  1. Yea, like I said, writing data directly to the LaunchBox.xml is a thing, has always been (assuming you follow the proper format), but changing the Metadata.xml is a lot more tricky and will get replaced with the set from the Database from time to time.
  2. For a bit of clarification, I'm not saying you can't insert your own metadata in to your LaunchBox.xml (You very much can), but you can't really share that as it's all personalized settings and the Metadata.xml is not necessarily designed to be altered.
  3. It should work until LaunchBox is updated or the package is updated, then if you use the download and replace metadata option it will replace it within LaunchBox. It may not even work the first time, because the second you go to Tools -> Download Images and Metadata you'll need to select to replace all the fields, and it may see that the Metadata.xml is different and assume it needs to be updated and ask you to update the file.
  4. That won't really work. The LaunchBox.xml holds ALL the settings and information for any given LaunchBox install, so it wont work if you give your LaunchBox.xml to anyone else. For others to use that information you need to upload it to the LaunchBox Games Database.
  5. Ah, thank you for letting me know about that. So then yea, make your Daphne system Scrape as Arcade.
  6. Thank you @Zombeaver. I'm a DOS nut too and this is awesome.
  7. No it doesn't. The Metadata.xml in the Metadata folder has all of the metadata for the entire Database. It used to be that it was updated when LaunchBox was, but now with the database it will ask you to update your Metadata.xml if it's outdated. Other than that, media is only downloaded when queried.
  8. Ah, I apologize then. Yea, I asked Jason to put a link there when I created it, but it must have slipped by. It is pinned in the LaunchBox Games Database section on the forums, but yea it does need to be more obvious.
  9. You can also try refreshing your LanchBox image cache by going to Tools -> Refresh All Images.
  10. Yea pretty much. Some of the less popular systems do exist, but with no games, or very few games.
  11. This thread and the thread you just recently made are the exact same though. I never said you were spamming, but why wont this thread just work fine? Especially after @AutumnSounds helped you out.
  12. Yea the intro depends on the version of the BIOS or if someone patched them potentially. Ah, well then I would just follow the tutorial. Just shy of actually modding a Dreamcast, Dreamcast gaming is really poor on emulation. We're also hoping that Reicast in RA becomes sophisticated enough because this is a system that can seriously benefit from being inside of RetroArch.
  13. This is in the guidelines. We want to set up alternate naming in the Database, but right now that doesn't exist, yet. That is the same game, so there's really no reason why it should get two entries, but rather one entry with two names, or three, or four, what ever the case may be. I also came across someone changing the names of games to probably their European counterparts, even though the box clearly said the name and it matched.
  14. I would suggest that you watch our tutorials on our YouTube channel. You can get there by clicking the link in my signature or the tutorials button at the top of the forums. I have covered each of these systems and it may answer a lot of questions that you are having. As for that RA crash, try updating your version of RetroArch to the latest, I honestly don't know why you're getting that crash but it's not good. If anyone else here doesn't know why I would ask at the RA forums, they should certainly know.
  15. We didn't have the default command line parameter for Dreamcast automatically because the Dreamcast core is not really suggested. If you use the Tools -> Manage Emulator you also won't need to use the edit game window to do this stuff (which may be faster, but it doesn't matter as long as the command and settings go in to the same place). So that said, you're using that "-run=dc -image=" command line parameter for the entire RetroArch emulator, which won't work for any other core, and actually I believe doesn't actually work for the Dreamcast Core. I believe that is a command for a completely different emulator. So I would start by removing that. You said the BIOS are in the proper location, but are they named properly? If RA is trying to start but then closing right away it could be the command you are trying to pass, the wrong BIOS name or even a corrupt BIOS or game.
  16. You can edit your ScummVM exe in Windows to add the command line parameter. Unfortunately, we currently don't have an easy way to do this like we do with emulators or DOSBox. The ScummVM portion of LaunchBox does need a serious overhaul and it's something we're working on doing.
  17. Oh, sorry @AVissie, missed your post! Yes, we would love every language to be covered in the end! Head on over to the first post in this thread if you're interested in getting started and Jason can get you set up.
  18. If you let the core handle saves, you should already be able to utilize your saves and save states. If RetroArch handles this that's a different story.
  19. She doesn't bite, hard. ;) She is a welcome addition. Jason and I can't be everywhere so this will certainly help out a lot.
  20. Of course, no problem. If you have any more questions feel free to ask!
  21. As per the ticket too, chances are there won't be ways to add info to the Database from CSV files, but rather add info in to LaunchBox from CSV files. As long as the CSV file has the same formatting from everyone who uses it we can easily transfer the formats then have it readable by the XML. If the CSV files can vary in formatting then there might be a slim chance for it to be implemented because then there is no way for us to be able to import accurately.
  22. djweevil, if you could keep the requests to one thread I would appreciate it. Spamming new threads isn't going to help.
  23. Look at your LaunchBox.xml, that is where all the information is stored that you downloaded to your library.
  24. There are save state convertors for Zsnes and Snes9x, but both emulators have long been outclassed and it's a lot harder than even I had assumed at first. Some exist, but if something existed for every console that would be awesome. Especially considering there are a lot of NES, SNES, GB, GBC, and GBA emulators / cores out there.
  25. You can also create and load save states from your controller in RetroArch too if anyone is curious (along with most of it's other features).
