Maybe I am a noob, but why do I need any launcher?
Lordmonkus replied to metamorphic's topic in Noobs
Moved this thread to a more appropriate section. You don't need RocketLauncher at all but some people do like it for some of the features it can provide that Launchbox cannot on it's own like bezels for all emulators and loading screens. I don't use RocketLauncher and neither do most users. -
Those themes are a new thing that came in with the latest betas for the 8.6 release. I made this that theme because I had the same complaints as you about the spacing and a few other minor annoyances.

Mame NoFiller Version 2
Lordmonkus replied to Lordmonkus's topic in Third-Party Applications and Plugins (Released)
Outrun uses a wheel and that is why I didn't include it in the set. The best way (IMHO) to play Outrun is using the Cannonball core in Retroarch. -
Version 8.6 - Released September 3, 2018 - Note: The original LaunchBox interface has been completely removed and replaced with the LaunchBox.Next interface. This was done in order to allow much quicker development going forward, solve a number of long-standing stability and flexibility problems caused by the previous interface, and solve fragmentation problems. Please let us know on the forums if you have issues with the new interface. - New Premium Feature: LaunchBox now supports custom themes just like Big Box! Check out the new LaunchBox\LBThemes folder, and change the theme under Tools > Options > Visuals. - New Premium Feature: A new "Disable Mouse Cursor Across All Apps" option is available in Big Box under Options > Mouse; this option will hide the mouse cursor completely while Big Box is open, in all apps. - New Premium Feature: Big Box now has options to allow or disable sleep, reboot, shut down, switch image type, switch view, and switch filter type (view type) while locked - New Feature: A new "Import MAME Arcade Full Set" wizard has been added to LaunchBox (under Tools > Import); this wizard will allow you to import a full set of the latest version of MAME games, and will work with merged, split, or non-merged sets. As a result, MAME imports no longer have to be tied to files. - New Feature: When importing a full set via the new "Import MAME Arcade Full Set" wizard, clones are optionally imported into additional apps. This allows you to have all clones accessible without cluttering your collection. - New Premium Feature: Now that MAME/Arcade metadata is much more accurate, the MAME/Arcade playlists have been overhauled to use the auto-filtering playlist system instead of a list of games (which turns out to be much more effective and also more performant). In addition, many new playlists have been added, including playlists for 2-player and 4-player games, as well as various genres like Beat Em Ups, Racing Games, etc. These new playlist options are available in the new "Import MAME Arcade Full Set" wizard as well as the "Create Missing Arcade/MAME Playlists" option from the Tools menu. Please keep in mind though that you will need to update and overwrite your metadata for your MAME games or the new playlists will not work properly. - Improvement: The LaunchBox MAME metadata (used to filter and gather metadata for MAME games on import) has been updated to the MAME 0.201 data, and a new backend system has been put in place to easily update the data for new MAME versions in the future. Hooray! - Improvement: The Download Metadata and Media and Import ROMs from Files wizards have been updated to prioritize the new, more accurate MAME data - Improvement: The LaunchBox.Next and LaunchBox image cache folders have been consolidated into a new LaunchBox\Images\Cache-LB folder, and the Big Box image cache has been changed to LaunchBox\Images\Cache-BB. These changes should take effect upon starting LaunchBox or Big Box. - Improvement: The LaunchBox main menu is now being cached on startup so that it opens quicker on first launch - Improvement: Many new platform/category/playlist theme videos have been added to the video downloader thanks to RetroHumanoid, PaDeMoniuM, CTRL-ALT-DEFEAT, dragon57, harryoke, and uv777bk from the forums, as well as prioritization options for each - Improvement: Any plugin errors that occur will no longer prompt the user; however, for developers, the errors will still show up in the debug logs - Fixed: Some message boxes were not centering properly - Fixed: Several background music priority/overlap bugs have been fixed in Big Box - Fixed: Controller input in Big Box was experiencing occasional hiccups on some systems - Fixed: Setting controller buttons in LaunchBox was occasionally glitching out - Fixed: Controllers were lagging sporadically in Big Box on some systems (especially underpowered systems). If you still experience controller lag in Big Box, please make sure that the "Use All Controllers" setting in Big Box is disabled. - Fixed: Gif images were not displaying in the LaunchBox Game Details Sidebar - Fixed: The list view in LaunchBox was not sorting secondarily by title when other columns were the primary sort - Fixed: LaunchBox was occasionally creating Manuals, Music, and Videos folders in emulator directories - Fixed: LaunchBox (.Next) was missing plugin support for the Tools menu - Fixed: LaunchBox (.Next) was missing LEDBlinky support - Fixed: LaunchBox (.Next) was missing plugin events for LaunchBox for startup completed and shutdown beginning

Put this as a feature request on the bitbucket page. Also something to keep in mind "those frontends" you speak of would be HyperSpin and its flash supported clear logos. Flash is a dead and insecure tech which no one should be using anymore, you shouldn't even have it installed on your system.

You didn't do anything wrong as far as we are concerned but Colpipes packages we cannot officially support because of legal reasons. We have all sorts of tutorials and guides to help people getting started out. Hopefully someone who knows more about RocketLauncher can help you out, I personally don't use it because it is an extra layer that can go wrong.
-
I won't lock or delete this but to be completely honest with you here we cannot support you with issues when you download someone elses pre-made Launchbox packages. Judging by the sounds of the issue it has to do with the RocketLauncher module but I don't know because I don't use RocketLauncher.

Yup, that's a missing bios or bios not compatible with the version of Mame being used.
-
Turn on the "Extract ROM Archive Before Running", be careful with this though if you use Retroarch for arcade stuff like Mame and FBA. Those arcade emulators need their roms zipped and having them unzipped breaks them so you may want to make a separate RA emulator entry for unzipping.

Command Line Parameters Reseting/Not Saving Retroarch
Lordmonkus replied to nguy1090's topic in Troubleshooting
Yeah typing that into the extra command line parameters will break it, you are essentially doubling up on the load core command with that. The extra command line is for stuff like sub systems or custom configs. -

I'm just trying to understand exactly what you are trying to explain. Also what version of LB are you using ? The older versions you have to type in the command line parameters to tell which core to load with each platform but not too long ago there was an update which made that not the case anymore. Now there is a dropdown menu to select the core you want and the extra command line parameters are for just that "extra commands". -

Can you post a screenshot ? -
Add them like any other Windows executable, maybe even give them their own platform to keep them separated.
-
I believe this is something planned, we had a discussion about this exact thing in Discord a couple of nights ago.
-
I hate you, stealing my thunder has the premiere LB Next theme creator. Just kidding, this looks awesome man, can't wait to use it and maybe tweak it some.
-
This bug still exists, I just encountered it.

This may not be the only or easiest way but may rip the disk to an .img file using ImgBurn and then use the free version of Iso Buster to convert to .cdi. I'm not sure of the different file types Redream supports so maybe there is something simpler and doesn't need to be converted.

They are easy enough for the end user to pick out what they don't want, I even listed which games and roms are split screen and / or 4 or 6 player versions. Everything is there for easy end user choice and management, I even included the spreadsheet file and full lists.

This is now continued over on the Third Party Apps and Plugins downloads page, I added 5 new games fro 201 Pepper II - pepper2.zip Pink Sweets Suicide Club - pinkswtssc.zip Tank Force - tankfrce.zip Vulgus - vulgus.zip Xevious - xevious.zip

Mame NoFiller Version 2
Lordmonkus posted a topic in Third-Party Applications and Plugins (Released)
Mame NoFiller Version 2 View File Requirements: A complete Mame Non Merged rom set for the version you are downloading. You must have this downloaded to your hard drive to use the batch file. If you have a seedbox you can use the included NoFiller v2 - *.txt file to copy / paste to a filter and only download those files if you don't want to use your own internet bandwidth downloaded a complete Non Merged rom set. What is this ? This is a batch file for people who only want to have a clean and streamlined set of games in their Arcade platform. It will copy out a curated set of roms from a full Mame rom set. The list of games selected was based off of input from people here on the forums, discord and my own personal experience playing these games growing up in the arcades back in the 80s and 90s. There are 434 rom files that will be copied out but there are some duplicates of a few games that have 2 or 4 player versions such as TMNT or Gauntlet for example, you can pick which one you want to use in your setup. (see below) This is not the end all be all set of games of course but it is a good solid base to build your own personal set from rather than trying to pare down a complete set of roms. I tried not to include games that had really funky controls or light gun games though I did include some trackball and spinner games. Included in the zip file you will find a batch file, spreadsheet document and 2 text files (1 list of roms and 1 list of games). The spreadsheet will allow people an easy way to maintain and add games as required. The rom list will make it easy to download only those files if you use a seedbox to get your roms from a torrent and the games list will let you compare what you have imported into Launchbox to see if anything is missing. How to use this: First you will need to download the Non-Merged rom set that the batch file was made with, using a different set than the bat file was intended for may or may not cause incompatibilities in roms. Then simply copy the batch file into the folder with all of the roms and double click the bat file, it will make a new folder within that folder and copy all of the roms into that newly created folder. From there you can copy that new folder of roms to anywhere you like and import them into Launchbox, be sure to update your rom path in your mame.ini to point this rom set location. You can now do whatever you like with your full set you downloaded, it is no longer needed for the NoFiller set to function, though you may want to keep a backup just in case. Extra Notes: Games that have problems importing into LB, will need to be imported individually. Akai Katana - akatana.zip Crossed Swords 2 - crswd2bl.zip KaGeKi - kagekiu.zip Sailormoon - sailormnnu.zip Wrestlefest - wwfwfestu.zip Games that have more than 1 rom file for 2 player or split screen variant. darius2 (3 screen) darius2d (2 screen) gauntlet (4 player) gauntlet2p (2 player) ssriders (4 player) ssridersabd (2 player) tmnt (4 player) tmnt2pj (2 player) xmen (4 player, 1 screen, pick any character) xmen6pu (6 player, 2 screen, coin slot determines character) List of games in this batch file. Check your task manager and see if the Launchbox process is still running, close it out if it is.
-
Try closing LB and going to your Launchbox\Data\Playlists folder and renaming them.
-
They are in the Arcade platform and you can rename em to whatever you want, I even moved mine to their own platform category for my organizational reasons.
-
Check in your \Launchbox\Updates folder, it should be there unless you deleted it.
