Official release is out.

Good to know. Yes, I can certainly add something for both of those things. I'll put it on my shortlist.

Slow / dropped Launchbox downloads (UK)
Jason Carr replied to zuccster's topic in Website/Forum Support
@zuccster Apologies for that. Yes, we are aware of slow downloads for some people due to location. Unfortunately we don't have any mirrors currently, though I'm considering it for the future.- 1 reply

@Goldug Absolutely! That'd be wonderful. I don't believe we've heard from @Izzy for quite some time, so I'm guessing it's not happening.

No worries my friend, just mentioning it for next time. Thank you so much, as always.

Launchbox adding "-1" to the end of rom names when importing
Jason Carr replied to gldoorii's topic in Troubleshooting
It will try to move them to whatever folder is specified for the platform's Games folder: I'm guessing in this case it's the same folder. -

Thanks Robin. Do you know if the images you submitted were for games that were connected to the LaunchBox Games Database? When you edit a game, in the top right of the interface it will tell you if the game is connected to the DB or not: If it's not connected, I'm guessing that the plugin will attempt to add a new game. -
Alright, beta 11 is out; I'm calling this a release candidate. Per the "Loading Interface" taking a while, I took a look at the code and I'm guessing it was related to Chrome. I changed the process a bit to not load Chrome at all if the Welcome dialog isn't shown. Hopefully that will remove that issue, at least when the Welcome dialog isn't displayed. Let me know.

@UnderwoodNC Can you help us figure this one out? -

There may be an issue with the plugin here then. It looks like the majority were added as new games, likely because the titles didn't match up. For example: "Chronicles Of Mystery Secret Of The Lost Kingdom" was entered in as a new game. The title for that game using the proper conventions should be "Chronicles of Mystery: Secret of the Lost Kingdom". The plugin could be adding new games when the titles can't be found maybe... -

Okay, scratch that. There were a whole ton of new games submitted to the games database from your account @Robin55 that had lots of incorrect data (it looks like around 500 new games). The issue is that many of them were missing punctuation or using incorrect casing in the titles, and our moderators were having to reject the majority of them as a result. Rather than make them have to keep rejecting them all, I went ahead and cleared them out. I'm not sure if it's an issue with the plugin, or if the games are just named incorrectly in your collection, but the game titles are very important to get correct when submitting new games, so unfortunately we have to reject new games that are submitted with titles that aren't 100% correct. -

Ah, that explains some things. What is your user name on the games database @Robin55? There were a number of things that were submitted incorrectly that had bad data that I had to remove; it makes sense that they were submitted by the plugin. It didn't have anything to do with regions, but rather the wrong data in the wrong fields. -
Thank you @Bardock and @dukeemu! I have the translations updated for the next beta which should be out shortly. @Bardock I've fixed it up, so no worries, but when you do the translations for the new "Markup" fields, if you would please copy and paste the English text and just change the text instead of re-typing it, that would be tremendously helpful. The markup went haywire because of some extra spaces (HTML is really picky sometimes). Thanks again!

Launchbox adding "-1" to the end of rom names when importing
Jason Carr replied to gldoorii's topic in Troubleshooting
Alright, I figured this out. If you select to move the ROMs when they're already in the right folder and don't need to be moved, this happens. It's not really logical to attempt to move the files when they're already in the correct folder, but I can probably add something in to prevent it even if you chose the wrong options. -

I've been working on this most of the day so far. Just fixed the moderation issues; let me know if you guys run into anything else. -
I've been working on this most of the day so far. I fixed the previous moderation issue and cleared out the batch of crap submissions that were really annoying. Let me know if anyone runs into any further issues.
-
Woot. I've heard from a few people now that it's fixed. Whew. We ran into a performance issue inside of Big Box specifically caused by a portion of the delay-loading that I had introduced to boost those startup times specifically for Big Box, so I did have to back off a bit on it. I'd rather Big Box startup times be greater than have any performance issues while running Big Box, especially with startup videos and such. So we're going to run with what we have for now.
-
Good deal. The initializing process is the portion that extracts files; it's normal for that portion of the process to be much longer on the first launch after an update. The issue was caused by a glitch in the latest version of our deployment system, believe it or not. It had nothing to do with the LaunchBox code lol.
-
Per it taking longer to start up LaunchBox the first time than subsequent times, obviously that's perfectly normal based on how Windows caches things. However, it's not normal for the "Loading Interface" portion to take 10 seconds...
-
Hmm, that's a clue I guess. However, in my testing it works fine even when maximized, so I'm puzzled here. It seems to be an odd one-off issue for only a handful of people. What we fixed is an issue with it not saving if you close the game details and restart LaunchBox.
-
The 25 seconds on first start is as expected, because it was extracting the Chrome files. This will happen on the first run only. I'm puzzled on the 10 second thing though; it may still be related to Chrome somehow. I'll do some testing and see what I can come up with.

Alright, beta 10 is out. First and foremost, some users are seeing crashes and can't start up LaunchBox or Big Box, so I'm hoping this fixes it. If you're unable to update because of the crashes, you can download the latest beta here and manually install it over top: https://www.dropbox.com/s/77j7nrilus8y3dc/LaunchBox-8.0-beta-10-Setup.exe?dl=0

Launchbox adding "-1" to the end of rom names when importing
Jason Carr replied to gldoorii's topic in Troubleshooting
Interesting. Thanks for this report @gldoorii. This should only be happening if there are files that already exist in the folder with the same name. In that situation it appends the "-1" so that it doesn't overwrite any files, I believe. Any chance that there might be hidden files in that folder, or something like that? Also, I assume this is happening when moving/copying the ROMs to the LaunchBox folder?
