  1. Forgot to post last night, but the new Steam Banner import features are live in the latest beta. They could use some testing. :)
  2. So, last night I put out a new beta that allows you to download Steam banners upon importing from Steam. And should also work in the Download Metadata and Images wizard. I could really use some help testing that, if anyone is interested. :)
  3. Lol, so disappointed. I *really* want to believe that monkeys can play videogames.
  4. Hahahaha...that is AWESOME. And hilarious. Thanks for that, Hippyshake. I gotta work that into a blog post somehow. I should be able to link you in the next release blog post. :D
  5. I got a big slap in the face the first time I wanted to share my games with my son. I have a huge Steam collection, and he has a computer in his room. Suddenly I realized we both couldn't be gaming at the same time, even for different games, because all my games were in the same account. Suck. Tremendous amounts of suck. If I had bought physical copies of those games, we'd be able to play them at the same time. But no, not with Steam. This turned my enthusiastic view of Steam into one of much more disdain. GOG, of course, gives me no problem whatsoever, so ever since I discovered it I've been really pleased with it. I only wish they had a larger selection of games, and more of the newer games. But obviously that's not their fault. I got an alpha invitation for Galaxy too, and was pleasantly surprised by it. It's really nice and convenient, so much better than the previous ad-hoc approach. So yeah, I'm only wishing I could abandon Steam for new games altogether. But the fact of the matter is, most games only come out on Steam. But I see GOG Galaxy as being the missing piece that might be able to take GOG more mainstream. Let's hope.
  6. True, any additions you make to the TGDB will end up in both the LocalDB and the future planned system.
  7. Holy crap, that's insane. Wish I could understand what they're saying...
  8. Hi hippy, the LocalDB is updated periodically from TheGamesDB.net for new releases. There's no real way for you to update it yourself.
  9. Wow, it actually looks pretty effective. I was doubtful, but it identified a game I want to play that I didn't even know existed. So, that's a win.
  10. Hippyshake said Although I blame that on my addictive personality and lack of self control, rather than gaming and alcohol. Oh man, I feel you there. Lack of self control, check. Addictive personality, check. I tend to latch onto things and never let them go. LaunchBox is one of those things, so it's not all bad, I guess.
  11. Ha, is that even *in* installation notes anywhere? Do we even *have* installation notes? ;)
  12. Glad to hear you got this resolved, finagle, and thanks for the purchase. :) LaunchBox does have a platform lookup list that attempts to identify the platform from many different options. It looks like maybe "Playstation 1" is missing; I'll add that to the list. But that's why it works for most, but didn't work there. Thanks for that.
  13. Ah, I see! Very cool. Sounds good, hopefully I can get to that soon.
  14. Nice, thanks hippy. Will review to see if there's anything I can do on those. Per the game details, I see what you're saying. But generally, I would think that it would make sense that you're only favoriting or editing one item, because only one item's game details are displayed.
  15. Ha...guess what? I just implemented a new Steam banner scraper yesterday. I should have another beta out including it in the next couple of days.
  16. Yeah, a nice side effect of Steam's protocol solution. :)
  17. That is true, though for LaunchBox purposes, it doesn't really matter where Steam games are located, mostly because Steam games are launched via Steam's protocol like this: steam://rungameid/271590 That conveniently makes all Steam games just work, no matter the machine, and no matter where they are installed.
  18. Hey guys, yeah, TGDB being down really sucks, it's pretty discouraging. I wouldn't call them a "necessary evil" though lol, I really appreciate them for everything they've done. LaunchBox could not be what it is today without them. That said, I am looking to ultimately replace it with our own system, if anyone isn't already aware. Thankfully, TGDB's license allows us to re-use the data. So I am planning to build a new system that won't suffer from this down time, and also allows users to contribute (upload) from within LaunchBox itself. This is currently what I am most excited about regarding the future of LaunchBox. In the mean time, though, I really hope TGDB comes back up soon.
  19. Depending on how the application was written, you may or may not be able to change the icon in the task bar by editing the EXE in Resource Hacker. There are numerous ways to program that functionality, and not all of them would allow you to change them, unfortunately.
  20. Hi Kriven. Yeah, Duck's right when it comes to Windows games, though there are portable games that would allow for it. Actually a lot of games do allow for it, assuming DirectX and the C++ runtimes are installed, etc. That said, in general it's often not a good idea to move Windows applications around, yeah. The MS-DOS importer does allow you to relocate games upon import, I believe, as well. I would be wary of adding this functionality for Windows games, though.
  21. Wow, that's pretty simple. Okay. Hopefully I can add that soon. What functionality do your plugins add?
  22. The full paths would be awesome, John. No worries. I'm hoping to put the official release early next week.
