Lordmonkus Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Gotta have some Zakk Wylde pre Black Label Society but post Ozzy up in here. Looking like a skinny hippy boy rather than the burly biker of today lol. 1 Quote
Zombeaver Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 @Thordelan Perturbator and Carpenter Brut are some of the "heavier" bands in the genre - sometimes referred to as "Darkwave". For similar stuff I'd recommend Dan Terminus and Gost: For a metal/dubstep hybrid, have you ever listened to any Celldweller? Quote
Lordmonkus Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 It's not new but I only came across it tonight modding up Doom. The homepage has download links for either individual tracks or a torrent for the 2 cd set http://doom.ocremix.org/main.html 1 Quote
Thordelan Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 @Zombeaver Thanks, they sound pretty good as well, though I prefer the 2 other ones from what I've listened for now. I'll check some other songs anyway Celldweller seems pretty good aswell, pretty sure I'll like the other songs Here is one song I really love, by Vector Hold, it's been used for the trailer of the game Power Drive 2000 I'm not that much into racing games but it makes me want to try it out Quote
Zombeaver Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 I'm probably completely alone on this one, but I've really gotten into the Dark Ambient genre within the last couple years. This is the kind of thing that obviously doesn't have very broad appeal but what I really enjoy about it is the sonic storytelling at work. This kind of stuff, when it's at its best, can really transport you somewhere else. Put on some good headphones, close your eyes, and just let your imagination take over. Quote
VACRMH Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Dark Ambient is great, perfect with headphones. I've been listening to a lot of Coil lately. A friend of mine makes dark ambient, usually mixed with rhythmic noise, check him out. https://wormsoftheearth.bandcamp.com/ Quote
Zombeaver Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Cool, I'll check it out! I've dabbled in a bit of it myself. This was a track I made for a Pathfinder (basically a D&D 3.5 variant) campaign some friends and I played on Roll20. Quote
Lordmonkus Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 Looking for some killer psychedelic stoner rock with a bit of a twist ? And by twist I mean one hell of a female vocalist that actually knows how to sing then you gotta check this badassery out. 1 Quote
DOS76 Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 (edited) I heard this yesterday in my pops car on the member sponsored radio station he likes (I usually despise radio personally (or at least to listening to it long enough to start hearing them repeat their rotation)) I thought the song was awesome because it has like the feel of a southern hymn but lyrics about being an alcoholic which I found to be pretty cool. I like when I musician will use a genre but has lyrics that are nothing like what you would expect from the music. Edited August 27, 2016 by DOS76 1 Quote
