Launchbox doesnt currently work under wine i believe, so you wont be able to run Launchbox on the steamdeck.

LaunchBox opens Redream menu instead of game in multi-disc games
neil9000 replied to k_rollo's topic in Troubleshooting
What are you actually asking here? Your images show you importing two discs for alone in the dark, and those images are exactly what you should see when importing, so i'm not sure as to the issue you are actually enquiring about. -
I believe the bezels on the github page are pre zipped like that in system packs (the same thing happens when using The Bezel Projects official Windows program, and i believe the same happens in my Batocera build which is on Linux), so not a lot we could do other than maybe only extracting the bezels you need out of the zip file, but that would still need to be fully downloaded first so wont be any quicker to download.

Spectrum should just work as long as you have specified the correct core to use in Launchbox. It need zero extra setup, if NES, SNES etc work for you from Launchbox spectrum should too. Can you give more specifics on how you imported and what specifically doesnt work?

Well thats your first mistake, you dont HAVE to upgrade you can happily stay on whatever version you have forever, just keep the same emulator. Because you really do need everything else for the most part, a lot of roms rely on files in other zips that could be completely unrelated to the original rom, we actively discourage people downloading individual roms as they often are from unknown versions, and your example here that would make them almost impossible to update. Thats not how mame works, usually only a file or two in the zip is updated or renamed not the entire zip file, so you need to know which file is updated and have the new file to replace it. Thing is there are tools for this, including clrmamepro which updates the whole set with the "update" pack that gets released alongside the fullset every month. And for the record we would never allow such a program/plugin to be made available on these forums as it would include downloading roms, which is obviously hugely illegal, and highly likely the reason you do not already see such a tool, (along with all the other downsides i already mentioned).

I believe background music is a Bigbox feature. Launchbox has game specific music, but no background as far as i am aware.

I dont use Launchbox for Android i'm afraid, my Shield TV is a media player as designed, nothing else.
-
That is not the Android version, its the Nvidia specific firmware version, i am also on 9.0.2 but on the more recent 2019 tube version of the Shield. That is version 9.0.2 of the "shield experience" firmware, the Android version is actually Android 11. I would through all your folders that should be in the Launchbox folder into the actual Launchbox folder so that your Launchbox is no longer broken and will work correctly. Then simply change the rom paths for roms, this has to be done per platform but is very quick and easy, just highlight all games in a platform by clicking on one and using CTRL-A to highlight them all, then just head to Tools/File Management/Change Roms Folder Path For Selected Games and point it at the correct folder, repeat for each platform. And in future dont mess with the folder structure of programs, programs and games are setup a specific way so that the program knows were to look for files and folders if you move those files and folders you are going to break things, i dont expect you install say a game in steam, then go and find that folder and move some of the files or folders in that elsewhere, cause that would obviously break the game, same thing here.

Tools/Options/Region Priorities, check the regions you want and reorder it the way you would prefer.

Not sure what you are referring to here, that has never been a option. You can however run the Audit which will highlight duplicates in red.

Where do you actually have Launchbox installed, cause it does sound somewhat like permission issues?

Oh stop with the nonsense threats, it's the weekend. Wait until people are actually back in the office and see your reply first. You like a little bit of time away from your day job right, how about offering the same courtesy to our devs?

I'm a little confused here by what you mean "not working". Dreamcast, or in this case from your screenshot Naomi, did not have L3 or R3 buttons in the arcade, so those wont do anything at all in the emulator either. Seems to me you are trying to map non existent buttons to your keyboard.

I seem to have lost control of my Xbox controllers in BigBox
neil9000 replied to Rexnebular's topic in Troubleshooting
Launchbox has absolutely zero to do with your controls in MAME, if your controls are broken in MAME, you need to fix them in MAME. As for navigation in Launchbox use a keyboard to alter what you need, or simply delete the inputbindings.xml in Launchbox/Data when Launchbox is closed and it will generate the default file when you next start Launchbox. -
Xbox Elite 2 Controller | Joysticks not working with LauncBox
neil9000 replied to eraserhead3k's topic in Troubleshooting
OK, well that is nothing to do with Launchbox as we do not do anything at all with emulators other than start them. To your issue though, most emulators will not use analogue sticks by default as most systems didn't have any prior to the N64/PS1 era, so they are dpad only. Some emulators will let you use the stick, but it will just act like a dpad so isn't worth it in my opinion, dpad games should be played with a dpad. Retroarch specifically has a setting to mimic the dpad on a left stick that you can enable in its controller settings. -
Oh i'm not saying it cant be optimised, and as i said i'm in no way speaking for Jason here, just to the realities of running a OS and a image/database intensive program on such little RAM, there are of course going to be hard limits at some stage.
-
While i can't speak for Jason, but that's a pretty tall ask i feel. When you are throwing around multiple image types and possibly videos, while also having to actually run the underlying OS, then 2GB of RAM runs out real quick.

Lost Your LaunchBox Premium or LaunchBox for Android License? (launchbox-app.com)

The message clearly states that additional apps will not be copied, so that is obviously intended behaviour, and is how it has always been, it's not a issue with the 12.2 beta.

Keyboard shortcut to access Service Menu while in game
neil9000 replied to Bo Sturdivant's topic in Noobs
Those are emulator settings and are done inside of the emulator itself, in this case MAME and via the TAB menu, these are not handled by Launchbox at all. The keyboard mappings you see in Launchbox are for Launchbox itself, all emulators need their own settings and controls setup separately. -
installer rollback failed. Does LB support repair installing?
neil9000 replied to breech's topic in Troubleshooting
We dont use the registry, Launchbox is a completely portable app. There is nothing wrong with the updater, and the installer files in the Update folder are exactly what the updater runs when updating, its just automatic rather than you triggering it manually. There is zero reason to sit there with a broken setup, when simply running the installer will fix your issue, but entirely your choice.
