Their is a backup folder that you can use in case of an emergency but your best bet is to copy your LaunchBox.xml file and either move it to another folder or copy it there and rename it LaunchBox1.xml then if an issue develops just delete the one you have and rename the copy back to LaunchBox.xml

You can go to tools and there is an option to download metadata and images run the wizard and choose to download but don't change any existing fields. You can also use the MAME data but it has to be named very close to the LaunchBox title.

@echo off SET STRING=%1 SET STRING=%STRING:.zip=% SET STRING=%STRING:E:\Emulators\Sega\Naomi\ROMs\=% echo %STRING% start demul.exe -run=awave -rom=%STRING% This is what works to run AtomiWave in Demul.

Yeah I'm not well versed with .bat unless I'm running one someone else wrote sorry that didn't work someone else may be able to help you out with that. It may be because instead of using %1% you used %ROM% but your bat doesn't have a variable set up for ROM the %n (n = number is considered a magic variable that doesn't need to be specified but %ROM% isn't. I'll have to check my Demul .bat and see if It is set up like that I believe that the variable is declared in that.

First import your ROMs either using the importer or select all your roms using ctrl+a and drag and drop them in LaunchBox. 1st form of the import wizard choose Use as ROMs 2nd Form put in your Platform name if you have added MAME as an emulator already and you let it auto populate the associated platform then it will be named Arcade so type in Arcade if you haven't added MAME as an emulator yet type Arcade anyway. If you have added it and didn't let it auto populate and you gave the Associated Platform its own name then type in that name. 3rd form Choose your emulator if you already set MAME up and you used the same platform name that it is associated with it will already be populated with MAME if you haven't added it yet go to add and set up MAME if you name the emulator MAME it will auto populate the associated platform so just add you path. Click OK when finished and then next when you return to the 3rd form 4th form choose what to do with your files I personally recommend using them where they are already located. 5th form Unless you want to add Wikapedia to the database search leave everything as is and click next. 6th don't change anything hit next 7th is the EmuMovie page if you don't have an account just hit next 8th form Read the options and choose any that might apply to you 9th form If you did everything this will be the MAME form with all of the MAME options. Choose the ones you want. If you didn't match the platform name with the associated platform in MAME this form won't come up.

set the bat to start the emulator to and make it your emulator under manage emulator. There is an example of a Sega Saturn .bat somewhere on the forum that mounts your disks using what ever disc you click on then it runs the emulator and finally it unmounts your disk when you close the emulator so as long as you use the right variable to identify the ROMs you should be able to have it work with all games. @echo off start "" "C:\Program Files (x86)\DAEMON Tools Lite\DTLite.exe" -mount 0, %1% start /wait "" "SSF.exe" "C:\Program Files (x86)\DAEMON Tools Lite\DTLite.exe" -unmount 0 This is the bat they use for SSF I believe the %1% is the variable that runs the second argument (read this on StackOverFlow but don't really know what it means it has to do with paths

Under tools\manage emulators double click RetroArch and go to the associated platform tab associate a Platform with the core that you want if the MAME core is already default for Arcade and you want to use another one of these for Arcade uncheck the MAME checkbox and move it to the core you want to use. If you are naming the platforms CPS1 NeoGeo and so on then just associate that with the core that you want to use and check that. Only important things is that the associated platform in the manage emulators matches exactly what you name the platform when you import the games.

Tested that real quick and it is not a premium feature so you should be able to change it.

Right now the GamesDB which is what LaunchBox usually uses is down so when you import your games you won't get any data right now. You can still import and add metadata later but you may just be better off waiting until they are back up before adding anymore games. If you go to Tools and then options you will see options to set background settings (I'm not sure but this may be a premium feature it may not). You may find what you are looking for there.

Yeah EmuMovies is down too. For some reason (this is only based on observation no real facts) it seems that even when using GDB and EmuMovies if GDB doesn't have an entry for a game your game won't be linked to a database EM may get some images and videos but the game only will get DB info if GDB has it. I'm assuming that maybe EM doesn't have a database per say or for some reason we don't have access to that portion when we download and we mostly still rely on the GDB. -

GamesDB has been down since yesterday and who know how long it will stay down this happens from time to time with them. -
This has been suggested by many people over time and it is a possibility for the distant future (other media platforms not the Amigademos) Most people use Kodi or Plex for their media one of our users has gone as far as creating a BigBox Launcher for Kodi here is a link for that thread. If you go through you will find download links and a few different videos that will help you figure it all out. I personally just setup my Plex Home Theater application to launch in LaunchBox I created a platform called applications and added Plex, SlingPlayer desktop app and a few other programs allowing me to be able to access music, movies, recorded TV shows and live TV all through LaunchBox.

The GD GDB is down once again LB would be better off using the EBDB that way would could maybe get a discount at the EBDB B&B. (If you have never watched FX's series the league you will have no idea what this post means so don't be confused I'm just being silly)
-
Glad you got it working. As a rule the first thing to always check is if it is working in the emulator without LB that helps to narrow down whether or not it is LB's problem or not.
-
Yeah now that you mention it I don't think the emulator name matters you just have to name the platform arcade because I use MAMEUI myself.
-
did you move your files into LaunchBox or did you leave them where you originally had them? Also if MAMEUI is working use that as the emulator instead of just MAME. Go into tools, Manage emulators then choose MAME and click on edit change the path to MAMEUI and then go to the associated platform tab and type in -skip_gameinfo -now
-
Yeah to properly delete all games from a platform you have to go into that platform and use control+a to select all the games and then right click and choose delete. You aren't the first person who has had trouble with that. One of my first post on this forum was asking how to delete a platform I even missed the manage platform option which turned out to be a good thing until someone explained how to do it.
-
So if you run MAME outside of LaunchBox it works fine.
-
Did you delete all the games using control + A or did you just remove the platform? If you just removed the platform then the games are all still there and that is why you can't add them again go to the all platform and you will still see your C64 games there. Also if you made the new platform today there is a good chance that one of the files in your backup folder will be from before you added the new platform to use the backup files you have to either move rename or delete your existing XML copy one of the backups into the LB folder and rename it LaunchBox.XML. You shouldn't ever have to just completely start over that would be insane and take so much work.
-
LaunchBox can handle this as long as you name the platform Arcade and use MAME as the emulator then it will offer you extra options in the import wizard to remove clones and non-working games along with hacks and bootlegs also. It will also allow you to specify a region that you would prefer.

The Legend of Zelda at 30: Happy Birthday to a dear childhood friend...
DOS76 replied to CadetStimpy's topic in Games
Happy birthday indeed. This game is the epitome of gaming nostalgia for me. I still play through at least once a year. -
Hardware 'Wish List' Topic (starting off with a 32:9 Aspect Ratio monitor!)

Wow so you were playing with these things before they even came home huh that was pretty interesting. From punch cards to 360TB drives that will last for billions of years in under 100 years is pretty amazing progress if you ask me. Its crazy how an animal as foolish and as flawed as man is stupid and off the charts brilliant all at the same time. Also this drive could be like a Jedi Holicron (from the expanded universe novels and comics) In the real world they would be insane for keeping long term familial archives for generations. Also if this ever came to market they would definitely be able to improve on the 360TB size restriction over time. -
My nephew has been playing the beta on XBox One and saying he likes it.
