  1. The metadata for a platform doesn't change much, and if it does I believe it would happen automatically. Platforms can only be changed by Jason. I would be included in that if I could edit the database. If you want to change the data, go to Tools -> Manage Platforms and then double click on a platform. You can change some of the info and images there.
  2. Ah, through that feature. No, at least not right now unfortunately. I know Jason is always looking for a list of file extensions, for specific systems, to expand the list for that feature though. Essentially a list of file extensions to ignore and a list of file extensions to never ignore.

    Hard drive

Not necessarily, it depends. If you have a USB2 drive (or, oh god, a USB1 drive) then yea. Even if LaunchBox doesn't see too much of a difference, the seek times alone would be much better. I have even an internal 5400RPM SATA3 drive and it blows USB1 and 2 out of the water (USB 1 is pretty much non-existent now). If you have a USB3 or even an mSATA drive then it wont be so bad, as long as the drive and cable specs actually meet up to the proper standard. Some "budget" stuff might not come close to the proper speeds. If you are talking about a SATA3 SSD or even an M.2 SSD, then LaunchBox wont really even use the faster speeds. The average seek time will still be much higher, general performance could still increase, but LaunchBox doesn't actively take advantage of the speeds. My 5400RPM 8TB SATA3 drive runs LaunchBox and all my games just fine, with some room to spare. My OS though is on an SSD which helps, which helps the most. I also want an SSD for certain games, like Fallout 4, Skyrim, etc, but those are extreme cases.
  4. Editing a theme can be much more daunting for others though, and I would have no clue how to even start helping someone with that since I don't make themes. The other alternative is to also find a Theme (if you wanted something more than the default) that did away with those images.
  5. I don't play my games in full screen, so I never noticed before (not that I play much Wii U on PC), but that's the first time I've seen the question asked.
  6. I don't quite understand what you're getting at, but if you're having troubles scanning stuff, then I would say to change your approach. If you use the scan folders option, make sure to select the roms folder for the system you're importing, and even then, only if it only has the rom files you need. If it has multiple rom files, or extra files like DOS or Wii U, then use the Add files option. Navigate to that same roms folder and then use the Windows Search feature. In the search, type something like "*.rpx", with the quotes. You can replace that for any file extension you need, and you can do it multiple times on that same import. If you need more help, watch the tutorials. This small difference is something that I taught for a very long time. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6pTDaHeAz-WMcNURVPU-1xLN_TVpT3FB
  7. Actually, I'm sorry, I don't think that option exists currently. I got it in my head that it did, I don't know how. It's still related to the Platform Banners, but you'll need to go in to LaunchBox and replace them with an empty (transparent) image, or go in to the ../LaunchBox/Image/Platforms/ folder, then in to the platforms you want to edit, so like "..\LaunchBox\Images\Platforms\Sega Genesis\Banner\" and replace that file. Just deleting them wont work as they'll re-download automatically. I included a transparent 500x500 cube. Just rename it to the same name and replace the images with that.
  8. Unless you install to a fresh install, re-installing LB (to the same location) will keep everything the same actually. A reset button doesn't really exist, though I guess it should, at least for resetting the theme and back to default options. Deleting the BigBoxSettings.xml in the Data folder MIGHT do the trick now that I think about it... but make a backup of it first.
  9. I don't think that command exists, at the very least that's the first time I'm hearing that question asked.
  10. RetroArch already covers that list for the most part, then go based on what else that emulator does well. RA does Atari 2600, Nintendo 64, NES, SNES, Sega Genesis and PS1 really well. You can fill in the rest of the Sega platforms (SMS, Game Gear, 32x, CD, Saturn), fill in the rest of Nintendo (Game Boy, Color, Advanced, Virtual Boy even). The only cores I stay away from in RetroArch is the DOS, DS, MAME, Dreamcast and PSP cores. I use the standalone emulators for those as they're significantly better I think. You could also go over our list of tutorials on our channel to give you ideas, and if you have any questions feel free to ask.
  11. Multiple Associated Platform entries is how I have mine set up. In the Naomi tutorial, that's how mine was set up. So there shouldn't be any issues with doing it this way. I would be leaning towards rom set or BIOS issues, as dumb as that may sound, if all of your settings and preferences are correct, then that's where this leaves us. The most compatible for Demul will be grabbing a non-merged set from a torrent (i.e. "mame dome of pleasure"), MAME .184 non-merged. There were scripts to pull the roms out of a mame rom set, but those haven't been updated either. You can use the script, and then pull out what it didn't, or you can even edit those scripts to add the new games and then run it. Going that route might be the best in the long run.
  12. As for folder and file structure changes, things should have been moved over as best as LaunchBox can assume, so your install (as long as you kept updating) should be moved over already.
  13. I was hoping I'd see that and the answer would jump out at me. I'm actually lost too. The roms and bioses path is set to where your mame roms are located, right? And if it is, I see it's the LB folder, did you have LB move your Arcade roms to that location? If so, did you move the rest of them that were left behind? Are you using a split or non-merged rom set? Split is believe would still be broken for demul, so you'd most likely need to use a non-merged or make sure the bios yo have are set up properly. MAME changed some stuff up, and emulators like demul still haven't caught up as far as I know.
  14. A screenshot of the demul plugins screen might help.
  15. Well, creating a logger period would take some work, and you know Jason, he's gonna go full in to it.
  16. Sure, I think we're still talking about the same thing. Debugger, logger; Something that will give stats at various levels when a user is having issues.
  17. I talked to him about that before actually, a debugger, that would be a massive undertaking, but at a certain point I think we both agreed it would be needed.
  18. I am not sure on that last one to be honest, but both are cases of what Jason is looking to fix and why it was on the poll. It's the second most voted item for a reason I guess.
  19. Click on your platform, click a game, Ctrl + A to highlight everything, then press delete. Do what you need to do and re-import everything again like normal. Don't uncheck the LaunchBox Games Database check box, but instead uncheck all of the media boxes in the 2 pages after that screen (the LBGDB and EmuMovies media pages). Everything should re-attach automatically, and you wont need to download anything. This goes for any system. Just make sure to never uncheck the Database box, or they wont re-attach to the Database. The media will, but if you ever want to update things, it wouldn't work if the games aren't attached to ID's.
  20. An observation I keep making is that people Intel K series CPU's are most often reporting the issues. That's not always the case, but it's a majority of cases. I'm debating on revamping my Google Poll for hardware with Jason's look over, and then post it in the weekly e-mail. I get the optics, XYZ game performs great on my machine, and this application doesn't. To be honest and fair, those AAA games have hundreds of thousands of dollars poured in to them, with paid developers and a paid QA team. I am a paid staff member, but my job roll hasn't really been QA. Maybe it could be going forward, but im already at max, and we certainly can't afford another developer. So, part of the issue is certainly our size and what we're trying to achieve. Big Box (and LB) is certainly much more complicated than anything else like it. I'm not trying to blow smoke or play things up, I see that as honestly true. Going back to AAA games, even they come out broken constantly and need patching, but they still have the money, time and resources behind them to do that swiftly. Steam, I would say, is a great comparison in terms of feature set and complexity, minus the store on our end. They still have the team and money though, and even Steam consistently has issues where you go to pay money to buy games. I will agree though, if the barrier to entry outright is money (at least for Big Box), you want to feel like you're getting your money's worth. What I also meant by low powered options; Jason is wanting to make a low-fi version of LB and BB for low end machines, but I would be willing to bet that he figures out new and clever ways to enhance and improve LB and BB as a whole, not just for the low-fi version. We also need to try and figure out a common thread amongst everyone who has performance problems; Cut off a certain year or spec of PC (because too low and there would be no question as to why there is poor performance), and then take the pool and figure out whats what. Like Maddoc is seeing, and like I am seeing, L2 caches and K series CPU's. It's also hard trying to figure out who's system is running up to par, as in who keeps up with the maintenance of their software and hardware. I feel bad telling someone that the problem may be them, but it usually is, even if they didn't do it intentionally. LaunchBox isn't being shipped on it's own hardware that we can control, it's being shipped to a sandbox that can be as big or as little as the user has, with as many variables as possible. As with recent evidence, it can come down to something as little as a Windows update, what version your drivers are on, what's installed, whats running in the background, before we even get to whats actually wrong with LaunchBox. This post... isn't really directed at anyone I guess. I think you guys know most of that... but for others who don't, or for those who want another way to look at it from our point of view, there you go.
  21. Well, our Database isn't complete, so I would venture to guess that's the reason why it wasn't included. However, it could still be very useful for pairing games in your collection to the appropriate entry very quickly.
  22. Them being in WBFS is totally fine, and saves some space, but them being separated is mostly for being played on a real Wii from a hard drive that is FAT32 formatted.
