  1. LaunchBox does recognize the default rom names. LaunchBox will use media that is either named after the name of the game in LaunchBox or the rom file. Put all the media you want in the proper folder and then clear your cache in the LaunchBox tools menu.
  2. We spent too much money this morning... but I got her birthday presents, we got our new phone (that we were planning on getting anyways), and I grabbed my new capture card because my old one is giving me driver failure messages during boot, and the only fix is system restoring. The phone we got: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015YCRZ1A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 My capture card replacement: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CVOMZDM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I've been wanting to get something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01B4CVMQI/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_8?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1CY3GOG15DAYY But there are way more powerful (but obviously more expensive) other ones that do something similar, and also have full keyboards out there. I want the Pyra super bad actually, but it's $590 (About 540 Euro cause it comes from Germany). I ended up getting a bracket that will fit my 10" Kindle in hopes that the emulators on here will perform better than my PSP, and the bracket controller holds together well enough. Damn Amazon.
  3. alexis524 said Nice! I need to pick up at least 2 of these for what I have and am planning to do. PSX, PS2, oXbox, and Wii iso's over all regions will take up alot of space I've got Wii and GameCube on a separate external because my Wii (now Wii U) is modded, so I can play directly on the console. PS1, PSP and PS2 games are all compressed with specific formats. PS1 is compressed with PBP's and it combines multiple discs. Mednafen reads these natively. PSP and PS2 games are compressed with CSO's (at least most of them, some don't work in CSO's). PPSSPP and PCSX2 read these natively. In the case of PS2 I saved over 600GB, so the time it took me to do this was worth it. Xbox games I have too, but they're extracted so they can get FTPed in to my Xbox, so they thankfully don't take up all of that space (Xbox emulation pretty much doesn't exist). DS games I also used a trim tool for, so the roms are also a bit smaller as well. Some games also don't work well trimmed, but the overall savings is better. The Wii and GameCube games are also trimmed. My collection, all combined and uncompressed would be 5-6TB easily. DOS76 said I have cannabilized multiple externals I usually throw the enclosures out but I could see keeping one who knows when you may have a need for it. I've also run into issues where when removed from the externals controller card the data on the drive is unrecognizable so this is best performed before you start adding data to the drive. Main reason I haven't gotten one is that I can get 2 5TB externals for a better price usually. The first thing I did was pull it out and put it in my PC (also bought a decent sized SATA Cable), but the drive was automatically readable thankfully. You probably could find better deals, that may save you a bit of money, but I also didn't want to pick up more drives to take up extra space. The benefit of the 8TB is that it's only one drive. I have 2 4TB WD MyBook's (the little brother to my 8TB), and they're champs, but they take up space and 2 AC jacks on my surge protector.
  4. Of course, no problem! If you have more questions feel free to ask them.
  5. Yes you can do what you want with the images.
  6. Well no, they're not public domain. The license is saying the person who uploaded them doesn't own them, but technically the original companies still own these designs. They don't own the images per-se, unless they took them...? Doubtful and tricky.
  7. If you look at the images downloaded from the Database, some of them are jpeg's with transparent layers. We're wondering if this is more a bug though to be honest. PNG's are just the best picture format, I think, period, and excels at layering (like transparencies). Converting a Jpeg to a PNG doesn't automatically get rid of a white background, you'd need to remove it, and that's a lot harder than you might assume. Also, on the site you listed, I clicked a random console image and went on to the page and noticed there are two versions of some images. So if a transparent image exists, you can see the checker board pattern behind it: https://i.imgur.com/Gcb1plT.png Clicking on a non-transparent image also shows an alternate version too: https://i.imgur.com/KdaYJYg.png
  8. Gonna look at them at work? I think I'm the only one that can get away with saying "I play video games for work" xD. Hope you don't get in trouble. Also, not that looking at images is playing video games, just the analog I'm using.
  9. Professional and fun can be a thing! I like how Jason and I did the same thing too... They are all (pretty much) the same images, except I don't have the BigBox White logo, and he provided PSD's.

    Arcade roms

Well it's really only split and merged, those are the two types of sets, and just fine. I've imported Merged before, but I use split sets as they're easier to update. You can update a merged set, but it requires extra software or you have to re-download the entire set again. Split sets are easier to upgrade as they generally get easy update packs. Like .174 to .175 split pack's.
  12. Yea I really need to figure out a good good way to deal with Amiga. I have it constantly reminding me to do it, but I am so afraid im gonna f that one up royally. Amiga is stupid complicated and I need to work on a great way to get it up and running. WHDLoad is great as it removes a lot of guessing work with individual floppy files and it combines everything, but you've found out a big downfall of WHDLoad games. Though, I don't expect Save States for DOS, so why should I expect them for this?
  13. Was anyone updating from Beta to Release? Or did anyone who said it updated fine update from 6.2 to 6.3? We had a bug report, and we're hoping it's not more widespread, but may be localized to 6.2 -> 6.3 upgrades.
  14. I let him know it didn't attach, but he's currently doing the Live Developer Sessions on Twitch right now.
  15. xD I see what you did there. They're Western Digital MyBook's, so I just named them similarly so I know which ones they are. I grabbed it on sale for the 4th of July Sale on NewEgg for about $250. It was odd taking the drive out too, but it worked flawlessly. Now I have an empty USB3.0 case. xD
  16. There will be a feature to upload to the Database from within LaunchBox, but no currently it is game by game.
  17. As the title says. Bought a 8TB External, took it out of the enclosure and put it in my PC. Now I get to transfer my emulators folder over to it. xD https://i.imgur.com/4ThnlGN.png https://i.imgur.com/uyqJLgj.png I'll get to play games again in 8 hours. xD
  18. You could, or you can edit the game from within LaunchBox. If you edit the XML, just make sure to create backups and follow the format. Just Ctrl + F and type in the name of the game, as long as you've added it to LaunchBox it will be there. If you have metadata on a game though, and it doesn't exist on the Database, please consider adding it to the LaunchBox Games Database for everyone.
  19. What do you mean input your own collection? You mean Clear Logo Art (Wheel Art)? Yes you can, for BigBox which is apart of the Premium version of LaunchBox. This is geared towards Arcade Cabs and HTPC set ups being controlled by controllers or arcade controls. No, you don't need RocketLauncher at all. Some users who came over from RL / HS still utilize RL, but it is not at all required. LaunchBox is it's own entity. Nope, there is zero limit on the amount of games you can import. I currently have 25k entries in LaunchBox. LaunchBox pulls metadata and media from the LaunchBox Games Database and EmuMovies. Video from EM requires EM Premium and LB Premium as well. You can supply your own media if you'd like. There are Video, Image, Music and Manual folders inside the LaunchBox folder. Inside here will be the names of the consoles when you start importing. Make sure the appropriate images go in the appropriate sub-folders (inside the system folders), refresh your LaunchBox image cache and it should attach just fine. The media needs to be named properly, which is either the name of the game inside of LaunchBox or the name of the file you are importing. LaunchBox does not have an attract mode. Attract mode has been requested for a long time now, and is being looked at for BigBox by Jason, the LaunchBox dev. Welcome, and if you have any more questions feel free to ask. I would also suggest that you watch the tutorials on our YouTube channel for more help with LaunchBox. You can get there by clicking the link in my signature or the tutorials button at the top of the forums!
  20. The official 6.3 is out, if users could update and let us know if you get an error we would appreciate it.
  21. That's ok. LaunchBox just automatically refreshes the cache after you've downloaded a bunch of media so it's hard to know that when you supply it you also have to refresh your cache.
  22. That's just a database limitation. If you have two games with the same name, but they're completely different games, unless the games and the database entries are specifically marked it's going to just assume both roms are either the first game it finds with that name or the only game it matches with on the Database in that system. That would be a limitation with any scraper / database though to be honest. It's really hard to get something like this perfect when it can't be exact values most of the time.
  23. No bins with multiple tracks can't, and they do convert fine. PBP's have been tested for years now.
