Thanks guys - that did the trick! Assumed the quotes were for the path with spaces ala the command prompt

I want to follow up the super useful info in this thread with an additional question... I have the Mame bezel set from Emumovies and they work seamlessly from the artwork folder, but the problem I have is they shrink the game I'd like to use them but actually have the top and bottom cropped off so that I'm just adding to the sides (i.e. the game is maxed 4:3 but my additional 16x10 space is used by the side of the bezels) - is there a way to do this? I'm 99% certain I managed to do this with Rocket Launcher and Hyperspin back in the day but trying to do a fresh clean setup with solely Launchbox Thanks! EDIT: artwork_crop 1 in mame.ini
-
Nope. Added the space to try fix - didn't have the space to start The following still breaks rompath "I:\CLEAN ARCADE SETUP\Roms\MAME 0.234 ROMs (non-merged)";"I:\CLEAN ARCADE SETUP\Roms\MAME 0.232 CHDs (merged)" But the following works rompath "I:\CLEAN ARCADE SETUP\Roms\MAME 0.234 ROMs (non-merged)" EDIT: Okay, so I've tried directory renames, etc and there is no way to put multiple rom paths in here. Maybe it's a 234 bug, maybe it's something odd with my machine, but only one rom path will work...
-
Yeah, sorry getting confused due to the not working... Anyway, it seems to be due to me using multiple rom paths... if i remove the second it works... Any ideas why the following doesnt work? rompath "I:\CLEAN ARCADE SETUP\Roms\MAME 0.234 ROMs (non-merged)"; "I:\CLEAN ARCADE SETUP\Roms\MAME 0.232 CHDs (merged)" Oddly the files it was looking for weren't in the SF2 zip which added to the confusion, but as I say, removing the second directory name works
-
So, I recently decided to move from a merged to a non-merged setup and starting afresh to try and get an all killer setup I have the latest Mame executable and rom set (234) but when I run Mame sf2 (for example) I get a whole bunch of 'not found' errors (presumably because those files are in separate archives. How do I stop this? Secondary question - is there an All Filler batch or similar for later versions - seem to only find for 17x

I have a pretty extensive Bigbox setup running everything under the sun but as time has gone on I'm starting to realise that I might be better off stripping back to basics and just having Arcade (and maybe a few extras) running on it Before I go full hog into this idea I'd like to set up a new LB instance and run from the same ROMs etc without interfering with what I have set up already - is there an easy way to do this? Thanks!

I'm a little confused and trying to work out what's going on In my mame playlists if I launch from LaunchBox then my game launches, I have artwork at the sides, my servostik switches as needed In BigBox, this happens with some games, but others it seems to launch an entirely different version and I'm not sure why. I'm assuming this is the cause (sometimes it's difficult to tell as version seems the same), but I miss artwork, servo etc Any ideas what might cause this?
-
Thanks. I'm guessing most people don't come across any of that as didn't mention it when I install via big box. Will investigate

Love the look of this theme - just installed and activated and seems i have a load of unsupported catergories (i.e. most played, favorites etc) This seems to be the case with most themes and isn't a problem apart from the fact that the text shows horizontally with the vertical panels and overlaps everything meaning I can't deciper what they all say Is there a way to auto-generate the missing banners somhow (in the same way the games do? Or am I missing a simpler fix?

8 way was there initially, I just added 4 way and set as primary Testing with LEDBlinky Controls Editor it's working as expected. Launchbox / mame seems to change it... Hmm... Looks like I might be using 25pacmano for some reason... It 20pacgal Why would this be?
-
Name PacMan 25th I've changed the settings in control editor, am I doing this in the right place? Changed to 4way and set as primary
-
Hmm... Just took a look and changed the control type from 8way to 4way and set to an primary in Ledblinky and still switching to 8 way...
-
Thanks all! With that prompting I'm pretty certain I set this in LEDBlinky, so I will go dive into those settings
-
Okay, so this is a really stupid question... I have LEDBlinky and ServoStik set up in my Launchbox, but I've completely forgotten how I did it as I did it so long ago. Everything works as I'd expect, but I just came across a game that needs the ServoSick to be in 4 way rather than 8 way... were do I set this in Launchbox? I've just been looking around and can't find it anywhere! Thanks

Oh okay, so if I just clear that it'll go? Also with pause, should I be disabling the pause key in MAME istelf?
-
Oh, it said in the description that you needed to disable autosave as it might not register the score but nothing about disabling save entirely. If it's disabling save why does the LB pause screen still offer those options?
-
Given a few have good 10-15 minute boot times, esp CHDs it's handy
-
So I just set up the pause screen and high scores in LB and removed autosave to get the latter to work So I've set up the save keys in MAME but when I try and save via LB pause screen nothing works So I turned that off and found that when I hit a save key I get a prompt to select a save location but the list is blank with nothing to select except "Return to Machine" so I get an error that file not saved. "Error: Failed to open file for save operation" Assuming this is why it's not working from the pause screen too I haven't changed anything else as autosave was working fine before Anyone able to help? (Side point, should I have the pause key set in both MAME and LB or only in one - they seem to be conflicting a little and it varies which one takes precedence) Thanks!!

Is there a 'simple' way to move lists or control overlays in MAME? Was playing SFII the other day and one of my mates mentioned it, and thinking it would be super useful! Thanks
-
I think I've found the solution to the volume issue (or at least an avenue to explore when I'm back at home) The fix for the corrupted files would still be very much appreciated however!!
-
@SpuRge thank you! This looks like it might be my issue as well... will have a look at this later I have almost identical setup as you, volume keys set in WinIpac and in BigBox i think and am experiencing the same odd behavior! @Jason Carr fyi since you were helping me out on my thread over here:
-
Thanks, but I already tried that with no luck. It's a really weird issue I think it works be super useful - if Big Box crashes or gets terminated unexpectedly I have to go through each file and see whether that's corrupted, but you only get the name of the first file tested so you have to reload every time, for usually about 5 files. It's painful so anything to help out this situation would be much appreciated! A prompt useful, but given there isn't really much other option in this situation I wonder if it's even necessary - it's either restore or have launch box / big box not load!
-
I'm having exactly the same issue as above. P pauses in Mame, as usual. I only have keyboard control (via Ipac). I have all the settings (force / dinput etc) as above, but pressing pause just pauses Mame via launchbox
-
I have an issue where, in big box, when I use a volume key shortcut (whatever it may be, i've tried a few) the volume change gets stuck I have an idea it might actually be somewhat related to the overlay or something but this could be totally off the mark, but basically even a single press of the volume up leads to the overlay freezing and keeping pressing volume up, or just doing one and the volume overlay stays there with focus (the behaviour is really erratic!) It basically leads to a crash of the machine, it's all still running but I have to try for AGES to Alt-Tab or CTRL-ALT-Delete and more often than not leads to me having to hard reboot the machine (This is super annoying as it leads to corrupted config files, which, BTW @Jason Carr is there any way we can just have auto restore from backup if they're detected to be corrupted?) Is this a known issue? Am I just unlucky? Anyone got any ideas? It's been doing it since I started using Big Box but i've only just now got around to reporting it
