  1. Sadly I can't test every beta against every crappy anti-virus program (and yes, they're pretty much all crap). I do test the official releases, however. My recommendation has always been to dump third-party anti-virus solutions and use Microsoft's built-in-to-Windows-and-just-works-without-being-annoying Windows Defender. My personal stance is that any anti-virus program that consistently gives out false positives ruins the entire purpose of the program. The boy who cried wolf ends up dead in the end.
  2. Tip 10: Profit. Put all your hard work onto a used hard drive you got off eBay last year and sell it for $500! Rinse and repeat.
  3. That looks awesome. We probably won't get it integrated before the official 8.0 release, but hopefully for the future.
  4. Good to know about the Retroarch Netplay password; I wasn't aware of that. We'll probably come back to this and add additional features later on.
  5. This already works, as the Retroarch Netplay option should show up for the game as long as there's a Retroarch emulator configured with a matching associated platform, regardless of whether or not it's the default on that game.
  6. Interesting. I don't see this same behavior when I run that exact test (the music works properly and doesn't resume playing). I'm guessing there's some key difference between our machines. If we can identify it, I might be able to figure it out. Remind me what version of Windows you're running?
  7. No, that's actually not anything that LaunchBox ever does. It never overwrites media on installs or upgrades; if it did, I'd have a million people screaming at me. The only thing I can think of happening is what I mentioned earlier, that perhaps LaunchBox has been installed into two separate installations (two different folders on your hard drive).
  8. No Download Metadata and Media process should be required for it to work @Typhon. As long as it's in the current Metadata.xml, it should be found. It uses that file directly when searching the alternate names for the retro achievements. Are you seeing that not work correctly? The only thing that should be required is that the game will need to have been already matched to a LaunchBox Games Database ID.
  9. I had overlooked it is all, so hopefully soon, yes. Hoping to add it before the 8.0 release.
  10. @FRK I went through your data but of course I don't see anything fishy. But if image files are truly just disappearing from your system, there's something seriously wrong with the system. I'm not sure where else to go here other than to suggest that maybe you should get the system checked out by a tech.
  11. Something is obviously not right, but it's impossible for me to identify what's going on without more information. These are not issues that I've ever seen experienced by other users so it makes me think that there's probably some sort of other outside influence, though I have no idea what that might be. I might be able to identify what's going on if you zip up and PM me your LaunchBox\Data folder.
  12. Interesting. Dave, if you would, use a different title for these posts. That way they're not confused with the official beta testing threads. What is the error?
  13. @alnyden Are you using the list view by chance?
  14. My suggestion would be to add a separate Retroarch emulator with the relevant associated platforms. It doesn't matter if the games are configured to use the emulator, but the added emulator will allow you to use Netplay. Of course Rocket Launcher won't be used in that situation, but I don't expect that to be a significant issue. Since Retroarch Netplay requires direct access to Retroarch's command line, I don't think it's possible to get it working with Rocket Launcher.
  15. Typically what we've seen in the past if someone reports that their data is missing or reverted, there ends up being more than one installation of LaunchBox on the machine, and sometimes the installations are nested (C:\LaunchBox\LaunchBox for example). I have no idea if that's what's going on here, but it is something to look for.
  16. LaunchBox won't ever automatically restore an old version, so there's still something odd going on. If you want to zip up and PM me your data folder @FRK, I'm happy to take a look at it. Nothing is really making sense at this point. I'm always willing to offer a refund if LaunchBox isn't working out for you.
  17. Make sure the LaunchBox Games View is focused. This is by design, assuming that is the issue.
  18. As of beta 8, I believe all issues reported in this thread have been fixed. Please let me know if not, after testing beta 8.
  19. Beta 8 is out now with the following: - Improvement: LaunchBox now supports jump to game by letter (press an alphanumeric key on the keyboard), similar to Windows Explorer - Fixed the multiple Retroarch emulators issue for Retroarch Netplay. If Retroarch is the main emulator on the game (if the title of the emulator starts with "Retroarch"), then that emulator will be used. Otherwise, LaunchBox will search for an emulator with the title of "Retroarch" that has an associated platform that matches the platform of the game. - Hopefully fixed @wallmachine's issue backing out of the System menu when changing themes. Found a rare anomaly that I'm hoping was the cause of the problem.
  20. I hate to say it, but I didn't touch anything to fix the game details side bar position saving...yet. The issue is that the position isn't saved if you close the sidebar, exit, and then open it up again on another launch. As far as I know it does save correctly otherwise. I still have this on my plate. ETA Prime will be doing a tutorial video here soon.
  21. It depends on how much information is required for loading the particular page; loading up a new game with lots of images and metadata, etc. takes a lot longer than just loading up some metadata changes. I agree it can be improved though. I don't believe it's slowed down any since I last looked at it, though it would certainly be nice to make it faster yet. I'll keep at it soon.
  22. Alright, so I have this integrated in the latest beta: @Izegod I forgot to put your name in the change log for this beta, but I have it in there for the next one. Thanks again for the plugin and the code. I'm having a bit of trouble testing it, so if anyone can jump on testing it and let me know how it goes, I'd appreciate it.
  23. @neil9000 That error appears to be an issue with the Ao.BigBox plugin.
  24. Alright, beta 7 is now out as well with the beginnings of the new Retroarch Netplay integration (largely thanks to @Izegod who provided a plugin that did it a while ago). If you right-click on a game that supports Retroarch in LaunchBox, you should have a new Retroarch Netplay option. I will be integrating it with Big Box as well, though I haven't started on that yet. I need everyone's help in testing it though, as Retroarch netplay is notoriously difficult and finicky. I'm currently copying stuff over to another machine of mine to give it a proper test. However, I could not get it working over localhost (I end up with a "netplay could not be initialized" message in Retroarch). @Typhon I was actually referring to something else above, but I did get that fixed in this beta, so we should be good to go. It worked for Alien3, at least.
