Well games do "have to load". are you saying they don't?

To be fair i have never launched MAME without the controller on as i am launching from bigbox and am using the controller for that. Why would you start MAME without a controller on?

Im using MAMEUI myself, no issues. Drop this in your Cfg folder. default.cfg

The only way it will disapear is if you delete the "default" config here.

There is no secret just set it in the tab menu i showed you, set it as general then "this machine" for any game you want different than default.

I call BS on that, it's just misconfiguration as far as im concerned.

Yep, i have a xbox 360, xbox one and a gamesir g4s no issues here either.

well im using 0.184 mameui and full rom and chd set and mine is just fine.

Yep, i use wireless controllers and cant say i have ever had it "just disapear"

That is a issue i have never seen before personally, You need to set the controls in input general.

Hi, launch a mame game then hit the tab key and set your controller there. You can set it as a general which i recommend or as a setup for that particular game.

I don't want to lock or delete a thread, ever, but when it starts to descend into a back and forth, you said this, i said that it is very tempting to do so. I am going to leave this here for the time being, but if i see any more targeted dig's and jibes i will lock it in a heartbeat.

@syntax_X People here are being very patient with you and are trying to help you with simple recommendations, no one is having a dig or glossing over any perceived limitations in the software, all anyone has done is offer you friendly advice. But if you keep up with the frankly more and more aggressive attitude i will have no option than to lock this thread, before it descends into a slanging match.

lol, yeah i have seen that video before, crazy. It's probably just my gaming trajectory cause i never had a pc until early to mid 2000's, i actually had to learn how to play half-life and deus ex as i had never actually used a mouse before at that point. But i had been using controllers since the nes, so that was second nature to me. Horses for courses though, and options is always a good thing.

lol. OK no point asking you then. I actually can and do use both, but if a FPS is properly designed to use a controller i am more than happy to use it. Obviously a mouse and keyboard is more precise when sitting at a desk, but i am on a couch about 6 foot from the screen and using m/k there is a bit of a faff and not very comfortable. Also i played FPS's on consoles before i ever played one on PC so i am very comfortable with it. Although i am one of those "inverted aim people".
