After the most recent update, every time I press ESC to go back to the previous menu, it takes a long time, especially to go from the main menu to the options menu. I have to constantly press ESC for it to finally change. Anyone having the same issue?

Taito Type X is complete. I just uploaded the last 5 games to the DB. Everyone should be able to scrape it now (once they are approved) Took a bit longer than anticipated. Real life tends to get in the way sometimes. Daphne will be next. I'm still cleaning up some of the artwork.

LaunchBox Games Database Changes - 2016/08/15
Styphelus replied to Jason Carr's topic in News and Updates
The decision not to split them was made for the LB database which is fine. Virgilio27 was asking if he could split them since he has them both in separate folders. I'm assuming is an ex HS user. He just needs to add a custom platform and scrape as Turbografx. It's easy. -
LaunchBox Games Database Changes - 2016/08/15

No intro set are not the most complete, not by a long shot. They might be popular because they are easy to find but I wouldn't use them. If people don't want to split their sets, that's up to them. I don't care what they do. If they want to keep using no-intro, again, that's their choice. -
A lot of people who have been around for a while will download complete rom sets because it's easier that way, especially people from the HS community. You just download a complete set that has been tested and named properly and all the videos at emumovies, artwork and clear logos will match exactly because they were all created specifically for those sets. It's a lot easier than just downloading random games or no-intro sets. It's all done for you. Much much easier.

LaunchBox Games Database Changes - 2016/08/15
Styphelus replied to Jason Carr's topic in News and Updates
Not if you use Hyperspin rom sets. The PC Engine and Turbografx in those sets don't contain duplicates unless there are noticeable differences between the two regions. The PC Engine set is also restricted to games that can be played without knowledge of Japanese, meaning that every game in that set is playable. You may say they are the same but the Turbografx had a much smaller library released specifically for it so a lot of people like keeping them seperate. The artwork is completely different as well. PC engine games were sold in CD cases with a HUcard inside. Turbografx came in a rectangular cardboard box. Keeping them separate keeps things organized and looking consistent. -
Thanks Kyoken. I already have that but what I wanted to do was to import all my games into lunchbox and hide the ones without covers so they won't display in Bigbox. I still want them in Launchbox so that i can slowly start adding cover art to them. What you mentioned works but I would then have to add each game manually after as I get cover art for them and go through all the import menus for each one, unless I do them in batches.
-
Is there a way to batch select only games without cover art? I imported my ZX spectrum collection. However there are over 5000 games and I only have cover art for about 1000 of them. I want to be able to select all the games without cover art and hide them. I'm manually selecting several at a time but even doing it this way is taking way too long.

Not sure if this has been discussed before but are there plans to expand the Genres section in the DB? I've been submitting the Taito games and the current selection is very restrictive. For example, vertical shooters and side scrolling shooters are not technically shooters like first person shooters, but there's no way to differentiate them. Party games are another problem I added the "party" Taito games under either music or strategy because it seems like the Mario Party games are classified as strategy. However, strategy should apply to games like C&C or Starcraft or Civilization, not Mario Party style games. It would be nicer to expand the Genres a bit. I'm not saying to get carried away with strategy, real time strategy, turned based strategy and so on. That would probably be too much, but adding a few more genres would be beneficial.

I'm enjoying it. Up the difficulty if you find it too easy. Did you play the first one? I play it more for the story than anything else.

Keltoigael, Do you have the backgrounds (without the console or logo) for the PC-Engine and TurboGrafx 16 in PSD format in a bigger size? I wouldn't mind using them for my System backgrounds as well.
-
Looks like they have already been removed. Not just this set but everything he uploaded.
-
C16 kid, you need to stop uploading box sets that you did not create. There are taken straight out of the Hyperspin downloads section.
-
Thanks. I do have a question. Are any of the 11 games released on this system playable without knowing Japanese? Are there any translations available?

I uploaded a few more Taito games. I still have another 20 or so to add to the DB (been busy with real life). However I noticed that there's a duplicate for Nicktoons Racing (one has artwork, one has not). I marked it for deletion. Daphne Laserdisc will be next on my list. Still cleaning up and gathering all the flyers I can. Emumovies has a few but some are in bad shape so i won't be using those. There should be an easier way to add games to the db. The current way is too time consuming.

First we need a plugin for RocketLauncher that works properly with Launchbox. The current one has a lot of problems. 1. Takes a long time to start up 2. Is missing the date and rating in the fade screen 3. No access to RocketLauncher media from inside the in-game Pause menu.

The one in the downloads section. After 6 or 7 tries, it finally downloaded. Really nice set of covers. Thanks! I love it. -
What happened to these?

Sony PSP 3D Boxart and UMD - work in progress (sharing)

I can't download this set. Gets to 657MB and I get Failed - Network Error. -
No one over at Hyperspin gets paid for the work they do. I know this. I never got a single penny. All the work posted there is done for free. Heck, a lot of it ends up over at Emumovies anyway. Having said that, a lot of the guys might not like their work ending up elsewhere. Either way I don't care for themes, that is why I moved to Launchbox.
-
Cebion, are you in any way involved with the Games DB? If not, do you know who takes care of it?
-
Ok thanks. Not sure how that worked. Just one more question, I've been adding the game flyers under the flyer category. Should they be added under front cover instead? These are are to be used as game covers after all. I still have about 20 more games to add to Taito and all of the Daphne games as well.

I was submitting games for Taito Type X and in one of them I forgot to add the Game Flyer. How do i fix that?

Cool, no probs. Guess since you've gone through this conversation, there's really no need to e-mail you. All the info is in here. I
