Welcome and thank you for your wonderful emulator! Yeah that's totally understandable. I just wanted to stress for people that they really need to be using the real thing to avoid issues with some games. Strange. The TOSEC set that I tried it with at the time definitely didn't have it. Perhaps it was an older release, I'm not sure. Yes, that statement was made in regards to WHDLoad - that's why I said that's what I was focusing on in the video. I wasn't trying to imply that it's best for everything, just for WHDLoad (which is what the video focuses on). A500 works fine for ADF. Perhaps I didn't make that clear enough in the video. Interesting. I don't recall seeing this mentioned in your posts on your site when people asked about WHDLoad + savestates. I'll try that. Fair enough, but I'm not sure how much the distinction matters to the typical end-user. I've read multiple comments from people saying that the files they had were "home made" and they weren't found on a scan. Ones that come from well-known/common sources typically do. I'm not entirely sure I follow, all I can tell you is that my experience with simply throwing a WHDLoad zip directly at FS-UAE did not use any arguments on launch (and flickering during loading, etc. ensued). That would definitely be handy! It was just an example. I'm sure you're perfectly aware there will be other such cases and people need to know what to do in such a scenario. Not for me it wasn't. No such file was created nor was anything overwritten - I had to find out how to use WHDLoad.prefs by digging through the EAB and creating one myself. EDIT: Re-reading this, perhaps I misunderstood what you meant. Do you just mean this is something that takes place internally, and that placing a WHDLoad.prefs file in the FS-UAE directory simply overwrites it? That makes sense, if so. And, if so, adding in a QuitKey override option in the settings would definitely be very useful! That's fair. F10 was simply the one out of the half-dozen or so different keys that seemed to come up most frequently and didn't interfere with the games that I used it with anyway. I'm sure there are exceptions. In the end though, there really needs to be one button to trigger the QuitKey. Having to pay attention to that for every game is kindof a nightmare. My apologies I'm going to continue to do so without some kind of phonetics though haha. Hmm... I'm almost positive I tried that and it didn't work for me. I just created one based on a version I found of the shader on Github. Good deal. We certainly can understand that around here as we have our own Games DB which is constantly being worked on - but it's a noble cause Interesting. I wasn't aware of this. Good to know. I wasn't sure what the underlying issue was... just that it was an issue haha Ah okay, gotcha. Thanks again for your time and for your contributions to Amiga emulation!

Don't let the fact that Road Avenger is an FMV game fool you - it's freaking awesome. The novelty of FMV made these kinds of games a dime a dozen during the Sega CD era, but while many are just cheap cash-ins, Road Avenger is a complete blast - literally and figuratively. It also has a totally badass cover. Sega CD - Normal: Mega CD - Normal: Sega CD - Scanlines: Mega CD - Scanlines:

Interesting. Guess it's actually a bug. Hopefully what he suggested will work instead.

I'm slightly more partial to Contra 3 myself, but that's probably more due to nostalgia than anything else. Hard Corps is a great game and in some ways it is better than 3; but nobody I knew had Hard Corps when I was a kid, whereas I owned and played the ever-living-hell out of Contra 3 as a kid. I still play through that one a couple times a year.

Hmm... And I assume you've verified the specific button names by double-clicking on the controller in the list? I also assume that the game in question is using the 68010 or higher CPU? As I mentioned at 34:38 in the video, the QuitKey override doesn't work if the game's using the 68000 CPU. Most WHDLoad configs are already set to use the A1200 which uses the 68EC020 CPU - the override works with anything other than 68000. I don't think this issue affects the warp function, but I'm not 100% certain on that.

I finished fixing all the logos around 2:00 AM last night and updated the download, so that's taken care of. It occurred to me last night that for the platforms that have text variations for NA and PAL regions (like Genesis/Mega Drive and TG16/PCE) I should make entirely new logos for them - that way people who actually have both in their library can choose one version for one region and another version for the other region. So with that in mind, here's another logo for Genesis and Mega Drive. Genesis - Normal: Mega Drive - Normal: Genesis - Scanlines: Mega Drive - Scanlines:

Thank you good sir! I'm glad you found it useful. Amiga's a really great platform but for a long time it's had the unfortunate distinction of being one of the more difficult ones to get into emulating. I'm hoping the tutorial will help ease people into it with as little wailing and gnashing of teeth as possible; and potentially expose some people to games that they might have passed up otherwise. I've got a couple Big Box media projects that I'm working on currently but I've got a few more tutorials planned after that.

Did you read this thread? What is your end-goal? If you're using Mednafen PSX, bin+cue is what you should already be using. If you're really set on converting down to one file, you can use PSX2PSP to convert them to PBP files.

That's actually not my doing... that's the forums randomly deciding to change the resolution sometimes. I try to check them and correct if necessary (removing the image and re-uploading) after posting, but sometimes I forget. If you download them from the downloads section they're all 1300 x 550.

I've never seen it when they're actually in-use in BB, but I can see it when looking at some of them full-size - any of the ones that are have bright colors at the edge of the image. Once these are actually resampled to a smaller size in BB, I'm sure it disappears. Again, just OCD tendencies... I can't unsee/unknow it's there now so I gotta

I just noticed an issue with a few of the clear logos. Chances are no one would even notice it, especially once they're resized in BB, but my OCD tendencies require that I go through and fix them... My layer mask needs to be trimmed by 1 pixel - on darker images you can't see it but on brighter ones you can when it's on top of a black background. The background is just barely popping out from underneath the outer "ring". It's not a huge deal to fix, it's just a matter of resaving every version of all of them with the adjusted mask...

I'm a lot more inclined to do the 5200/7200 (and maybe MSX) than the handhelds. The handhelds aren't out of the question, I guess I just don't really see the appeal. Why play a crappy handheld version of King of Fighters when you can just as easily play the arcade version? I understand the appeal of the actual handheld itself, but if you're just emulating on a PC either way I don't get it. I mean, to each their own, but my completely arbitrary and anecdotal guess would be that most people that have these in their library have them just for the sake of having them, not because it's something they play very frequently in earnest. GBC is probably slightly higher priority than the other two. I would assume GB, GBA, DS, GG, and PSP would accommodate the vast majority of demand for handheld platforms.

Amiga via FS-UAE and C64 via CCS64 (Hoxs64 and WinVice also work) work just fine with a controller. The video tutorial I made for Amiga can be found here. I typically use my wireless 360 controller with FS-UAE, though anything that uses Xinput should auto-configure as well. No configuration of the controls are necessary beyond things like custom command shortcuts. For CCS64, Xinput controllers also work by default with no configuration. My 360 controller or my Mayflash F300 work with no additional setup required. I also have a USB adapter that allows me to connect one (or two) of my Tac-2 joysticks and use it with CCS64, though you do have to manually calibrate those in the emulator; that just takes a few seconds though. I can't comment on MSX as that's not a system I emulate. I believe there's a Retroarch core for it though and controller configuration is very easy in RA. I believe MESS is also an option for MSX.

You can request them whenever, I just can't guarantee that I'll be able to get to them immediately. Thursdays nights are tied up for me - DnD night! Here's one for Game Gear. It's shiny. Normal: Scanlines:

Yeah typically I like to stick to platform-specific versions of artwork whenever possible. Occasionally I'll make an exception like I did with the Master System simply because the SMS art is so awful, but that's pretty rare. That first flyer should work.

These are now available in the downloads section as well. I'll see what I can come up with for AVP.

Version 1.7.1
2,957 downloads
These are platform clear logos that I created for Big Box. They've been available on the forums for some time but not in the download section. There are normal and scanline versions of each logo along with a number of alternate versions for some logos, which also have scanline variants. Platform/Variant Availability Chart Number of platforms included: 56 Total number of clear logos included: 218 I will continue to create more based on requests as time allows. If you have a specific request, post it in the comments and I'll see what I can do. Other image/video projects: -
I went ahead and added these to the downloads section as well. That didn't exist when I first started making these
