Launchbox\ThirdParty\Chromium\CefSharp.BrowserSubProcess.exe
neil9000 replied to SlaggyChops's topic in Troubleshooting
Yes. -
Those are things i have never used, but i would doubt that they adhere to Launchbox naming standards, so likely wouldnt work with Launchbox. Be glad to be proved wrong by another user who has actual experience with them though, but i assume they are made to work with mame, and not anything else.
-
Yes for the most part. SD cards and USB sticks are made for storage of files, not constant reading and writing like that. Will it work? sure, will it be slow as hell? absolutely. Put Launchbox and emulators on the ssd, just use the sd card for the roms.

how to use WASD in doom etc, instead of the cursor keys.
neil9000 replied to arthur071169's topic in DOSBox
I'd just run it through GZ Doom or Retroarch, they allow remapping, as well as controller support. They also allow very high resolutions, widescreen and high framerates too. -
For ease of use put them in the same folder, but you can have them anywhere as long as you tell the emulator the paths either via the mame UI or directly in the mame.ini file.
-
Kempston is a good base as most games work with that, but you may need to change some games on a singular basis, but that is why we have remaps that can be saved as core, content directory, or game remaps.
-
OK, just tested here and mine does the same when set to Kempston, not sure why that is as i havent seen that before. However Atic Atac also says press 3 for cursor joystick, so i tested that and it works fine. So load that game go to quick menu/controls and set it to "Cursor Joystick" and save a game remap so that game always uses that control stick.

The pause screen is a Launchbox feature, so it's a Launchbox option, Tools/Options/Controller Mappings. I'm using the Fuse core, Quick menu/controls/player 1/ i set it to kempston joystick, which will work with 95% of games. Most games at launch will say press a specific button for Kempston mode, you pull up the onscreen keyboard with back/select and press the button the game wants for kempston. Treasure Island Dizzy for example wants K to start in kempston mode.
-
You can use any key you like just set it in the controller mappings section. Also why not just use a controller for spectrum? Q, A, O, P, and space wasn't fun in the 80's, even less so now.
-
Have you pointed Launchbox to the new files? Do the CHD's work just in the emulator alone. Again, like i previously said the cue will convert just fine, as long as the batch file you have contains cue as a source to convert. You can add any file type to the highlighted part, i used the same script to convert cue/bin PS1 games with no issues, the batch file just needs to know what files it is looking for, i could add gdi or cdi to the above highlighted part of the batch script and it would then convert those too.
-
Platform videos go there, you can download them in Launchbox, Tools/Downloads/Platform/Playlist videos.
-
That will just depend on what file extensions are in the bat file you used, you can easily edit it to just add more extensions.

idp.generic in Launchbox.exe quarantined by AVG
neil9000 replied to Dylan M Ferrier's topic in Troubleshooting
Official releases get scanned through various online resources in order to try to alleviate this issue, but bad anti virus software is bad anti virus software so not a lot we can really do. Obviously Launchbox is a commercial product, and it wouldn't be good for business if we were selling a virus. Your choice of course, but its not needed at all, Microsoft have a vested interest in trying to keep there OS safe, all the other anti virus company's have a vested interest in making money by converting people to license payers by scaring uneducated people with stunts like this. -
idp.generic in Launchbox.exe quarantined by AVG
neil9000 replied to Dylan M Ferrier's topic in Troubleshooting
Its a issue with your antivirus and not Launchbox. It's a false positive, that many third party anti virus's do, its a ploy to get you to pay for a license by scaring you into thinking perfectly safe files are virus's when they are not. Just use the built in Windows defender it's just as good, free, and rarely provides these false positives. -
Then its clearly not a Launchbox issue as there has been no beta Launchbox update since June 24th and no official release since i think 3rd July. Have you actually looked to see if emumovies is having issues right now before coming here? You know Launchbox does not own/run emumovies right, so its completely possible for there to be issues in Launchbox with emumovies that is completely out of the devs hands.

Tools/Manage/Manage Emulators/Name Of Emulator, uncheck the box.

Need help with Launchbox not launching games full screen.
neil9000 replied to 80sRkadeGuy's topic in Troubleshooting
Should do that by default, especially if other cores are fine. Go to tools/manage/manage emulators/retroarch/associated platforms and make sure you have a check in that checkbox for F or Fulscreen, i forget what it exactly says. Could also be that you saved a core/content directory/game override when Retroarch was windowed, if that is the case you would just save another one with it fullscreen, just hitting F on your keyboard will toggle fullscreen. -
Bezel Project with different Retro Arch Cores
neil9000 replied to djsim101's topic in Troubleshooting
Yeah i use standalone, simply cause the Retroarch cores are troublesome with some aspects as the MAME Ui and the Retroarch fight with each other as they are both present, controls especially can be a huge pain, do you set them up in Retroarch or the MAME core's tab menu, which takes priority? if like me back/select is your Retroarch hotkey then forget about being able to use that button to insert coins, as Retroarch overrides MAME in that case which means that button is unusable in MAME, it's just a pain and a mess and there is a reason the MAME devs themselves hate the Retroarch cores so much. Again though you should only need one emulator for MAME, just get the current version which is 0.245 and the matching emulator version, Launchbox will set it all up and it will just work. The bezel project does also have standalone MAME bezels too. -
Which like most antivirus software have a paid version they would really like you to upgrade to, and what better way to do that than to flag perfectly safe files so that uneducated users think the software is actually working in protecting them from virus's so they pay for the privilege of having the software lie to them. As mentioned the Windows Defender that comes free with your OS is just as capable, and gives far far less of these false positives, while being free always.

Yeah you really do need to provide some actual information, know one will be able to help with a simple "it doesnt work" you didnt even provide basic things like the emulator you are using, do the games work in the emulator by themselves, do you have the bios files etc?

Bezel Project with different Retro Arch Cores
neil9000 replied to djsim101's topic in Troubleshooting
If you have to use different cores for different roms then you have a bad romset, or just a incompatible one, A MAME romset has a version number with it, and you must use the same version of the core that matches that version. I also would not advise using Retroarch for MAME at all, it's the worst option available. -
Bios files are like roms, they are protected under copyright, so are illegal to distribute.
-
Retroarch will not provide you with bios files, nor will anyone on these forums, you will need to use google like everyone else.
