Wow, I'll give it a try! Thanks Joe!

Thanks for Beta 3! Quick report: Help > Report Issue: works perfectly now. Sign-in goes through and opens right away. Thanks! “Saving games” delay: fixed. The first import now goes straight through with no stall. The attached debug log shows the finish phase taking super fast! Import target platform: still intermittent. When I drag & drop ROMs onto a custom platform, the wizard defaults to the “Scrape As” platform instead. For example, Nintendo Famicom (KR) → Nintendo Entertainment System, and Nintendo Super Famicom [xmas Set] → Super Nintendo Entertainment System. What I’ve found so far: Title/Scrape As, platform details, game folders and emulator associations are set up the same way on working and failing platforms. Filling in all the platform details made no difference. Disc-based custom platforms (PS (KR), PS2 (KR), Dreamcast (JP)) have always kept the custom name. I tested .m3u, .gdi, .chd, .cue and .bin on Dreamcast (JP). It seems to be stateful. Today, Super Famicom [xmas Set] kept defaulting to SNES. Then I dropped a zipped .sfc onto it, and it correctly showed [xmas Set]. After that, the plain .sfc also showed [xmas Set], even after restarting LaunchBox. I cancelled these imports, so nothing was actually imported. I’ve seen it fix itself like this before and then go back to the “Scrape As” platform later, so I expect it to come back. It feels like the wizard remembers a previous platform choice somewhere and uses that over the platform I dropped onto. The debug log doesn’t seem to show how the default target is picked, so a log line there in the next beta would help. I’ll send a log when it reverts again. Alternate Names “file in use” error: still there, with a pattern. It only appears once per Edit Game window. If I keep the window open and move to the next game with the arrows, it doesn’t appear again until I close and reopen the window. It’s also intermittent, even within the same platform. I’ll send a log the next time it happens. One small note on my earlier suggestions: I use Alternate Names a lot because many of my games have Japanese/Korean titles. A smoother Enter → “Set Selected Name as Title” flow and Next/Previous shortcuts in Edit Game would really help non-English libraries. Just sharing the use case. Thanks again! I think your latest finding is exactly my issue. My ROMs are on an internal HDD (F:), and LaunchBox runs from an SSD (J:). Imports used to be fast on this same drive, so it seems to be a change in LaunchBox, not the drive. Matching is fast. Only “Saving Games” is slow, and only on the first import after opening LaunchBox. Automatic imports are off for my platforms (only storefronts are on), so this happens with manual drag & drop imports. Combine ROMs is off when importing. My library is about 70k games across many custom regional platforms, so a cold check of every game path on a spinning drive would explain 2–5 minutes. I’ll test Beta 3 and report back with logs!

Ah, sorry for the confusion! What I meant was Help > Report Issue inside LaunchBox. It asks me to sign in with my Unbroken account. I follow the popup and sign in through the browser, and the browser says it’s complete and I can close the tab. But back in LaunchBox, nothing changes. it’s still asking me to sign in. Clicking the Reload button at the bottom doesn’t do anything either. Thanks for sharing the feedback site link though, I’ll use that from now on! Joe’s suggestion pointed me in an interesting direction. Whenever I imported PS1 ROMs, LaunchBox warned that a few BIOS files were missing, and I always skipped it since games ran fine anyway. Once I resolved all the missing BIOS files, the popup stopped appearing, and for a while the target platform was preserved correctly on all my custom platforms. Oddly, when I removed the PS BIOS from RetroArch’s /system folder again to test, LaunchBox didn’t ask about the BIOS anymore, even after restarting, and the import still behaved correctly. However, I spoke too soon. Shortly after, my Famicom (KR) platform started defaulting to Nintendo Entertainment System again. So the BIOS fix may have been a coincidence, or it only affects some platforms. It seems intermittent rather than tied to one specific platform. As for when it last worked reliably, I can’t pin it to a specific version, sorry. I’ve included a Famicom (KR) drag & drop import in the debug logs below, in case that helps. Here are the debug logs. In this session I reproduced the following: The first-import “Saving Game” delay, which took 4 minutes 33 seconds this time (timed with a stopwatch). The media download finished around 2:06 PM, right after the delay ended. A drag & drop import into Nintendo Famicom (KR), where the Import Wizard defaulted the target platform to Nintendo Entertainment System The Alternate Names file access error Hopefully they cover all three issues. @JoeViking245 Quick follow-up: I spoke too soon. My Nintendo Famicom (KR) now defaults to Nintendo Entertainment System again, so the BIOS thing may have been a coincidence. Thanks again for looking into it! Debug 2026-10-09 01-59-57 PM.log

Thanks for the tip, Joe! I dug into it and I think I found what was actually going on. Whenever I imported PS1 ROMs, import wizard window showed a page saying a few BIOS files were missing. Since everything ran fine anyway, I always just skipped it. This time I sorted out all the missing BIOS files. The popup stopped appearing, and suddenly the target platform is preserved correctly on every custom platform, including Game Boy Advance (JP). That’s the only thing I changed. Looking back, the issue seems to have started around the time LaunchBox began asking about BIOS files, rather than with a specific version, so I suspect the two are related. One more odd thing: as a test, I removed the PS BIOS from RetroArch’s system folder again. This time LaunchBox didn’t ask about the BIOS at all, even after restarting the app, and the target platform still works correctly everywhere. So I’m honestly a bit confused, but it definitely looks connected to the BIOS check somehow. Ha! I’ve had it take 2 minutes too, but sometimes it genuinely goes past 5 minutes! 😄

Hello, First off, I want to say a huge thank you toUnbroken Software team for the incredible work on LaunchBox 14! The new features and updates in this version have been fantastic to use. Since the formal bug submission form is currently closed, I wanted to share a few bugs and UI suggestions I’ve run into while using LaunchBox 14 Beta 2. Hopefully, this feedback is helpful for the upcoming polish! 🐞 Bug Reports 1. Inconsistent Target Platform Behavior During Import When dragging and dropping ROMs into a custom-titled platform (for example, Nintendo Game Boy Advance (JP)), the Import Wizard often defaults the target platform to the "Scrape As" title instead of maintaining the custom platform name. This requires manually changing it back every time. Interestingly, this doesn't happen across all custom platforms—for instance, 'Play Station (KR)' retains its custom title without any issue. In earlier versions, target platforms were consistently preserved during drag-and-drop imports. 2. Long Delay ("Saving Game") on First Import Batch Per Session (Present since v14.0) Whenever I launch LaunchBox and run my first ROM import batch, it takes around 5 to 10 minutes to finish right before the media download stage starts. The status bar at the bottom right gets stuck animating "Saving Game." Once that initial import finishes, all subsequent imports within the same session complete quickly without delay. However, restarting LaunchBox brings back the delay on the next first import. 3. File Access Error in Edit Game > Alternate Names (Present since v13.x) After modifying or adding an entry under Edit Game > Alternate Names and clicking OK, the following error pops up: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. 💡 Suggestions & UI Improvements 1. Smoother Workflow in Alternate Names Field When typing a name in Edit Game > Alternate Names and pressing Enter, it inserts a line break. To click 'Set Selected Name as Title', you currently have to press the Up Arrow key to return the cursor to the text line. It would feel much smoother if pressing Enter completed the entry and automatically highlighted the Set Selected Name as Title option for quick activation. 2. Keyboard Shortcuts for Game Editing Navigation When processing multiple games sequentially, having keyboard shortcuts inside the Edit Game window would be a huge quality-of-life upgrade. A shortcut (e.g., Shift + Arrow Keys) to move to the Next/Previous game. A dedicated shortcut for 'Set Selected Name as Title' as well. 3. Move "LaunchBox DB ID" Column in Audit Window In the Audit Window, the LaunchBox Games Database ID column is currently located on the far right. Moving it to the far left by default (right next to the Title column, similar to the layout in the Edit Game window) would make scanning database matches much easier. Thanks again to the team for all the hard work! Looking forward to the stable release.

still the same for me too. I cleared cache as well in ThirdParty - Chromium Cache folder as someone mentioned but no luck.

Hello Mate, I hear your frustration. I'm still waiting this to happen on LaunchBox. Someday.. https://forums.launchbox-app.com/topic/62701-colorful-light-theme-community-theme-creator-version-need-testers/?do=findComment&comment=393340

Please add this.

It was successful to convert all bezels. For MAME arcade bezels, is there any simple way to separate vertical/horizontal bezels within XnViewMP? I had to manually select over thousands of bezels..

Thank you so much!

Hi, I've always wanted bezels without TV Frame and found this link: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/24169/bezel-project-without-tv-frame https://github.com/dale-personal/bezelproject-NES Is there any way to apply this to LB?

Oh, for a second, I thought Platform-specific views as platform-specific arrange list view... It would be nice if I could sort by 'title' in Nintendo 64, sort by 'year' in NEC TurboGrafx-16 and sort by 'date added' in Microsoft Game Pass.

I love your theme and especially "Horizontal Wheel Games View". It has perfect art size for both monitor and 4k TV and any proportioned box art look beautiful: from square type (PlayStation1) to complicated box arts ( horizontal+vertical box of SNES). The video preview loads faster than any other themes I've used... There are so many details I like about your theme. Would you mind sharing [Theme Workshop]? If it's a lot of work, at least your HorizontalWheelGamesView 1 and 2 ? This will help me build solid horizontal wheel for project I'm working on. It'd be very appreciate it. Muchas Gracias!

I know it's inappropriate to post requests but would you mind checking these out? (Yes, I already submitted on bitbucket..) 1. Sort/Arrange by.. PER each Category and playlist 2. EDIT Metadata/Media (Ctrl+e) UI Enhancement Footer for quick drag&drop image edit (front -box) on main page Drag and Drop support STRAIGHT from Web Browser NEXT+PREVIOUS Buttons to navigate to another game without closing window Navigation Keyboard Support (ctrl+I to move to images, delete key to delete image, up,down, left, right arrows) "Control + i" should popup and go to images in edit game directly (instead of image view) 3. Auto Populate algorithm

So glad to know that you're working on it! Yes, Super Famicom is SNES Classic edition and I found some reference for you. And this might give you an idea for background and other details: https://github.com/ruckage/es-theme-snes-mini https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/12583/snes-mini-theme No pressure here but if you are updating to next level, video preview option would be wonderful!!!! (and game detail lower third graphic by pressing direction up or down) Thank you for an awesome theme!

@exodus_cl I think your theme is still the best for classic console series. Would you do more Japanese versions such as Famicom mini, NEC PC-Engine Mini and Super Famicom mini? I'd love to show you an example for future reference. It would be great to have: 1. Mini Snap: mini video preview 2. Game detailed info: by pressing down or up button (since Bigbox default down is search) 3. Background Music Off: so that you could hear video preview music instead.

@faeran I have been watching your theme workshop and I can't wait to see new beta for colorful theme as I'm one of fan for colorful theme for aesthetics, spacing and transition. However, one thing I'd love to see an improvement on colorful is the "speed". When there are thousands of collection, we need at least 1 detailed view for faster preview for video, box art and screenshots. Please see video: 2021-10-09_Untitled.mp4 You can see how video preview loads in less than about 1 second. This was possible on Quad Core 1.5GHZ CPU (RK3326) running on SD card. I'm running Bigbox on i7-6700K @ 4.00GHz with samsung 850 EVO SSD (only Launchbox and Retroarch) with 32GB RAM and RTX 3080 Ti. But I haven't found one theme (out of 44 themes I've downloaded from Bigbox and forum) that could load video preview faster than this weak CPU device. Would this be possible and could you consider implement into colorful theme? Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.

Auto Populate Playlist don't work with more than one condition?
xmas replied to Tomkun's topic in Troubleshooting
1. I guess we still need "AND" daisy chain multiple fields as they are common for creating smart list..(such as iTunes) I was trying to modify Cave playlist since it's missing some of games. Play list default shows as following: and it shows these game list: But if I try to add another field with source containing "cave" it will only show 5 list since it doesn't sum up both field that matches. This is problem because when I show sources only instead of publisher (default) it will show different game list. If "Cave" is auto-populating the game list, it should show all games that include both published AND source code used by cave. Therefore, fields should have "ANY" or "AND" style to accomplish full list. I found this works 100% perfect with iTunes smart playlist: EX) When I click "all", it won't show The Beatles songs but if I click "any" it will include Beatles and John Lennon, etc. -

@viking Thanks for quick response. It's good to know Faeran is working on an update! In the mean time, I'll test and post here if I find out anything. Another thing that I want to mention is the transition color difference. I found out this so far: 1. you can delete "LaunchBox\Themes\COLORFUL - Dark\Plugins\Ao.Bigbox.Themer.v3_9_7a\AssemblyConfig\Ao.Bigbox.Themer.v3_9_7a-Colors.dll.config" and just keep this only "LaunchBox\Themes\COLORFUL - Light\Views\Styles\COLORFUL_Styles.xaml" 2. The major issue was on playlists (not the platforms) because of unique name and nested name difference. You should change to UNIQUE name in COLORFUL_Styles.xaml. For example- "Arcade 2-Player Games" (Unique name) instead of "2-Player Games" (Nested Name). I believe this will solve the problems that most of people had because it will apply to default color that you have set for videos. 3. I learned that "&" gives an error so any custom plaftform name including "&" should be replaced to "_" Viking, I'm trying to match the color of custom video to background but it's not the same. Could you tell me the best way to find color picker # from screenshot? I tried to do in photoshop and other editor but it's always slightly different. I think I read that you have mentioned before but I can't find the post. Thanks again!
