  1. Launchbox on Android was never a"no", it's just a longer term goal. It would require building LB for it from scratch and would take time, this would be time not spent improving the Windows version. The other option would be to pay someone to do it but that would require the money needed to pay someone fulltime which would not be cheap.
  2. Demul gets updates even though they aren't as regular as Reicast or Redream. Last update on EmuCR was in April of last year.
  3. In my console / computer setup for Mame I just throw all my bios in the \roms folder of the Mame install, that way I don't have to do any rompath editing all.
  4. That is very odd indeed if you are 100% certain that your rompath and bios are correct. The only reason I have 197 is just because it was the last version I bothered to setup and have not bothered upgrading it.
  5. I have Colecovision working using stand alone Mame, I have a separate install of Mame 197 setup specifically for console and computer emulation and I just tested War Games from the No Intro rom set with the .col file extension and it works perfectly fine using the coleco -cart command line parameter. Also tested with the RA MSX core and it works there too.
  6. Platform Categories already do this for you obviously along with Platforms in general but yes you can go even further with sub categories using playlists.
  7. PJ64 will run better on lower end hardware but M64p is the better emulator and easier to get working. As for your plugin not initialized error message you will have see what you can find on their forums or on the internet for a solution.
  8. This sounds like an incompatibility with a PJ64 plugin and your PC. I would like to suggest you try out M64p as an N64 emulator, it is much more user friendly out of the box. https://m64p.github.io/
  9. My recommendation is to use the latest full romset you have and get the version of Mame for that rom set from the Mame website.
  10. The same way you find a needle in a haystack unfortunately.
  11. Ok. You have 2 different rom sets, this is where the problem is then. You really should have 1 set only and work with it and you should use the version of Mame that matches your rom set. If you have different versions you will start to run into rom incompatibility.
  12. If a few games aren't working then it is most likely the rom is not compatible with the emulator version. I am also a little confused here, are you using the Mame core in RA or stand alone Mame ?
  13. When you say "tab" do you mean platform or playlist ? If you mean platform, did you make an associated platform for the emulator/s you want to use ? Also if you did mean platform you should be using playlists for this, this is precisely what playlists were made for, so you could have "tabs" of games from different platforms without having to configure an emulator for it other than the platform those game were imported for in the first place.
  14. Is your mame.ini file located in your Mame folder at the same place as your Mame executable ? If it is not look in in the \ini folder of your Mame install and move it out to the main folder.
  15. Yeah it's cutesy but it's the best cutesy shmup I have played, the gameplay is 100% solid. Yeah MUSHA isn't a super rare game but it's also no super common either. It ain't Super Mario World or Sonic common, it's more like a medium rare game and the reason you see them for sale is the price, people want to make that money. Like I said, I have been tempted to sell my copy because of that price tag, if it were only a 50-100$ game that thought wouldn't even enter my mind.
  16. Yeah Deathsmiles is great though it's a tad on the easy side until you get to the last stage. One game I forgot on my list is Harmful Park for the Playstation, that game is so good. It is expensive but if people didn't pay those prices then they wouldn't be sold at those prices and it's one of those games that get those prices because it is just that good. Now I am not saying it is worth the price of admission but it is worth quite a bit. I keep thinking of selling my copy but then I always decide against it, I have had my copy since it came out so there will be no selling it now.
  17. Where is your mame.ini located ? It should be put in the main folder with your mame executable, it doesn't like to launch properly when it's in the \ini folder.
  18. 1. MUSHA 2. Darius Gaiden 3. Smash TV (I know it's no a typical "shmup" but it's a shooter) 4. Thunder Force 3&4
  19. You have to choose a core, you just pick from a drop down menu that is in the 2nd column next to the platform name.
  20. There are but they are going to cost you to get a significant upgrade over what you already have. You can look into what chips your motherboard supports and upgrade the CPU alone because if you have to upgrade your MB and Ram your upgrade costs are going to be high.
  21. There are some Pentium CPUs that have very high clock speeds and works with some emulators but those CPUs are either single core / thread CPUs and are not very suitable for modern multi threaded applications.
  22. There is usually no simple answer to your question other than "buy the most expensive and powerful CPU you can afford and build around that". Emulation, especially of newer systems is very demanding on the CPU. Also with emulating newer systems the emulation uses many speed hacks because current hardware is not capable of emulating those systems on a "low level" and in turn this can cause very noticeable issues in how well games are emulated. PCSX2 and Citra are 2 such examples of emulators that while they work and many games are in a playable state there are many games that will have some issues. You should check the emulators compatibility charts for individual games. PCSX2 is an emulator where often games require their own specific settings to iron out some kinks. Now having said all that your system should be fine for those systems you mentioned, an i5-6500 is fairly powerful for emulation and you would have to spend quite a bit of money to get a noticeable improvement on performance. I would also add that going from a GTX 1070 to an RTX 2060 would be a waste of money and not an upgrade at all.
  23. Ok just as I suspected from your /r/launchbox post, try this: In your associated platforms default command line put: ti99_4a -cart You also may want to uncheck the Don't Use Quotes and Use File Name Only boxes, those in my experience have to be off with this type of stuff. Also remove the ti99_4a -cart from the Default Command-Line Parameters box in the Emulator Details tab. Here is a couple of screenshots of my Mame setup that I use for non arcade stuff.
  24. I'm just having another go at this and I can get the mouse to move the cursor but not shoot like @TheMadMan007 said. I know I have had this working in the past though, I played Bodycount with it but I haven't touched it since then so that's a long time, like maybe 2 years or so. Doing a quick search on thier forums it seems this did get broken sometime last year. I know it's easy to dump on the RA guys for this but at the same time it's not like the whole team all works on the same stuff. Different guys work on different things in their field of expertise. It's possible something got broke within the core at some point and either no one noticed or told them. I tried the Pico core and that has no light gun support at all, the same with stand alone Mame for the Genesis emulation in it.
