  1. Absolutely @angelobodetti! It's just a matter of typing a new platform category into field when editing a playlist.
  2. Hey all, beta 2 is up and it should fix the error that people are seeing in Big Box when entering playlists; let me know if not, of course. For the other issues in this thread, I'll get back to them on Monday at the latest (if I don't get more time to tackle them this weekend).
  3. Hey all, I'm hoping to add an option for this before the next official release, something similar to the Sort Title field on games.
  4. Looks like a nice interface, @damageinc86. I can see that working better for nested filters, though, or even platform categories. The current plans for playlists is to allow folks to include them in with the platforms lists; this is actually already available in the latest beta. But an interface like this definitely makes sense for when we tackle the next thing, which will be nested filters.
  5. Thank you @eatkinola; I'm sorry I haven't been more active in this thread lately guys. I will admit I've been a bit absorbed in implementing the new features that were requested in the poll. It is true that those 4 items are probably inaccessible outside of the platform details, so I'll need to add individual properties for them. They are also potentially a cause for performance issues because the entire game set has to be parsed in order to get the information, but it doesn't seem to be a major performance issue for the platform details at this point at least. Anyways, typically Bitbucket is the best place to request new features, but I like to give theme requests a bit higher priority than other stuff for obvious reasons, so it does feel like we need a new system for theme requests. I've added these fields to my short list though so hopefully I can get back to it soon.
  6. Would help if I got the version number right, *and* if the forums would let me rename a topic. Sigh.
  7. Alright guys, the first 7.8 beta is here, and playlists have been added. They're far from complete, but still very useful. You can right-click on games in LaunchBox and add them to new or existing playlists, arrange by playlists in the sidebar, include certain playlists with your platforms, and view them the same ways in Big Box. Here are some high-level things that are still on the to-do list: - Auto playlists (sort of like custom filters are currently, will replace those) - Adding games to playlists from within Big Box - A new tab in the playlist add/edit window to display the games in a grid (maybe, needed?) - Custom ordering for playlist items (needed?), currently uses the same ordering as everything else - Auto-populating of certain playlists on imports (such as Capcom Classics, Namco Classics, etc. for the Arcade platform) - Download platform videos support for playlists You'll notice that playlists support most of the same things that platforms do, because that's basically what they are under the hood. They support the same images and videos as platforms do, and thus they work great in Big Box with all the pretties. In your Data folder, there will be a new Playlists subfolder, much like Platforms. These playlist XML files are meant to be easily shared between collections and users. Sharing them won't add any new games to your collection, but it will add any matching games that you do have to that playlist in LaunchBox. Let me know how it goes, guys.
  8. Alright guys, it's here: Happy playlisting. Closing this thread.
  9. Wow, good job everyone on the sleuthing here. I love the fact that you guys are so good at figuring stuff like this out; it really is a lifesaver. I'll be back to this soon to at least have that box checked by default for Demul and I'll take a look at the LB issue.
  10. @RemagOrter Sorry if I came off a bit strong there; I know how text can be so easily misinterpreted without context. Your help is indeed appreciated identifying issues; I just want to make sure that we are as considerate as possible in reporting them. @Wattoo Listing the translators in the About menu is absolutely a great idea. I will add that in soon.
  11. Lol. By goodies I mean playlists features.
  12. I'll need information on the ROM files @bundangdon in order to figure out what is causing it not to display version information. What were the ROM file names for those ROMs? @cZ8tL and @bundangdon, are you guys both on the official 7.7 release? Did you perform the import and or consolidations with the release version or a previous beta version?
  13. @rootshell That is a good idea. Can you put in a request for it using Issues/Requests in the header?
  14. Whoops. Sorry for that, guys. Yes, I'll get that updated for the next beta. That said, yes, we really need to be civil here; the translators are donating their time and are doing a wonderful job. They are so much appreciated and I will not tolerate further negativity of any kind against their work.
  15. @neil9000 Most likely that's caused by some kind of file in use conflict either by LaunchBox or by an external application. Considering how many files were in use, I'm guessing it's an external app though. It's really hard to pinpoint that one, unfortunately. Also, FYI, I cringe whenever I hear about people running LaunchBox as an administrator. That should never be required unless you install LaunchBox into the wrong folder (like Program Files). It's also not at all recommended because it can break some features like drag and drop, and it's also likely a security issue. Development has gone very well today on the new playlist features. Anyone interested in what is planned can go watch the latest live stream on Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/jasondavidcarr/videos/all I'm hoping to have a new beta out for you guys with some extra special goodies by end of day tomorrow.
  16. Thanks so much everybody, this is really great to hear. We're working on playlists in the live stream right now and I'm excited about what's next.
  17. @Pacman56, wow, okay; I'll revisit and see what's going on there. @Patham That is really great to hear. I do have to say that I've been watching the bug reports very closely since the release, and this was probably the smoothest release we've had in a very long time. So I think the changes we made with the error reporting, as well as the decision not to rush out releases have really helped. That makes me happy; nothing stresses me out more than a buggy release. @Zombeaver That makes perfect sense; thanks for nailing that down. I will get that fixed for a beta release here soon, but thankfully I think that's obscure enough that it can wait another few weeks for the next official release.
  18. Hmm, some good discoveries here. I'll be back to this soon guys; sorry I missed it for the 7.7 release. It would be helpful to continue the discussion to see why it's working for @Maddoc1007 and what the difference might be.
  19. To be frank, @Zeromod, I'm hesitant to say it, but claiming that others are "emotionally unintelligent" is a blatant sign of a lack of emotional intelligence to begin with. That pretty much came out of left field, and that's not something that anyone is going to appreciate hearing. My suggestion would be to stop mounting high horses.
  20. PayPal's poor business practices have nothing to do with emotional intelligence; they're simple facts. We're going to have to agree to disagree on this subject, @Zeromod. I appreciate your thoughts, but I find informing the general public of shady business practices to be much more important than pure "professionalism" and political correctness.
  21. To be honest, I've seen so many "little guys" screwed by PayPal that I do not feel they deserve any respect as a company at all. Our company stance on the matter is that we feel it's our duty to inform the general public of PayPal's poor business practices. There was never any risk of litigation for them, simply a lack of caring, understanding, and effort, which is a common situation for everyone from eBay sellers to all kinds of small companies. "Scum of the earth" is in fact a very accurate description of PayPal, and you don't have to look very far to see why. http://www.avclub.com/article/paypal-fined-25-million-shady-business-practices-219735 http://bgr.com/2015/05/20/paypal-credit-scam-25-million/ http://www.alternet.org/story/153474/how_pay-pal_squeezes_merchants_with_unfair_and_likely_illegal_business_practices
  22. Thanks @Sidecar940; I'll take a look.
  23. Sadly this is probably connection issues. If you keep having trouble, you can just download it from the site instead and install it over top.
  24. Okay, no problem. I'm gonna go ahead with the release. Whatever is causing it must be somewhat obscure because it seems to be working fine for me in all my testing, so we'll get back to it after the release.
  25. I'm confused then. Any chance you could zip up your data folder with an example? I'm actually in the middle of putting out the release but of course it would be good to solve this first.
