Confused - Using retroarch but LaunchBox won't run the emulator
SentaiBrad replied to jon's topic in Troubleshooting
You don't ever really need to remove or reinstall LaunchBox for pretty much most reasons. There are specific cases where that can happen, but usually not. That almost never solves the problem. In terms of dealing with RetroArch, I would point you towards the Tutorial series on our YouTube channel that is designed to help users out. I can tell you that it is working, but you have some settings off. RetroArch takes some configuring to get right unless you utilize the default cores that LaunchBox suggests, and those suggestions have long been out dated. Click the YouTube link in my signature or click the tutorial button at the top of the forums. I did a tutorial on most of the Sega consoles (pre Saturn) that will probably answer a lot of questions for you. -
This could potentially be done with our theme engine. That's why we included it, so that users can make tweaks all they want and share them with the community if they feel like it.

Does this persist if you change to WMP?

Can you send us the portion of your settings that were messed up so that Jason can put in safeguards for this kind of thing?

Moderator Guidelines and Contributor Rules
SentaiBrad replied to Jason Carr's topic in News and Updates
Right now, they're not. This will be something added in though. -
If you sort them by date and install the second oldest exe over your current install, all your settings will stay the same but remove any broken features or bugs caused by new features in the Beta. So if you want to wait, then you're more than welcome to, but if your particular bug gets to be too annoying, you can easily downgrade to Beta 2 or eve regular LB 6.3.

I'm having no issues with Controller Automation currently though. There is another thread on this where we talked about it.
-
This is possibly due to a bug. For users who have had a lot of previously accepted, but are suddenly being rejected consistently we'll also look in to that, but the reasons not showing up is certainly a bug.
-
orac31 said thanks but only have xmls in my backup folder have I done something wrong If you are looking for the setups, then they're in the Updates folder, only XML's are in the backups folder.
-
No, it's not. It probably slipped in to the GamesDB and when we made our copy it must have slipped through. Thank you for letting us know though.
-
It must be after it's been fully rejected or approved. There is no way to remove a game once you've submitted it yet though, so seeing rejection comments as they come in is less important.
-
Ah ok, I see the rejection symbol now. @glaymore check this spot for me and let me know if you have adequate reasons. https://i.imgur.com/L8E4oct.png @eggen88 There should be reasons. It actually doesn't let a moderator skip the rejection reason, they must provide a reason.
-
You are supposed to see those reasons, and I had assumed on the Change Statuses screen that every user has access to. I can't seem to find this either though, so it could be bugged or broken currently. Unfortunately, when a whole game is being added, there is no way to reject just specific spots of the metadata right now. However, If you added it as "Tom Clancy's SSN" (Windows)", then that could be a very good reason why they rejected it (I say they because I don't remember seeing this myself). The titles shouldn't have a platform identifier, there should be a platform for most everything and if it doesn't exist we should create it. Windows currently has MS-DOS separated, with Win 3.x and Win9.x probably to follow as platforms for those era games, but without seeing the entry on the database it is hard to tell why either we rejected. As long as you are following the guidelines you shouldn't be being rejected, necessarily, and I may need to update the guidelines in some situations, either for or against. If you did follow the guidelines, and there isn't a reason why the game should have been rejected, then we need to look at out moderators and make sure they know what the guidelines are. I will let Jason know, and he will be able to see who and what. At the very least, him letting us know what those reasons are could shed a lot of light on the situation. I do apologize you aren't seeing the reasons. The feedback system is important for everyone, and the guidelines exist for these reasons for both contributors and moderators, and it seems that it could be failing us right now. That shouldn't be happening, so I apologize.
-
Can you give me some examples? If a moderator rejects the entry, they must provide a reason. If the reason is not sufficient enough or they're putting in something like "N/A", which to me reads like they rejected it because they felt like it, then Jason and I need to take action against that. I can tell you why I reject stuff, but I also sign all of my rejections because I don't believe it should be anonymous, but others and Jason feel differently, so this is my way of putting a face to my rejection. I stand by anything I reject or accept and I can have an honest and fair conversation about something in either direction so it doesn't bother me one bit. This is just me though, and not a majority of our users / Database moderators.

If they have an API, then sure, potentially.

Metacritic is kind of a joke. There is no vet process for what reviews they accept, so someone completely not credible can contribute, they take different scales of scores (5 point, 10 point, 20 point, 50 point, 100 point, modified letter grade (which can essentially be broken down in to a 10 or 20 point scale)), but then mashes it all together to create an average of just meaningless garbage. I understand what it was trying to accomplish but it got out of hand. If IGDB could become something like an IMDB that is respected, then hell yea it could become the new standard. I also hate how game dev bonuses and incentives are associated with Metacritic, but if IGDB became the standard that replaced Metacritic I assume it'd happen there too, so that might just be a complain about a part of the game dev industry instead and not really Metacritics fault.
-
We probably wont change the scale on our own unfortunately, though we're obviously not opposed to it if people really wanted it (which also reminds me that it's been requested to also get Metacritic scores in, but I think Metacritic is a disaster so I don't know). I believe ratings in BigBox has been requested on the BitBucket previously though.

I did notice I had to press my button combo a few times, like 3 or 4, and they were quick (I was being impatient), and it worked? That's literally the only other thing I can think of that could be different. X_X

I don't have any special settings for PCSX2. It's all left at default.
-
I just tested this and it's working fine for me. Did you set up the controller in either BigBox or LaunchBox, then select the device?
-
I don't remember if the -nogui option makes a difference, but if you are on the last beta it does look like we may have a Controller Automation bug. So if you aren't using that, and are on LB 6.3 (not beta), you can give this a try.

Control Launchbox with Retrolinc (USB SNES) adapter ?
SentaiBrad replied to Doitsujin's topic in Troubleshooting
If it's not in the drop down menu for controllers (Though it should be), try checking the box to use all attached controllers. What type of SNES controller is it? What type of drivers is it saying it uses, i.e. Generic Drivers or something specific? -
Configuring Command-Line Parameters For DEMUL
SentaiBrad replied to fortysixandtool89's topic in Noobs
Unless they have command line documentation you can't just put a shortcut through like that, usually. That does sound like a settings error. I would check the video settings and make sure things like vsync or triple buffering are toggled. I don't remember the defaults and I can't get in to demul right now. You may even need to try changing the rendering method. I don't remember if demul has a software rendering method, but swapping between DirectX 11 or Software might make a difference too. Your CPU type doesn't matter as much as much as how new it is, what speed is it (which is directly tied to the age, as a 3Ghz CPU today and a 3Ghz CPU from 3 years ago are not the same thing at all), and if you have a GPU that supports Direct X 11. If Dolphin is working though, and you're on the latest, then you should have the right hardware as Dolphin also uses DirectX 11 (maybe 12?) so this leads me to a settings issue. -
This is an old thread and we don't use AHK anymore, we have Controller Automation which is different. In ePSXe there is a check box to remove that closing dialogue, that is the only way to get around that. I also think that pressing the closing buttons again when that closing message pops up will also close that message and thus closing the emulator, but I don't know exactly, I haven't tested that but it should work. Other emulators that have this dialogue, there needs to be a way to turn it off or get around it.
