about every 2-4 months.  About every 6-8+ months, a new user tries the plugin and apprises me that the plugin isn't working (again). ;)  So I fix it. Again. :D

    Yes. (with the updated version)

    November 6, 2023  (v2.3.6  released)
Due to popular demand, this plugin has been revived and updated to reflect changes in RA's website design (yet, once again).

Possibly doesn't work now, I try to use that but when I click on "Scrap Movie", after setup correctly, nothing happen.

I just tested it with the latest LaunchBox version 13.7-beta-2 and it worked here.

When you right click on a movie, is Scrape Movie (v1.2.0) greyed out (unclickable) or can you actually click on it?

If you can click on it and nothing happens, then there's something's really wrong.  No “Please Stand By” window?  No popup messages or anything?  Did you unblock the file 'MovieScraper.dll'?  You must have if you were able to run Movie Scraper Setup from the Tools menu.

Can you share the log file located in your \LaunchBox\Plugins\MovieScraper2023\Logs\ folder

Okay if that will make a difference then yes the E: drive is a USB3 external drive to use wherever I go and the L: is an internal drive - so this will make any difference? as it's not a network drive

It shouldn't make a difference.  But I don't know enough about Write permissions to give a definitive answer.  Which I believe is what the issue might actually be.  You may have write permissions, but the app/plugin may not.  Again, just a guess.

I think at this point (without digging into how permissions work or don't work), it may be easier to go with Plan "B".  (Or is it plan "C"? ;)).....

Copy the ROMs (.cue, .bin etc.) from your E: drive to the L: drive, then run the plugin and have it Delete them [from the E: drive after successful conversion] instead of Moving them.

  20. 20 hours ago, DubaiShark said:

Hi my games are located in E: drive and as I don't have space to move them in the same drive I have chosen another Local drive which is L: drive and none of the files get moved

I'm at a loss here as it worked during my tests and have not had reports of this issue from other users.

Is the L: drive a physical hard drive in your computer or an external drive connected to a USB port?  Or something else?

What is the full path to your .cue file and the full path to where you want them moved to, on the L: drive?  Make sure there are no odd characters in either path.

It's possible that your computer is not allowing this plugin to access your L: drive.  If that's the case, you could have the plugin move the files to a temp folder on your E: drive and then manually move the whole temp folder to the L: drive.   Another option is to copy your ROMs from E: drive to L, then have the plugin Delete instead of Move.  If it (the plugin) can't delete the files after converting, then your PC is not allowing that [either].

  21. 12 hours ago, DubaiShark said:

both of them move to the new folder that I chose in the local driver like the games on E: and I was going to move them to L:

I'm a little confused.  Are you saying that if you choose a Destination folder on your E: drive (for example E:\myBackupfolder\Sega Dreamcast\), the files will get moved as you'd expect.  But if you choose a Destination folder on your L: drive (for example L:\myBackupfolder\Sega Dreamcast\), none of the files get moved?

  22. 10 minutes ago, DubaiShark said:

Made one convert from .cue and it has 3 .bin files to CHD The conversion was successful but the transfer didn't work as I got an error message as the pic below It was for the Dreamcast game

Glad the conversions worked for you.

Was the destination folder on a LAN drive or local drive/folder?  Were (are) the games .cue and .bin files is the same folder?

Did only one of the two games that got converted not get moved?  Or did neither of the sets of .cue/.bin files get moved?  Can you share the .cue file for the game that couldn't get moved (or just one if the if both didn't get moved)?
