Awesome, I'm glad you got that figured out. Not to cop out of the issue, but generally, any app that interferes with other apps like that is just downright badly written software, and the issue should be reported to Corsair. Probably that it "interferes with the .NET Framework and software that uses it." It would unfortunately be difficult for me to troubleshoot; yes, I would have to buy the hardware and set up a test bench for it all. What Corsair hardware do you use that requires that software?

That's odd; sorry to ask something so simple but have you tried rebooting @Styphelus? I don't believe we've changed much in the way of startup processes.
-
I think I figured out the issue in the code there. It was only happening for games that were not previously connected with a LaunchBox Games Database ID. When a new connection is found, it was overwriting the title. I've fixed this so it doesn't happen in the next beta.

Is LB caching info or it is something else?
Jason Carr replied to MartinC's topic in Troubleshooting
@MartinC The metadata is actually not cached at all; only the images are cached. It pulls the data directly from the XML files every time it loads. However, depending on what you're changing in the XML files, it may be in more than one spot or more than one file. For instance, the platform names are in both Platforms.xml and the game XML files (as well as the file names). The only other thing to worry about is to make 100% sure that LaunchBox is closed and not running (no LaunchBox.exe or BigBox.exe processes running) before making any changes to the XML files. -
Thanks all, wanted to update everyone; I'm back into the development mix here now that the holidays and Black Friday are over. I'm looking into all these issues and I should likely have a beta out either later today or tomorrow.

Apologies @NiGHTS but we advertise only one day a year, so we have to stick to that.
-
Good to know, @Itay080. Thanks for updating us. Glad it's all sorted. I wish I knew exactly what was causing this crap for the few users that are experiencing it, but it's good to know that a clean install at least does fix the issue. I'm guessing that there's some kind of bugged install for the .NET Framework 4.7 or something of that sort that only happens in rare situations.

Sorry to share bad news @BTr, but unfortunately we're sticklers about only doing the sale one day a year.
-
@NiGHTS So sorry but unfortunately the sale is over for good, until next year. PayPal refuses to work with us (and is also a fairly criminal company, for what it's worth), so unfortunately PayPal is not an option.

Yes, this is a confirmed issue with the latest releases that I have on my list to fix.
-
Gotcha. So I'm guessing it's a data issue then. Can you zip up and PM me your LaunchBox\Data folder? I'll take a look and see what the problem is. Make sure you PM it and don't post it here for privacy reasons.

The latest major change we did was upgrade to the latest version of the .NET framework. We've noticed lately that things like this have been mostly caused by glitches with the latest version of the .NET framework and driver compatibility issues. So the first thing I would do is run Windows Update to make sure that all drivers and updates are installed. Then I would reinstall the .NET framework 4.7, but I think it's basically included with Windows 10 in the latest updates. So let's first see if you're all the way up to date with Windows Updates.

@LuismaSP89 Yes, if you wait for next year's Black Friday, you should be able to upgrade to a forever license at a discount. There's no guarantee that we'll do the same deal next year, but most likely we will.

Launchbox not opening RA Mednafen pce core
Jason Carr replied to shadowfire36's topic in Troubleshooting
Hi @shadowfire36, sorry for the possibly stupid question, but did you copy the cores over or re-download the cores when you upgraded? -
@Zombeaver and @Styphelus Come on guys, chill out a little bit. He was cracking a joke lol.
-
Haha, that's amazing. Yeah, definitely need all of these. There are a lot of places in LaunchBox that I still need to add community rating. Hopefully I can get these in before the official release. Unfortunately I probably won't add a separate process because it's a lot of work for very little return. If there's an issue with data being overwritten by the wizard, I need to know the specific details so I can get it fixed, rather than ignoring it and adding a separate process.

He's working on it, yup.

BigBox Freezes after Exiting Emulator (not every time)
Jason Carr replied to mgunther32's topic in Troubleshooting
I'd love to get this fixed but as @Charco stated I've never been able to replicate it and it doesn't seem to be a common issue. I remember in the past, the closest we got to fixing it was discovering issues with Microsoft's 360/Xbox One controller drivers; they really screwed them up for a while. I'm not certain if this is it, but do try and see if you can update your 360/Xbox One controller drivers. -
What happens if you install LaunchBox to a new/different folder? Do you get the same issues?

Black screen with latest launchbox version.
Jason Carr replied to Bizznatch's topic in Troubleshooting
It also could be a driver issue between the .NET Framework 4.7 and your particular drivers, so also it would be a good idea to make sure your video drivers are up to date, and anything else you can think of as well. -
Black screen with latest launchbox version.
Jason Carr replied to Bizznatch's topic in Troubleshooting
@Bizznatch The primary change that could affect this in the latest versions is that we upgraded to the latest version of the .NET Framework (4.7). So I would guess that somehow there's something wrong there; if you do want to try and troubleshoot it, I would try reinstalling the .NET Framework 4.7. -
Beta 5 is out now guys: - New Feature: Community star ratings are now available in LaunchBox and will show as a slightly different color. You can download the community's star ratings for your games by using Tools > Download Metadata and Media. - New Feature: Star ratings set in LaunchBox will now automatically upload to the LaunchBox Games Database in order to contribute to the community's ratings. You can disable this under Tools > Options > Search. - Improvement: Syncing your collection to the cloud now reports progress and is much quicker; viewing your collection on the web is much quicker as well. - Improvement: Star ratings can now be set at half values Community star ratings is the last major thing I'm adding to 7.15 before the official release; however, I do still need to add the community star rating features to Big Box as well, so that is next.

He meant Retro Achievements.

Yeah, I know that's still a weird Windows issue every once in a while. Most people have turned on background updates so I haven't done anything about it yet. Thanks, I did get in touch with Scott on Discord; he's the developer of the API. He's working on solving the issues with the few platforms that have problems.
