  1. Hahahaha, great names guys. Seriously great names. Now this is harder than ever. :P My favorites thus far: LaunchBox Couch LaunchBox Nucleus LaunchBox XL LaunchBox BigBox (really like the play on words with MS-DOS "big boxes") I'm having a hard time getting over LaunchBox BigBox actually. We could call it "Big Box mode" or just "Big Box" even. Thoughts? More names? :D :D :D
  2. Lol. I want other people's ideas too though.
  3. Might be worth a shot, but unfortunately it's not likely to solve the problem, because the game is looking for the CD.
  4. Maddoc1007 said Another way to do it would be develop both side by side, keep adding features to present Launchbox and call the alpha Launchbox pro, then time will tell which one is favoured most and give you a lot more breathing room in the development of them. That is somewhat the plan, though the home theater view will be part of the premium version. I'm also trying to come up with what to name it other than "home theater view" or "home theater mode". Though I don't really want to call it pro, because that's not really what it is, being so far behind the development of the desktop version.
  5. @CliveBarker, the nested screen icon thing you describe is certainly possible. For the alpha I'm modeling something closer to Emulation Station, but it certainly doesn't have to end up like that. There's a lot I don't like about Steam Big Picture mode, but I do like the grid of games in your screenshot, and the fluid interface is nice, for sure.
  6. Maddoc1007 said Will this addition be part of Launchbox or a seperate launcher, if part of Launchbox have to say it does look fantastic and will it also have the feature for films music or just games? Hi Maddoc, it will be a separate EXE, but you'll be able to switch back and forth between the LaunchBox desktop and the home theater view. At least for the first however many versions, the home theater view will be read only (you'll have to edit games in desktop mode, sans for simple things like favorites, maybe). Unfortunately films, music, and other types of media will have to wait for a long while yet.
  7. Thanks, @DOS76. Do speak up if you have any ideas/recommendations.
  8. I think I just fixed the file attachment download issue, at least.
  9. Yup, we got them. Apparently there's an issue there though, stupid thing lets people upload but not download...the heck? Anyways, I don't see any inherent issues with the configuration. So, apparently it's a game-specific issue. You can enable DOSBox debugging so you can see all the commands and such in DOSBox, that might help. That way you can check to make sure that the CD is actually mounted. You could also try using a different drive letter for the mount. But if the CD is mounted and the game refuses to identify it, then it could be that the game has some form of copy protection, it's looking in the wrong drive, etc. Unfortunately though, since I don't have that game, I can't really do any troubleshooting myself, so I'm not sure how else to help you out.
  10. Yes, I'm self aware of my superior ability to...eat. I'm really hungry right now.
  11. Lolololol, wow. That's crazy. A 10 year old with a drone!? I thought I was doing well for myself... ;)
  12. Hehehehe, do me a favor guys, and check this out/comment: https://www.launchbox-app.com/forum/features/surprise-new-home-theater-alpha-coming-out-soon
  13. Currently, where I'm at, I need to figure out an interface that lets users launch or configure the app, as well as all the additional applications, and view all of the images. I'm torn between making use of the space below the image and the details for menu items, or using a popup of sorts. But the goal for the alpha is this: a list of platforms on the main screen, that takes you to a list of your games on the next, with the ability to launch them, configure them, run additional applications, or view the images. Thoughts?
  14. So I've been working frantically on a home theater solution, since that's clearly the most wanted feature from the community voting. I am starting out extremely simple, and an alpha is coming soon. Still, I'm looking for some guidance/direction from the community. Keep in mind this is extremely early in the development, the final product may look completely different. That said, I expect the initial alpha to be fairly similar. I'm looking for everyone's thoughts and suggestions on these screenshots.
  15. Good question, bd. It seems an upgrade to the forums software introduced them... maybe...
  16. Awesome, good to hear guys. I'm gonna rush out an official update to fix that bug either tonight or tomorrow. The "Windows" import is a bit of a misnomer, as the intent is just to import all games that are *installed* into Windows, no matter the platform. So that includes all GOG games. Just not sure what else to call it.
  17. Hippyshake said I feel like I've wasted so much money on games I'll never finish. Yeah. This.
  18. Ha, no kidding. How old are you, Stimpy? 110? :P
  19. How about a monthly subscription model?
  20. Hippyshake said I'm in a retro mood lately, thanks to FFVII. I bought it through the EA website in July 2013 but horrible support and an inability to log in (because you can only play if you're connected to the Internet, despite it originally being a PSX game) left me unable to play it until last month, when I was FINALLY able to get it sorted. That is infuriating. Been there recently with GTA V...they were apparently in the middle of upgrading/changing their website, and didn't think about the fact some people might not be able to log in to the game. I got an idea! Let's be like all the game developers and make LaunchBox require an active Internet connection!
  21. bd000 said Ha, I find one exhausting never mind two or even three. I am one of four and I have no idea how my Mum coped with us. There is only 5 years between us all as well. Imagine 4 kids 5yo and under! Must have been utter chaos!! Oh man, I wouldn't survive. I'm already at risk lol.
  22. Hippyshake said Also, there seems to be a game missing on shelf 2. Hmmm. Sorry, I "borrowed" it. ;) Wow, nice collection, btw.
  23. bd000 said I envy you guys, I just can't do it. Granted, I might not collect everything and I might rush it, but I have to play the story through to the finish. If I try put it back on the shelf, it doesn't stay there long because I just get the urge to "put it to bed" like I need closure or something. It is weird and probably means I am a tad mad, but I like to believe that a dash of madness is not such a bad thing. That's what I tell myself anyway. Maybe I'm stark raving looney and just don't know it! Funny, I envy you lol. Would be nice if I completed more games, that's for sure.
  24. I see, yeah, the best thing to do for LaunchBox would be to crop the image to only the top half. LaunchBox currently centers the image, and chops off what doesn't fit aspect-ratio-wise. Otherwise, we'd have black bars on the sides. I do see some possible customization options for that though...good find. :)
  25. Indeed, agreed. If we stopped improving technology because it *could* be used with bad intentions, we wouldn't be able to make any progress at all.
