For some reason I thought I'd seen a discussion around this on here but only seem to be able to find reference to the lists from Arcade Controls and MAME For me, that All Killer list is a godsend - there is so much 'junk' and just being able to load something that you know is good makes things like game randomizer etc actually useful But that is for arcade only... Has anyone made playlists for their other systems that are All Killer? Even just the "classics" would be useful - Nes, SNes, Genesis etc

Oh I had a few TTX games set up in the old setup and they worked okay, but yeah, they were a pain to set up! Good to know there is a better method now!
-
Thanks, will look into it tho seems more difficult to find the software My machine isn't top notch tho. I do have an Nvidia graphics card but it's pretty old!

Thanks! Never heard of RetroParrot so will have to look into that!

Future Pinball Loader for Launchbox
vaderag replied to JaysArcade's topic in Third-Party Applications and Plugins (Released)
Thanks both, that's a nice distillation of what I was seeing I think! I'm very much in the casual capacity so looks over physics (so long as physics are close!) I'd be just as happy playing Sonic Pinball as the classic Adams Family table, so I think I've made the Future Pinball choice at least somewhat wisely for now... -
Future Pinball Loader for Launchbox
vaderag replied to JaysArcade's topic in Third-Party Applications and Plugins (Released)
Wow, thank you so much! I'll take a good look at this over the weekend (kids permitting) and see what I can get going! I might have bitten more than I can chew as have a "full set" which I was going to try import, maybe I'll start small tho as you suggest! One other question, I picked Future as from what I've seen it "looks better" than Visual Pinball, but have I made the right choice? It seems most tables are in both? -
I'm rebuilding my arcade machine as, well, frankly I got away from it's key purpose of playing arcade games... as part of this I'm stripping things right back and only putting true arcade games on there (plus Pinball) This is starting with Mame and that's relatively clear, but I recall some arcade systems don't work or aren't covered by Mame. I know this is the case with the Sega Model 3 (possibly 2?) but I also recall back in the day there being other machines which either don't work or aren't part of the Mame set Can anyone give me a bit of clarity on what these are? Thanks!

Future Pinball Loader for Launchbox
vaderag replied to JaysArcade's topic in Third-Party Applications and Plugins (Released)
Hi All, I'm just getting into Future Pinball and wondering if anyone has a super n00bs setup guide explaining things? It seems it's reasonably easy to add to Launchbox now, but is there a simple way/place to get images vids etc? When do I need to use FP Launcher vs Future Pinball.exe? What's a BAM? I'm looking for a starter guide to everything Future Pinball as well as a how to get into Launchbox... Thanks! -
Thanks, does that include the general controls as well (i.e. not machine specific and UI)
-
Where does MAME store the control configs if I wanted to transfer that between setups?
-
Ah, that would explain it! Also I used to get a no nag version back in the day - is that still a thing?
-
Not a n00b but just resetting up and realised I have the 32 bit version of the latest mame where as I've used 64bit in the past... Which begs the question, is there much benefit to using the 64 bit version?
-
I'd like this as well. For example, my big box setup runs an arcade machine, I only want it to show arcade (and pinball) categories in big box. However, if I'm using Launchbox I can use a keyboard and mouse, so I would like my windows games in Launchbox but not in big box

Well, I upgraded the ram. I now have 7gb (was supposed to be 8 but one stick was faulty...) It's still slow I see some improvement, and the default theme works fine except when the videos are on. Seems to be an issue with the videos as far as I can tell
-
Right. So I guess I should look to upgrade that then (or go back to Hyperspin... ) The ram hasn't been an issue for emulation at all Amazes me that things can run smooth as pie on Android and Retropie but 4GB ram isn't enough to run on a pc... How do I test out the basic theme easily before I splash out?
-
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz 2.39 GHz 4GB RAM GeForce GT 740 2GB Is there a way to set it to the Default theme throughout outside of Bigbox?
-
Okay, I see a load of threads around this, troubleshooting etc etc and I've tried everything I have a fairly old machine, but it still packs a punch and can emulate everything up to Wii without issue, I used to run Hyperspin, without issue But Big Box - it just crawls... moving from game to game it will work for a couple then stall for a bit then continue. If I try and change theme or skin (as some are worse than others) then sometimes it'll hang for 10mins Even on the (apparently) simplest themes it's a similar issue All my images have been cached etc, so I got to the point where I assumed this must be my HDD, so swapped for an SSD and... same... Please can someone help me out here - what can I do?
-
Hmm, so working my way through manually to see what hasn't imported from the Roms folder (i.e. been ignored) - I'm down to C but it's a painful process... anyway got the following which are in the root folder but have not imported into Launchbox via the Rom import acchi.zip (Janken Game Acchi Muite Hoi! (Japan 1.3) - MAME machine (arcadeitalia.net)) auslalom.zip (Autoslalom - MAME machine (arcadeitalia.net)) bm3.zip (Beatmania III - MAME machine (arcadeitalia.net)) brainbaf.zip (Brain Baffler - MAME machine (arcadeitalia.net)) brkball.zip (Break Ball - MAME machine (arcadeitalia.net)) Now, none of these I'm particularly going to lose sleep over not being there, (in fact at least one should have been excluded in my original setup import where I told it to remove screenless etc) but seems an odd selection with no common ground to be missing, especially since I'm telling it to skip nothing on import
-
Thanks. So I've already tried the clean install and it seems to be missing some I just tried the scan for removed suggestion in my old LB setup and oddly now I'm matching the number in the other clean install So what it seems is that despite me extracting using Launchbox (which had imported using a full set), a subset of that extraction now appear invisible to launchbox, even though it recognises them as part of the full set import... Very very strange
-
Oh, the folder. Those 4 have worked in the beta. As separate entities as expected. Very bizarre I'm wondering if there is some way to easily remove additional clones / files that don't exist? e.g. if i went back to my old install (with the 2932), expanded all games (which will give me a TON of dupes as it's a full set import), then somehow clear out the ones that don't physically exist?
-
But wouldn't they have imported as separate given I selected force separate? Also fwiw it's an export that includes next to no clones (about 20)
-
Well, the beta seems to have worked (at least with those 4 roms) BUT, I'm still missing stuff... I have 2861 imported now, but I have 2929 in my folder Anyone any ideas on how to work out what's missing?
-
Ahhh That helps! Silly question perhaps, but if i update to the beta then import, can I get myself out of the beta ring? Also, how do I actually get the beta?
