I deleted all files (wow....it also deletes all the roms, not only the metafiles) and started over again and choose Arcade as import.
There's an option that you would have had to specifically tell it "Yes" to delete them. It was probably hidden in amongst all the words in the warning message.
By default, LaunchBox will not delete any game/ROM files.
Glad you were able to get them installed.

Rename the games Title to just "Space Invaders" (not 'Space Invaders / Space Invaders M') then to the right of that click Search for Metadata.

First, thanks for the fast reply. You're right that this does fix the problem, although it is a bit "ugly" since it flashes the screen with a command window and then goes back to fullscreen quickly thereafter. So it works, but it's not ideal. I'm going to leave this thread unanswered for a bit just in case someone else can chime in with what the actual problem might be so I can avoid this workaround fix. But if no one else chimes in, I'll mark this as answered with this hack. Thanks so much either way!
Yeah. I indicated it would be. lol
So a quick search came up with this solution:
-
In Windows Explorer, navigate to:
- \PPSSPP\memstick\PSP\SYSTEM\ppsspp.ini
- Edit ppsspp.ini
- Look for FullScreenMulti
- Set it to True
- Save and close the file
- Remove that crap I said to add to the Resume Script

In Windows Explorer, navigate to:

Hi there! I am having a Big Box issue. When I launch a PPSSPP game through Big Box, the game launches as expected, entering fullscreen mode automatically. When I hit my mapped controller input to launch Big Box's Pause screen, the Pause screen comes up as expected, too. However, when I then choose to resume the game, PPSSPP inexplicably exits fullscreen mode.
Without digging into the issue too deeply... This may be a bit cheesy, a little crude, but a quick and easy resolve:
- In LaunchBox, Edit your PPSSPP emulator
-
Go to the Resume Script section and add the following
- Send !{Enter 2}
- Click OK to save and close
- Play games
You may see a slight flicker when resuming as it switches [back] to full screen.

Hello,
fairly new to MAME and LB but it's almost looking and working like I like it.
However: LB does not show the artwork of a lot of games, see attached pictures.
What I did: followed online tutorials about installing LB, searching this forum for a simular question, re-downloading the media within LB, all no succes.
May-be the games that do not show the artwork have something in common which might be the cause?MAME is for Arcade games. Appears you had imported them into the Windows platform (vs the typical Arcade platform).
By default, LaunchBox sets the metadata/media scraping for Windows platform to Windows [PC Games].
If you wish to keep your Arcade games in the "Windows" platform, edit the platform and set the Scrape-As value to "Arcade" and re-scrape the metadata/media.
A more prudent approach could/would/should be to remove all the MAME (Arcade) games from the Windows platform and then [re]import your MAME ROMs into the Platform "Arcade". Then when you download images, you'll get the ones for Arcade games and not PC Games.

When I click on Play I see a waiting round Windows circle for a moment but nothing happens next.
I.e.Frogger. Now....It DOES work when being runned directly within MAME itself {out of LB so to say}
I checked my Emulator settings but that looks ok.
Also, when I right click on the game and say: Run with -> MAME64, same result.
Any thoughts?I'm fairly certain your "mame64.exe" is from an older version of MAME. Being older is not the issue (and nothing to be concerned with).
However, having the command-line parameter -keyboardprovider dinput would be an issue with older versions.
Edit your MAME64 emulator ('Edit/Bewerken' from screenshot above) and try removing that and see if it [now] works.

I bought the drive pre configured. Whats the directory for the Game Logos? I'll have a look. If I dont have them where exactly can they be downloaded from ?
Asked and answered in the previous 2 posts. If you are unable to locate them there, you will need to contact your vendor regarding how they setup your pre-configured drive. [Further] support for pre-configured drives will not be given here.

So when I exit a game (PC) it says "game over" and goes back to the menu but the audio for the game is still playing. If I go to Windows I see MAME is minimized and still running, it is not exiting. How to fix?
I trust you're talking about stand-alone MAME (vs (MAME through RetroArch).
In LaunchBox, can you edit your MAME emulator share some screenshots.
- Main Details screen
- Associated Platforms screen
- Running Script screen
Also, how are you [attempting to] exit the game? Controller (binding to Close Active Window)? Keyboard (Escape)?
Does this only happen in BigBox? Or does the same thing happen in LaunchBox as well?

No.... they are a series. As in, They exist BECAUSE of the metadata series. I never set up a playlist, platform, or platform category.
Apologies. I guess I never paid attention to notice that a series could be visually displayed somewhere where an icon could [possibly] be shown. Honestly, I never look at those myself, so assumed it'd fall under one of the forementioned 3.

Just curious if this is possible
Your series are going to be either a Platform, Playlist or a Platform Category (depending on how you imported/set them up).
So with your premium license, you can add custom icons for them. They'll go in (respectively):
- \LaunchBox\Images\Platform Icons\Platforms\
- \LaunchBox\Images\Platform Icons\Playlists\
- \LaunchBox\Images\Platform Icons\Platform Categories\
-
Don't look in the cache folder.
Look in the actual /LaunchBox/Images/[name of platform you want]/Clear Logo/ folder.

still shows when launching LB
If it's showing when LaunchBox is first being started (aka when 1st launched/loaded), I'd say LaunchBox is [still] attempting to load an eXo ('exodos stuff') remnant.
Assuming you're starting it via LaunchBox.exe (vs. a batch file or script), look in Tools < Options < Startup Applications and see if there's anything eXo related. If there's nothing in there, I'd next look in the /LaunchBox/Plugins/ folder. Not sure exactly what would be 'eXo' there. But those 2 locations should/would be the only places LB would start something extracurricular (aside from a batch file or a script that starts LB).

How Rude.
1 hour ago, Jayinem said:I just didn't know if RPCS3 was loading them when a game is lauching from Launchbox. This is a Launchbox forum I obviously don't want to load the game through RPCS3 I want to load the game through Launchbox.
We have no idea if you had done any research (i.e. Just Google It) prior to your posting. There was also no indication you had any inclining of how to create per-game configs. You didn't note that you had them set up already and just wasn't sure if they were actually loading or not.
The answer @skizzosjt gave seemed to me that once you save it to the game, it'll load with that game automatically. Had it been known that your intent was somehow verify they were indeed being loaded, I suspect the answer would have been different.
1 hour ago, Jayinem said:This thread feels dead to me no one really posts here I'm like the only one asking for help with anything and now I'm starting to get "just google it" answers. Almost feels like why would you even ask for help with an AHK script in an AHK script thread. The guy I'm quoting was guilty of that too just google it
The guy you quoted (me) offered you up to "just Google it" because as expressed, I don't use that emulator.
As mentioned, you weren't as specific in your original question as you were in your rebuttal. We can only respond to you based on the information provided.
A possible resulting outcome of your initial query would be for me to 'just Google it' (most likely using the tips provided), figure out how to get it to work and then "just give you the answer" [for something I'll never use myself]. The answer being, either set the config in the emulator, add the appropriate command-line parameter(s) if applicable or [last resort] devise a script that will run the emulator with command-line parameters.
But I really didn't have an interest in learning that, thus provided the tools that I'd have used to help you in your quest.
If you hadn't have quoted (tagged) me, I wouldn't have responded because I didn't know the answer. Then quite possibly, instead of anyone/everyone waiting for me to respond, a response may have come sooner. More back-and-forth details could have been exchanged and a communal resolution developed for you and future readers. (BTW was out of town the last week, so a later response than my typical)

Sounds like you may have found your answer. Good to hear.

Don't flame me I'm late to the party., Tried to plugin. Every time i change an image on say monitor 1 or 3. It changes it to every monitor. No matter what i do to try and make separate selections. One change is global on all the monitors in the plugin> is there something I'm missing or a newer version or revision available.
If it's displaying the same image on all monitors, you probably have your Windows Display Settings - Multiple Displays set to Duplicate These Displays. Try changing that to Extend These Displays.
If that doesn't fix it, you could try one of a couple other plugins that haven't been abandoned.
Though not specific to just Game Controls, there's the successor to this plugin.
Another option that provides settings to allow doing the same thing (and more) is Third Screen.

@JoeViking245 in RPCS3 how do I have a ahk script that runs a custom configuration for an individual game? I think this was covered somewhere in this thread but it's a long thread.
Wouldn't you instead use command-line parameters to load a custom config? I don't really use that emulator and would have to look it up if it's even possible. But I'll let you practice your Googling.
Pro tip, At the top of this thread, if you type something in the Search box, the default search location is "This Topic". That should narrow things down.
Pro tip #2, instead of searching the 'regular' Forums, you can Google "LaunchBox what_you're_looking_for". i.e. LaunchBox RPCS3 ahk script

What I am saying is that Launchbox could easily have Videos on their downloads, yet don't
This is because they struck a deal with each other, EmuMovies knowing that if they did have them they would be finished.
While I love EmuMovies (I am a member) imo it could do a lot more and if it's not willing to then let the Launchbox community step up and fill in the gaps.
As for copywrite, are you saying the 1,000's of Switch videos EmuMovies have already are all legal ?
Even Nintendo and other companies can't be that petty about video recordings (there are millions on Youtube already)
Also the quality issue is also something EmuMovies do not follow as many of their videos are woeful quality (but better than nothing)
My guess is that upon inception, LaunchBox's intent was to make use of an existing already-available resource for video clips (EmuMovies). As you know, media takes up a lot of real-estate (drive space). Especially videos. But also, the curation was already there (or at least started [and is growing]). So instead of creating a duplicative effort, utilize something that already exists. My guess.
For filling in the gaps on EmuMovies, I thought they already had a place for user (LaunchBox users, or otherwise) submissions. Or are you thinking something like - when videos are uploaded to the LaunchBox Downloads section, they should be sent to the EmuMovies site as well?
My use of "copywrite" was probably not the right choice of words. My intent was for attaining material from somewhere, with that source's approval... and on-up-the-chain. Which lends towards "and legal ease involved that's beyond of my paygrade."
I can't attest to the quality assurance requirements EmuMovies has. But I think you're right in that it's better than nothing. And I can't not believe that it's a fill-in-the-gap for now, and update/upgrade the asset(s) later.

Yes but as we can see it's not importing the preliminary games for mame which are marked working in official MAME.
Did some checking (as morbid curiosity got to me
).
Why would MAME list a games Overall Status as Preliminary when at the same time they list its Emulation as Good?
To start, I got the current list of everything MAME (v0.271) via the command line mame.exe -listxml >listxml.xml.
I parse the output file (listxml.xml) for games listed as Overall Preliminary, and Emulation Good. This gave 889 ROMs.
After then removing the Mechanical machines (mainly Pinball) and Softlists, this left 368 Arcade Machines.
My findings about the remaining 368:
Though the Emulation aspect of "Overall" may be "Good", it can still have "Imperfect" [or worse] "Unemulated" Sound and/or Graphics. "Graphics", not to be confused with "Palette" which pertains to colors.
To have some semblance of the gameplay being enjoyable, I want to remove ones that have no sound and/or imperfect protection (ROM wasn't completely 'cracked' [creating an array of gameplay issues not covered elsewhere]) and imperfect timing. This left 89 ROMs.
To have it at least somewhat visually pleasing, from those remaining, I removed ones that have an imperfect or unemulated palette (aka, the colors [if any] look like crap). This left 0 ROMs.In summary, Arcade Machines that are deemed by MAME as having the Status Overall - Preliminary and Emulation - Good, have one or more of the following issues:- Its "Mechanical" (You can emulate it in MAME. But you can't play it.)
- It's a Software List item (aka, a non-Arcade game or system)
- Its sound is unemulated
- Its color palette is either unemulated or imperfect (wonky or no colorization)
- Its protection is imperfect (You can emulate it in MAME, will have random adverse effects during gameplay)
- Its timing is imperfect (will either run too slow, too fast or sporadically [is my guess])
Again, this was just for my own curiosity. It seemed weird that MAME would list a game as Preliminary even though its emulation was good. And now, I know "the rest of the story". (And to me, makes sense)

Launchbox hasn't done the community any favours by doing a deal with EmuMovies NOT to have videos on their downloads.
LaunchBox doesn't require you to make use the EmuMovies optional service. Making use of EmuMovies API to download videos is indeed inherent to the LaunchBox program. As is the utilization of the API's from several storefronts and RetroAchievements.
And of course they're not doing any favors. Rather offering a viable solution.
3 hours ago, zugswang said:Maybe it's time for a rethink ?
I'm sure Unbroken Software would be open to any suggestions you may have regarding an alternate service that can reliably offer downloadable [non copywrite] videos and manuals [and images]. The service would of course need to be accessible to LaunchBox via [something like] an API. There are probably some other pertinent requirements (i.e. proven consistency and quality) and legal ease involved that's beyond of my paygrade.
I don't think there'd be a source that can make available attainable media that would cover all games (obviously). But would love to hear options. I'm sure LaunchBox staff would be intrigued and [if nothing else] myself (a non-staffer) and other non-staffers might be enticed enough to create a plugin to accommodate that source.

How about adding a preliminary check box when importing?
Well, they kind of already do. It's just called something a little different. Skip games unplayable in MAME.
Take for example Daytona USA 2: Battle on the Edge (daytona2). That games overall status is Preliminary. But you will never be able to play it in MAME. Supermodel3 emulator, yeah. But not MAME.

Well I use mame exe but say using arcade64 it's marked yellow. Not sure about mameui.
Different forks process the ROMs (and emulate) differently. So maybe they do seem to work better in them, or they're not as particular as the Official branch of MAME (which is what LaunchBox defers to).
The good news is ROMs that, for whatever reason don't import, you can easily drag and drop those "just a couple" of ROMs right onto LaunchBox and import them that way.

So, that is the process that I have tried doing and none of the joysticks are registering any movements within BigBox or Launchbox when I try to map.
Did you try checking Use All Attached Controllers?
Something in the back of head says 'restart LaunchBox after enabling the controllers'. (or was it after doing something else? Regardless, worth trying that as well.)

kov and kovplus. Both are parent roms and marked working.
Because of being preliminary?
How about change the way it imports. It's either marked working or not. Not in between. Just how MAME does it.
LaunchBox's basis for what's considered playable/un-playable comes direct from MAMEs Overall status. Not any of the subsets (emulation, graphics, color etc.).
If it's red (i.e. kov and kovplus), it doesn't get imported (unless of course certain filters are un-checked).
If it's yellow (i.e. kov2p) or green (i.e. kov2nl), it will get imported.

Correct. BigBox is not setup to manage your games. Just looks pretty and plays games.
