  1. Update to the latest beta, it should fix this issue. If you had a "PC" system before, run a metadata update on this and you'll need to click the box to replace all metadata. We can't just update metadata for 1 field, it has to be for all, none or empty metadata fields. If your games are already in an MS-DOS platform, just run the update for that and select the option for missing metadata only.
  2. We need everyone in the beta to please read this as for the current state of the Database: https://www.launchbox-app.com/forum/features/how-can-be-contribute-to-the-launchbox-games-database/page-3#p13919
  3. CADScott said Jason, I have been playing around with adding information to the database, and noticed that there does not seem to be a way to add a new item for Publisher, Developer and Genre. I can use an existing one that is already in the database, but I am trying to add the publisher Nu Wave for the MSX game Deus Ex Machina, and Simulator for the Genre and I cannot. I just posted that everyone should read Jason's first update. There are some items that can not be edited right now, nor can things be added or removed. This will be added in the future, it is just early editing right now. As for the MSX, everything we have was pulled from GamesDB, so we'll need to edit stuff like this. This is why we wanted to seperate, we know our fans know whats going on.
  4. grus2002 said Should I do a "Report Issue" on this? No that's ok, Jason is working on fixing a VLC issue and this today. I'll let you know when it gets fixed.
  5. grus2002 said Actually, it won't scrape ms-dos at all. I'm entering various file names in the box and telling it to search and it will only find wikipedia entries. If I turn wikipedia off it finds nothing--even if I enter space, space quest, or even something like simcity. Now, other platforms(checked nes and arcade for example) can find data on the LocalDB, but nothing is scraping from LocalDB for MS DOS platform. I am using the latest beta. Is this a new bug? We recently split PC and MS-DOS finally, they were joined by our old source and since we have our own source now we split them, so it must be an error with that.
  6. DOS76 said I was wrong about my earlier post I started the update yesterday but turned the computer off before it finished. I updated after reading your post but it installed beta 9 and now it won't start on either of my tablets I just tried to delete the VLC folder in the hope that that would help. If not what do I have to do to roll back? There are backup exe's in the "Updates" folder.
  7. You could always take the XML with the VLC line, change it to Windows Media Player, and put that on the test install, but I am starting to wonder if that is even the problem? I would think it might if there are some VLC issues with 32bit systems, it gets to where the line needs to be in the XML and crashes.
  8. 5.8 shouldn't have it, it is only in one of the latest Beta's. Let's hope the fix works instead.
  9. DonkeyKongsVet said Wonderful, I was about to state I can not find anything to do with VLC in my xml file, I even installed to my C drive and did a search for VLC and nothing returned, but I have a VLC folder You searched the LaunchBox.xml and it found nothing related to VLC? huh... either way Jason is apparently super on top of it today. Let us know if the new beta fixed you.
  10. The forums won't let me post the full XML line, it should look like this though: https://i.imgur.com/jpgpfDP.png
  11. Can you two do me a favor? Create a separate copy of LB real fast and update that to the latest beta. If it loads and crashes that's fine, what I am more curious about is changing the VLC line in the XML. Load up your LaunchBox.xml with Notepad++ or something equivalent and search for "VLC" without the quotations. Replace VLC with Windows Media Player, save the XML and try opening LB again. We want to see if it's a VLC issue, neither of us have 32bit machines handy.
  12. FistyDollars said SentaiBrad said Jason posted what is available and what will be soon. Deletion is currently not available, nor is add. That's what I get for not paying attention It's ok, I didn't know if you had read it or not. That is for everyone's benefit though, I am not trying to single you out.
  13. FistyDollars said Can we (and if so, how) flag an entry for deletion if it never existed on the platform at all; i.e. Iron Soldier 2, which is listed as an Atari 7800 game, but only came out for Jaguar? Also, what level of "game" are we allowing in the database? ROM hacks, homebrew, etc.? I'm all for them, I just worry about the can of worms they could open up. Jason posted what is available and what will be soon. Deletion is currently not available, nor is add. As for Rom Hacks and homebrew's we're debating on adding new custom platforms for each system instead of cluttering the current systems. The default systems should be kept for released games. I do love Rom Hacks and homebrews myself so.
  14. If the games are named the same way then they should scrape just fine.
  15. DOS76 said Also when you moderate all the items you get this message which contains a type I wouldn't mention it but I take my jorb very serious. Knowing Jason, I didn't think it was a typo. xD
  16. Not really, but we're doing a lot with the Database so we could have messed something up. If the platform name and the game name matches but no metadata is being downloaded or found that seems like an error. What game specifically is not being found?
  17. Not particularly, at least not in a bulk edit fashion. There really isn't an easy way to do something like this. The only way I can think to do this is if you put the conf files with the exe (which you did) and then there is a box to have a specific game use the conf file in it's root folder. That's the only way I could think we could pull that off easily.
  18. Yea, images and video are tied to the game name, not the file extension.
  19. Theoretically really low. RetroArch runs on my PSP-2000, my 3DS, RasperryPi's, but these were built for those platforms specifically. Your CPU instruction set may technically not be covered by the software. My suggestion would be to first delete your RetroArch.cfg on that machine, at least for testing purposes. If it does boot it should be in the RGUI mode. Technically speaking RA should run on anything, it's the specific cores that may or may not have problems, but I don't know. Never tried running the Windows build on an old machine.
  20. DOS76 said I'm having a blast playing Super Mario 3D Then you should totally get a Wii U. The basic bundle comes with 3D world.
  21. You should get a New 3DS. You have 3 Zelda's to play there, 1 is new 2 are remakes (though they look and play way way way better than their N64 versions) and the Wii U has 3 Zelda games too, 2 remakes and 1 new. I do say Remakes because of course they have their Virtual Console. The remakes are older Zelda's but they all look and play way better.
  22. Yea it's pretty fun. I actually own a Wii U and a lot of games. xD It's an extremely fun system. All of Nintendo's systems are, they make quality games. Period.
  23. Yea, needing to know decryption keys is apart of why I say it's no where near 100%. ;) It's about the entire package, not just that it can play games well. That said, I am really surprised at the progress he or she has made. It's pretty amazing.
  24. Yea sometimes the savings are great, sometimes they're a bit on the smaller side. It'd be kind of the same with 7zip or WinRar, the games that can be compressed more will still have the biggest %'s taken off. The beauty about maxcso though is if a game doesn't play right you can uncompress it by dragging the cso back on to maxcso and it should go back to an iso.
