Thanks guys. I was able to fix them all manually. Much better now. I'll stay away from the Wikipedia scraper in the future.

I just finished a collection of Daphne flyers for Hyperspin and have been adding these games to my setup. So you guys don't mind if I start populating the Daphne section in the db here? Also, I sent Jason a package for Taito Type X over a week ago. Has a mentioned anything? I sent him a PM with a link to download all the stuff but never heard back from him. Don't know if he got it or not. Can anyone add a category for Taito Type X or Arcade PC or whatever you want to call that system? I have flyers, clear logos, backgrounds, and game info all ready to be added.

Sony PSP 3D Boxart and UMD - work in progress (sharing)

I missed it as well. -
Really nice theme but how do you deal with arcade systems (mame, Atomiswave, Namoni, Mode 2, Model 3, Taito Type X and so on). Same goes for systems like ScummVM.

Wondering the same thing. My Genres are quite a mess.

This is a question for our friend Frank, former PCSX2 developer!

I was wondering the same. I also wanted to change it in the "text" view as well. I wanted to make that text smaller and reduce the size of the artwork while increasing the size of the game video. Hopefully we'll be able to edit all that when there's a proper theme editor.

Is there any way to add the number of players to a game? The game's DB clearly states the number of players but it seems that Launchbox does not pick up this info and editing a game does not provide this option either.

I'm trying to add Sega Model 2 and Sega Model 3 but nothing scrapes. All I get are roms with the original rom name and and empty thumb nail. This is if I sreape them as both Model 2 and Model 3 respectivelly (both systems are available in the "scrape as" menu) I tried scraping them as arcade titles and a few of them to show up after that but the vast majority do not.

I decided to add a new Platform and use the new "scarp as" feature so I added the NEC PC Engine, scarpped as Turbografx-16 and it all seemed ok. I eddied my Launchbox Retroarch settings in Launchbox and added the new system and command line for Rocketlauncher in Launchbox to start with the NEC PC Engine. Added the proper hyperspin database to my Databases folder in Launchbox as well. Started a game and it lunched Retroarch through Rocketlauncher with Turbografx settings. Weird! So I right clicked on a game in launchbox and clicked on open rocketlauncher and it it showing TurboGrafx-16. Why is that? Why wont it show NEC PC Engine which is the name of the system in RockLauncher, on the Hyperspin database and on the Retroarch command line in Launchbox? Nowhere in my settings for this system do I mention Turbografx-16, yet, launchbox is still telling Rocketlauncher to start the Turbografx.

The latest version seems to have broken my backgrounds in Big Box. I have a different background for each of my systems under H:\LaunchBox\Images\Platforms\Sega Genesis\Fanart for example (for the Genesis) This would show the same background image under the platform menu and the games menu. Now it only shows it under the platform menu. Once I go into games, I just get black background. I do I apply the same background to my games now? This was working perfectly fine before the latest update.

If PC games go under the "Windows" platform, where would my win3xo game collection go under? These are windows games, except they are ancient and I really don't want them mixed up with my regular PC games. win3xo is like the ExoDOS collection but for games released for windows in the early days of windows 95 and 98.

Hi Craig, Have you been able to scrap the systems you have added? I just added AAE on my system but it doesn't scrap anything. I tried removing it and adding it under "Arcade" but again, no scrapping happens even when I check the GamesDB and the games are there. Are you adding them all manually?

Is it possible to show only roms that have wheel art available? For example, my ZX spectrum game collection has over 4000 roms but I only have wheel art (clear logo) for about 1000 of those games. Those 1000 games are the only games I want Launchbox/Bigbox to show on the wheel.

I'm not a programmer, but can't the same code be used for both system? Doesn't the scrapper work based on your roms folder? If you already have it set to look for info in the Turbografx-16 DB, can't you just copy that same code within Launchbox and assigned to PC-Engine? Within the code, it can still look for all the Turbografx-16 stuff on the DB, but it gets assigned to PC-Engine in Launchbox. That would be an easy fix. Whoever wants it as part of the same system can keep it that way and whoever wants them separate can do it that way as well. Two systems taking info from the same DB. I understand you want to keep things really simple for the existing community but at the same time, if you want to attract other communities and bring them here, you will need to add a certain level of customization for those users as well. Maybe add and advanced options button like Windows has. Keep it simple for one crowd, and a bit more in depth for another. It's part of growing a business.

If you say so. Guess you don't miss having "fade" as the game loads with a nice progression bar hidding all the processes required to startup the emulator and game, bezels for 4:3 displays, multiple emulators per system, shaders for emulators that don't support them, instruction cards that can be brought out in the middle of the game and the "pause" menu, that gives you access to a save and load game manager, access to manuals, maps, cheats, and move lists during the game along with artwork, videos and so on. There's a lot more to it like being able to configure your emulators straight from Rocketlauncher, ability to use ahk scripts to simulate key presses (usefull for PC games with a loader screen) and so on. Those are just the most sought after features. You are missing on a lot of cool stuff by choosing not to use it.

That's your opinion. Obviously, CraigAnderson, Alexis524, me, and everyone over at the Hyperspin, Emumovies and Rocketluncher forums disagrees.
-
Thanks, but no where in that video does he mention copying a data file from Hyperspin. What data file is this? If you follow his instructions, Rocketlauncher with crash and say that it can't find a XML file. Would you mind posting mode detailed instructions? Mine is working because I still have hyperspin installed. Rocketlauncher makes use of the Hyperspin database files. I wanted to be able to get rid of Hyperspin completely.

Not for me they aren't and not for anyone who was previous using Hyperspin. Launchbox has a Nintendo Famicom and a Nintendo Entertainment System. How come? Aren't they the same? The TurboGrafx-16 library is much smaller than the PC-Engine library. I don't want my PC-Engine exclusive games on the Turbografx simply because they never came out on the Turbografx. I really don't want to get into a debate about this again. I also want my AEE and my Dice separate from my Arcade (Mame) and my Sega Mark III separate from my Sega Master System, and my Super Famicom separate from my SNES. I'm going to try a workaround tonight and see if the scraping will still work so i can have my systems the way I want them. Launchbox tapped into the hardcore gamers and collectors over at the Hyperspin forums and as such, we like things in a particular way. Emumovies and Rocketlauncher follow the same format as Hyperspin. Maybe that's the way it should be now that Launchbox is downloading content from Emumovies and will downloading content from Hyperspin in the very near future.

The best thing really would be to use rocketlauncher. Those of us who are more advanced users all use it. It's look overwhelming at first because it gives you a ton of options but once you get used to it, it really is the best way to manage and launch your games. It integrates really well with Launchbox too.
-
Nice. These are cool. I just downloaded them all, but would you mind posting just the console images without the background? It would allow everyone to use a background of their choice.
-
For some reason I can't use Launchbox with Rocketlauncher. For exemple, for N64, everytime I try I get the message "Cannot Find H:\Launchbox\Databases\Nintendo 64\Nintendo 64.XML" My command line in Launchbox is -f "H:\LaunchBox\LaunchBox.exe" -p RocketLauncherUI -s "Nintendo 64" -r I've looked at youtube videos, went to the ROcketLauncher site and everything seems to be correct. Anyone else having this problem? Edit: Found a fix. Not sure what changed in the last few beta versions of Lunchbox but this works now: H:\RocketLauncher\RocketLauncher.exe -s "Nintendo 64" -r

Nice to see you here Craiganderson. I was missing all your crazy systems. I too have been trying to setup some of the same systems (AAE, Vectrex, Dice, PC=Engine, PC-Engine-CD and so on) with mixed results. I think it's because I'm still learning the ins and out of this FE. The Launchbox Database needs a bit of an upgrade. Hopefully that will happen soon.

Missing platform, Sort of, PC Engine
Styphelus replied to TheHillbillyGamer's topic in Contributions
PC-Engine and PC-Engine CD need to be separate from Turbograx-16. These are not the same systems. The PC-Engine was released 2 years prior to the Turbografx and as such has a lot of exclusive games. Hyperlist shows that the PC-Engine has 294 games that can be fully playable without knowledge of Japanese that were never released on the Turbografx-16. It also lists an additional 118 exclusive games on the PC-Engine CD. Not only that but the artwork, covers, carts and so on are completely different. They look weird together with the Turbografx-16. These 2 systems really need to be separate. The Sega Genesis and Magadrive were released at the same time with the same games. Not so for the PC-Engine and Turbografx-16.
