  1. Please please please please please just check your MAME.ini. Please. I'm seriously begging you. I'm not trolling, I'm not being mean, I'm 100% serious - please just check your MAME.ini and see what it has as the rompath. Please.
  2. Open your mame.ini (Mameui64 -> Ini) What do you have in the "rompath" section out of curiosity? Yet that doesn't seem to stop you from being very certain that it's LB's fault, despite the fact that we've all shown you evidence to the contrary.
  3. Rom location: MAMEUI location: MAMEUI "Roms" folder: LB entry: As @lordmonkus said, LB doesn't care where they are. LB is essentially a visually pleasing, easily organizable collection of Windows shortcuts. You're saying "I want you to direct this file [rom] to his executable [emulator]". That's it.
  4. Moooore purchases. I went looking though the "metroidvania" tag. The Aquatic Adventure of the Last Human / $2.49 (75% off): http://store.steampowered.com/app/401360/The_Aquatic_Adventure_of_the_Last_Human/ Seraph / $2.59 (80% off): http://store.steampowered.com/app/425670/Seraph/ Song of the Deep / $3.74 (75% off): http://store.steampowered.com/app/460700/Song_of_the_Deep/
  5. This is your regularly scheduled "Anachronox is on sale" PSA. I gotta do it. It's on sale. It's less than $2. Everyone should play it. That is all. http://store.steampowered.com/app/242940/Anachronox/
  6. Yeah, the LBA games are good. Worth playing.
  7. Yep haha. I've still got 337 games on my wishlist and about half of them are on sale. I should probably clear some of that crap out - if it's on sale for $1 and I still don't buy it I can probably remove it. http://steamcommunity.com/id/Zombeav/wishlist

Well the only way to do that without actually showing separate entries for each game would be to do them via a single entry + additional apps (either added manually or via consolidation). You could name the additional apps "Commodore 64", "VIC-20" etc. and direct each to the appropriate game/emulator at which point they'll show up in the right-click menu in LB or in the details menu in BB. To be honest with you, even if you were to go through the process of doing all this, I don't think it's going to have the impact that you think it will. If you're having performance issues, it's probably not because you have 10 different Mario games in your library.

The only other thing I could think of would be to consolidate them all by doing something like going to "All" in LB, entering something like "Mario", selecting them all, and then consolidating them into one entry - you'd still have to choose a platform for it though, and it'd only show up in that one platform. I'm not sure how the emulators would be individually parsed into the additional apps either, you might have to still set them manually once they're pulled in. It'd still be some manual work and it'd only show up in a single platform. I don't think you'd want all the related games in the details panel honestly. There's kindof a lot of information there already, between images, videos, and metadata - I think it'd kindof be a mess with those added in.
  10. Well... it's that time again... the time when we must all appease the Steam god or risk facing lord Gaben's wrath. And so, with humble supplication, we expand our hoard of games that we'll probably never play. And it was good... ish. ... So! Anybody get anything good? Stuff I've picked up thus far: Doom / $14.99 (50% off) : http://store.steampowered.com/app/379720/DOOM/ Pixel Privateers / $4.94 (67% off): http://store.steampowered.com/app/342640/Pixel_Privateers/ Clustertruck / $4.94 (67% off): http://store.steampowered.com/app/397950/Clustertruck/ Bastard Bonds / $5.43 (66% off): http://store.steampowered.com/app/486720/Bastard_Bonds/ Orion Trail / $2.95 (63% off): http://store.steampowered.com/app/381260/Orion_Trail/ Stories: The Path of Destinies / $3.74 (75% off): http://store.steampowered.com/app/439190/Stories_The_Path_of_Destinies/ Halcyon 6: Starbase Commander / $9.99 (50% off): http://store.steampowered.com/app/371200/Halcyon_6_Starbase_Commander/ Pollen / $2.99 (80% off): http://store.steampowered.com/app/393750/POLLEN/ Blacksea Odyssey / $4.99 (50% off): http://store.steampowered.com/app/369550/Blacksea_Odyssey/ Skyshine's Bedlam / $1.99 (90% off): http://store.steampowered.com/app/367600/Skyshines_BEDLAM/
  11. I make it a point to try and find new stuff as often as possible, and it's always equal parts exciting and sad when it turns out that practically nobody else listens to them.
  12. Hmmm... well they're on bandcamp as well: https://monomorte.bandcamp.com/album/coven-xxiii https://monomorte.bandcamp.com/album/ad-extremvm https://monomorte.bandcamp.com/album/the-three-mothers
  13. I just found this guy a couple hours ago and I've now listened to most of the stuff he's released at this point - really enjoyable stuff. Makes me think of something you'd hear in a vampire night club. A bit industrial, a bit ambient, a bit electronic... good stuff.
  14. I've got one of these. It's not amazing or anything but it does what I need it to do and it was cheap. It works well with all the Android emulators I've thrown at it.
  15. Info on the shader changes: https://www.libretro.com/index.php/shader-changes/ "...users with Nvidia or AMD GPUs must update their RetroArch installation [to 1.6.0] if they want to use the updated shaders. Users with Intel IGPs will be no worse off if they don’t update, since those shaders were already broken for them, but they’ll probably *want* to update to gain access to the many fancy shaders that now work properly on their machines. Mobile GPUs using GLES had many of the same issues that Intel IGPs had, with many shaders refusing to work without #version directives, but GLES compatibility added in a further complication: GLES requires its own separate #version directives, either #version 100 es or #version 300 es, which are different from and incompatible with desktop GL’s #versions. To get around this, we added a trick in RetroArch to change any #version of 120 or below to #version 100, which is roughly comparable in features to 120, and any #version 130 or above to #version 300 es whenever a GLES context is used. This should get everything working as effectively and consistently as possible on mobile GPUs, but if anything slipped through the cracks, be sure to file an issue report at the GLSL shader repo." I'm not sure what your video card is, but that could also be an issue.
  16. It also enables you to use a mouse for zapper games
  17. Correct. Depending on the platform, there may be multiple cores available for use (especially some of the more popular systems like NES and SNES) but they're basically emulator "plugins". You download the ones you want in RA and then indicate which ones you want to use for which platforms in LB.
  18. I use Retroarch for most platforms when a core is available, for a number of reasons, most of which have already been covered in this thread. I could go on about some niche things (like this or this) but suffice it to say RA is an excellent all-rounder with some great features... once you come to grips with it and wrap your head around it, which admittedly takes some time. It is not newbie friendly (though that's improved a good deal since the early days) and there are some questionable/head-scratching design decisions in there, but it is worth the time investment. Luckily there's no shortage of tutorials or RA users round these parts. There are a few exceptions where I prefer a standalone emulator to RA though: PPSSPP (PSP) - Standalone is already a pretty outstanding emulator so there isn't a lot of room for improvement in the first place, and in most cases it's just a better option - less bugs, it runs better, etc. CCS64 (C64) - There is (now) a RA port of WinVice, but I don't recommend it as it's kindof a pain in the ass to setup and doesn't have the depth of features available in standalone C64 emulators. WinVice, Hoxs64, and CCS64 are all good standalone C64 emulators with CCS64 being my favorite. The "Maximum 1541 Speed" feature is a godsend and it's usefulness (which basically translates into automatic, practically non-existent load times) can't be overstated. 4DO (3DO) - Standalone 4DO supports a couple of games that aren't supported by the RA core such as Crash n' Burn. Desmume (DS) - The RA core has some pretty serious issues with sound in some games - namely in the form of a lack of sound interpolation that's found in the standalone version, resulting in some crunchy/crackly/awful audio depending on the game. Demul (Dreamcast) - Demul is simply the best DC emulator available currently. Even it's far from perfect, but it's a good deal better than Reicast. DOSBox (DOS) and ScummVM - These are both available in RA but they're kindof a mess to use in that setting; DOSBox especially. Setup for a lot of DOS games tends to require a certain amount of backend work and it's just not conducive to the RA setting. I don't think there's a way to tap into digital midi devices like Munt (an MT-32 emulator) via RA either.
  19. It should probably also be noted that, even if this is implemented (and I don't think that'd be difficult to do), the likely bigger issue would be with the titles being in the DB in the first place. You can have the freedom to correctly scrape "Caca, Le" and "Scheiße, Die" all day long and it won't help if they're not in the DB in the first place
  20. I don't know if I'd go as far as to say it's common practice so much as Launchbox simply adheres to the notion that you can have them named "[something], the" and it'll work just fine. If you don't, and have "The [something]" Launchbox will still treat it the same, by default, in terms of alphabetical organization in your library and for scraping purposes. If you use CCS64 via Launchbox, you actually can't use roms that have commas in the file name (due to some kind of internal weirdness with LB and how it communicates with CCS64, not because of CCS64 itself) so for those "[something], the" isn't an option. They scrape properly either way though. I do agree that foreign language titles should be treated the same way though. If "[something], The" and "The [something]" both get recognized properly, "[something], Le" and "Le [something]" should too. 21. Yes you can - you login to your account on Backblaze, go to "View/Restore files", select the files/folders you want to restore and tell it to restore.
  22. Carbonite is twice as much per year in order to achieve the same level of service. In years prior they used to throttle the shit out of your upload speed but I guess they finally lost enough customers to warrant changing that. You can't backup external drives with Carbonite unless you have a minimum of their "Plus" tier which is $100/year. If you buy a year in advance, Backblaze is $50/year with no storage limit, no drive limit, and no upload throttling.
