Thank you @Pacman56; good to know. I'll take a look at that soon. Beta 8 is out now guys; here's the thread: Closing this one out.
-
Hey guys, beta 8 is available now with a new "Consolidate ROMs" option under the Tools menu. This will allow you to consolidate existing collections just like the imports. Also: - Improvement: When importing individual ROMs (and choose not to combine them), the Version field will now be populated properly based on the ROM file name And in the live stream this morning we fixed a number of issues with MAME imports combining (prioritization and names and such). We're getting close to having this ready for an official release, but I'm going to focus the rest of this week on making it bulletproof and fixing any other bugs that come up. I'm also hoping to add a feature to manually combine/expand a particular set of games, and I need to adapt audits, deleting ROMs, etc. to work properly with the changes. Thanks all.

Startup Video on Multi monitor set up... Need some help
Jason Carr replied to Artraxus's topic in Troubleshooting
Ah, that's the first time that's come up, @Artraxus. Yes, we'll need to figure out how to add a setting for that. All we do is fire off VLC to run the startup video, so it makes sense that it would just show up on whatever the default screen is. Can you put in a ticket via Issues/Requests in the header? -
It will speed up presentation things slightly, but filtering and such, no, since it still has to filter through them, hidden or not. That said, with the latest versions performance really shouldn't be affected too much by collection size.
-
Hmm, looking at the code I don't see why the Windows platform would be an issue. That said, sadly I don't have an LEDBlinky cabinet on hand for the moment. Any ideas @arzoo?

New beta will be out very shortly that combines existing collections.
-
Hmm, that's interesting @flores9; I'll have to look into that. Thanks for all the details as that will definitely help to identify the issue. Every once in a blue moon we do get a complaint that not all media is downloaded, but I never get enough details to identify it, so this could be it.

I think the best way to do this @WolfRamiO is in the ListBoxItemStyle.xaml file (under styles, not views). Though I haven't tried it specifically.

Updated to 7.7-beta-6, now unable to change features in BigBox
Jason Carr replied to Wayne100's topic in Beta Testing
The change log is accurate for official releases, but changes between betas are not reflected there. @ea4492 That's a good point; we should probably just turn it off by default. At least then people will have to look for it to discover it. That's probably what we'll do. -
Thank you @Feez, I remember seeing that now but forgot to do something about it. I'll take a look at that soon. Beta 7 is out now guys that just fixes a few bugs, including the annoying errors that some people were seeing with the import wizard. I'll be back to work on this stuff tomorrow.

Combined ROMs do not only work with regions; they work with all of the different versions of a ROM for a particular game. The different versions may or may not be for different regions, hacks, prototypes, etc.
-
Hmm, I see. I think I had originally intended that to be a multiple selection thing, but somehow I guess that fell through the cracks. Per "North America" vs. "United States", etc., we distinguish between them simply because the ROMs do. Various No-Intro sets use various region formats, and I have no idea whether there's any proper logic behind the differences or not.

I do have it on my list to tweak imports and metadata downloads to use the alternate titles as well. I'm not sure if it will make it into the next official release or not, but it is a high priority.
-
We're quite a ways off from this, but I agree that it might be a good option. It would still be a royal pain to implement though as it would require big changes across the LaunchBox Games Database as well as LaunchBox and Big Box. The main issue with this approach is that it's impossible to systematically identify whether games should be lumped together or not; there are games that play the same but have different titles, games that have the same titles but play completely differently, and of course games that have the same title and play similarly. So it's a mess just trying to decide whether to lump just one particular game together, and for that reason, I'm largely still torn on going that direction.
-
Hey all, for v1, there will be no automatic way to merge games with different titles, though that is planned for the future. We will probably use alternate titles on the DB when we implement it. Also, I am hoping to add a way to merge your existing collection before the official release is out.

Thanks @Sithel; I am aware of this issue and it is unique to Demul. It's on my list.

One thing to note, it may only be happening with certain themes. I haven't dived in too deep yet to figure out what the culprit is.

Hi @Dyspare, this is a known issue with the latest version that I will be fixing this coming week.

Updated to 7.7-beta-6, now unable to change features in BigBox
Jason Carr replied to Wayne100's topic in Beta Testing
So, question is guys, how do we make this less confusing so that we don't have 100 people reporting this same issue once we put the official release out? -
Hi Sarge, I believe I sent this to you earlier today, so you should be all set.
-
Thank you guys; I had another issue in the code that was causing it as well that I looked over with the fix last time. I'll be putting out a new beta shortly with this hopefully fixed all the way.
-
@Charco Probably not too difficult to implement, but I imagine we'd get a bunch of disagreements on which scanlines to use and how to format them, etc. For what it's worth, it should be relatively easy to copy scanlines out of one theme and paste them into another. Truthfully though I haven't jumped on it mostly because we would probably need a bunch of configuration options for the scanlines to make everyone happy. I agree that we should do it eventually though.

Updated to 7.7-beta-6, now unable to change features in BigBox
Jason Carr replied to Wayne100's topic in Beta Testing
Hi @Wayne100, this is because we added a feature to remember views separately for each platform. I can see how it can be confusing though. You'll need to bind a key or a button to "Switch View" in the Big Box options, and then you can use that key or button to switch the view individually for each platform. -
@flores9 That would pretty much completely eliminate the purpose of scanning for new ROMs, since it would basically re-import everything over. Or am I misunderstanding something?
-
Hmm. In theory, the folders shouldn't be using that format; where are you seeing that?
