Game Overlay/Bezel for Dolphin Emulator

So I've been doing a lot of fooling around in Retroarch lately, and I've finally been able to figure out how bezels work (for platforms and individual games), along with auto save states for some games I don't have time to do in one play through (Sonic on Genesis for example). I'm really loving that I can have overlays for 4:3 games on my 16:9 monitor. I have Dolphin configured per game, so some games are 4:3 while others are 16:9, all depending on how the extra space gets drawn (or doesn't in some cases). I wanted to see if anyone knew of a way to configure overlays in Dolphin. For the life of me, I can't figure it out. So any help would be fantastic.

I actually didn't know there was a dolphin core for RetroArch. I just meant the standalone Dolphin emulator.

I'm not too familiar with RocketLauncher, I thought it was more of a LB/BB alternative. But I've also seen some tutorials about using LB with RL symbiotically. Does launching via RocketLauncher give you the ability to launch with an overlay?

Yes, but the time and energy it takes to configure doesn't make it worth it for me in my mind. If that one feature is desired enough to go through the trouble, then sure go for it. Support will be a bit more limited though, because most of us aren't using RL, so we can't speak on how to fix or deal with it. It used to be a much bigger deal for people, then slowly RL's unique feature set grew smaller and smaller as LaunchBox updated and added more or alternate features. From what I can read, RL may not have been updated in a while too, so some of the LB changes may confuse it. Again though, I'm not exactly sure and that could have been fixed.

I too am trying to figure out if the stand alone Dolphin emulator supports bezels; specifically for my GameCube collection. After looking all through the Dolphin settings last night, I have come to the conclusion that it does not support bezels natively. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Not natively no, only if you use rocketlauncher can dolphin have a bezel around it.

I have configured as required in dolphin :

 

  • Config Interface uncheck “Pause on Focus Loss” (to prevent auto pause/resume in pause menu)
  • Graphics Advanced check "Crop" (works better w/bezels as some games not true 4x3)
  • Graphics General check "Render to Main Window" (otherwise cannot capture emu window)

Do you have any idea why it is not working?
