@Jason Carr Just being lazy having to go into options every-time changing settings for the music sound and the video sound when using or not using background music and thought that if video muted when using background music we could leave the video sound set at our personal preferred level but no biggie.
-
@Jason Carr No issues for me either would it be possible to put in an override command in bigbox that when background music is being used that the video sound is muted instead of having to go to options and turn video volume down to 0%, as when testing i noticed a small speed increase when you turn down the video volume to 0% while listening to music?

@Jason Carr Great update down to 49 seconds from almost 5 minutes in arcade on a Dual Core KUDOS, Is there anyway you can solve this issue when using the Videocontrol in xaml as it makes creating themes very hard selecting other elements in the grid see screenshot

@Jason Carr I just noticed something weird with the Platform Logo's if placed in the Theme/Logo's folder, I have Arcade platform's split up into different categories CP System Dash, CPSI, CPSII etc. I downloaded ea4492's Logo's (which are absolutely brilliant) and placed them in my theme folder. Opened BigBox refreshed the Platform Image Cache, the result was that for all arcade systems that ea4492 hadn't yet done Logo's for it shows Arcade Classics ( which i had renamed to Arcade) here is a list of split systems from arcade that it shows Arcade Classic's logo for instead of defaulting to theses platforms default logo. Capcom Cp System Dash, CPS1, Cave, Crystal System, Gaelco,Namco System 22, PGM, Psikyo, Sammy Atomiswave, Sega Hikaru, Sega Model 3, Sega System 16, Sega System 32, Taito Type x. In fact it seems to show the logo for what ever you have the sytem to scrape as, i hope you can follow my explanation, see screenshot for a better visual of what i mean. This causes considerable lag in the Platform Wheel.

@ea4492 WOW these neon platform logo's are really fantastic KUDOS maybe if possible could you do some platform backgrounds in similar style to go with these fantastic Logo's

@Jason Carr I only use Rocket Launcher for Commodore Amiga and have just tested it both in LaunchBox and BigBox and can report no lockups in either LaunchBox/BigBox launching and exiting games no problem and no processes left running after exits.

Any talented theme creators wishing to take on this?
Maddoc1007 replied to m693663's topic in Big Box Custom Themes
@Raskawa Your Welcome, hopefully after Jason is finished all the bug squashing in the near future he will implement font changing for all aspects of BigBox in the xaml so we can give it a more uniform look and maybe then i will create a new theme specifically for vertical monitors. Happy Holidays. -
@BakerMan Very Very Nice but bezels don't work with some emulators would have to be used through RocketLauncher or @Jason Carr would have to do Bezel support (as am not up on bezels etc as i don't use them) the best man for this would be @lordmonkus i think as he knows a hell of a lot more than me on these subjects LOL.

@BakerMan Here are screenshots of games on a Vertical monitor,of NES through Retro-arch as you can see it stretches to the full screen and a Screenshot of Genesis Game 3 Ninjas Kick Back using Fusion 3.64 as you can see it doesn't extend to the full screen width because of emulator's resolutions. Any emulator ie: mame,retroarch etc can stretch games to any screen resolution some emulator cant and have set resolutions like 640x480 and will have bars above and below game.
-
@BakerMan Do you mean the actual game Playing on a vertical monitor or a Screenshot of the Genesis or NES Platform? The monitor resolution for the screenshots is 900x1440 but it should work on any vertical resolution i tested it on a 1024x1280 as well.

Are you sure you haven't 2 instances of LaunchBox/Bigbox, right click the desktop one and click properties and see what size it is if it is a shortcut it should be only a few kb, from the way your describing it it sounds like two separate instances of LaunchBox/Bigbox, also right click it and click on folder location to see where it is in fact installed.

@Jason Carr Here is screenshot of object reference in visual studio when using the new video element and a screenshot of the pixellation that occurs when scrolling only sometime through platforms using vlc engine it is very sporadic, i sorted out the Wmp background video not sizing properly by binding new video element to canvas.
-
@BakerMan Just uploaded screenshots
-
@Hexxxer here it is Documentation.pdf
-
@Jason Carr i tried out the new video element replacing the media element both in my theme Scidoc and Criticalzone it makes the background video at times very pixxelated using Vlc engine, and in some views doesnt stretch to the full screen using the Wmp engine, while @CriticalCid media element doesn't, and it also throws up an instance of an object is not set in visual studio.

Coverflow not smooth on powerful computer
Maddoc1007 replied to Immortal Chortle's topic in Troubleshooting
@Peridot I think this would be a fantastic idea it would allow us to create a permanent dedicated cache partition specifically for LaunchBox/BigBox -
@DOS76 Good Call i re-uploaded the Vertical theme as it had a hidden thumbs.db left in the images folder for fanart which made the file larger than it should have been i wonder if that was causing the video problem for you might not be but no harm in checking (maybe BigBox looking for something that wasn't there) as the re upload is now only a few kb compared to what it was, Will be taking a leaf out of your book and having hidden files showing from now on.
-
@Jason Carr I figured it out it is a fault in the windows operating system that was never fixed by Microsoft apparently sometime when you add pictures jpg or png's to folders Windows creates a hidden thumbs.db in that folder but when you delete the pictures the thumbs.db is left behind until that too is deleted hence explorer reports that the folder is in fact not empty (it also creates sometimes a hidden desktop.ini as well, the only way to see these files is to go to control panel, folder options, click on view tab then uncheck Hide protected operating files and then click apply. you can now see these hidden .db files and then can delete then and even the desktop.ini files, these files will rebuild again when you reboot computer but wont be rebuild for empty folders thus showing you that the folder is really actually empty. Don't forget to recheck the Hide protected operating files and then click apply when you have finished.
-
@Jason Carr I just noticed something really weird if you place fanart in the theme folder and then subsequently delete that fanart it still shows in properties for that fanart folder that it is still the same size inside that folder even when you go to control panel and show hidden files and folders you see nothing inside that folder as you deleted everything already but it still reports as if there is something there. I had to reupload the vertical theme as it showed it was over 15mb when in fact it was only a few kb see screen shot before and then after deleting folder and putting in a new folder ps i cut to desktop then replaced it back in documents after replacing folder, you can check it out in the one i mailed to you previously on here.
