[SOLVED] Autokeys are super convenient, but don't work for all emulators?
DOS76 replied to Aurel's topic in Troubleshooting
I love Fusion it was awesome for so long but I had to give it up for RA. Fusion needs some mednafen fusion love to then be made into a RA core (I can dream right) -
I'm at a loss as to what to tell you if you are setting the path and then LB is changing the path that just shouldn't be happening.
-
Its moving your file that is not at all normal behavior.
-
@lordmonkusI never use the core Aspect Ratio I didn't think of that I always go 16:9 I set up a small square monitor and had games running on it in 4:3 with no black bars and it looked awesome. I actually think it was CPS2 then one of the FBA systems.
-
Ok click on Tools then go to manage emulators when the new Windows pops up is epsxe listed in the emulators list? If so delete it then when that is done go to click add. A new form should open now type in ePSXe and then set the path to the emulator after that go to the Associated Platforms tab on that same form and see if it filled in the name of the System Sony Playstation and set the command line parameters (I can't recall if it does it on it's own for ePSXe or not but think it does) then try your games again.

Wonderswan games and Lynx games for sure are a problem and then even when you switch the resolution to how you like the controls are opposite which isn't the emulators fault but more how the machines were built when you played a portrait game it changed everything left is now up and up is right its chaos. It does it for NeoGeo schmups too pretty much every vertical game I can recall testing in RA on my multiple monitor setup. Its like RA isn't smart enough to realize your monitors resolution orientation and feed it to the game.
-
RetroArch's handling of vertical games sucks period if I run a portrait game on my portrait monitor is comes out squished like it was on a landscape monitor then you have to change the view area its a pain in the ass and one of the worst things I can say about RA.

Sorry about that @Odinsson8got a call and had to go handle some business real quick. Watching the tutorials is a great place to start out if it doesn't straighten it out let us know
-
You will be running a Windows XP virtual machine basically so it will run programs like XP did. The issue with the 3d games is I don't think they can virtualize the hardware acceleration and things of that nature so it is a less than perfect experience but one of your few options
-
RetroArch has a new Mednafen Saturn core that doesn't require any disk mounting.
-
Hey @Odinsson8welcome to the community. I'm sorry about the loss of your sanity but this project can not be completed as there is no ending to it. It truly is a rabbit hole. Now enough of my mad rambling lets get your games working. 1st could you provide much more detail which emulator are you trying to set up what error message are you getting durring the import. Maybe a screen shot of your emulator settings for the emulator. I'll be glad to try to help but need more detail.
-
The settings for full screen in RetroArch are set one time and after that the program will be in full screen every time. Brad who makes the video just doesn't like to run his games in full screen so the changing of these settings isn't shown in his videos

Clive if you make a ticket link it and I'll vote it up.

remove unused images? Delete Images without game association? Something along those line that say more what it is really doing maybe make it more direct and less generic
-
Yeah purify and clean something up is way different in English the issue really is clean up images doesn't accurately describe what the process really is with enough nuance. It really is an audit of your images against your xml and if it finds images that don't match any entries in the xml it removes them.
-
Hey guys I've been following along with Google Translate and in the English version it is Clean Up images so debug doesn't seem like it would be the proper translation to debug the images it is really just removing any images that may not be in use any more due to changes you have made your games. If I delete a game from LB all the videos, images, and manuals will still exist running this will remove those images but not the videos and manuals there is no clean up for those yet.

Video Suggestion: Setting Up Emulator Hotkeys for BigBox
DOS76 replied to jrusso4587's topic in Videos
In the cases of the controller automation we are using now it is actually sending Windows the code to close that process so LB isn't at any way interacting with any of the emulators and for something like this to be added it would be a massive undertaking. In order to be able to access the save states and things like that the program would have to interact with the emulator itself now for most systems you can use RetroArch and all of those controller features are already built into the emulator so it is unnecessary to add the redundancy there and for other emulator I don't really know how feasible it is for Jason to be attaching into the emulator code. -
My desk in the basement is a 6 monitor setup that runs off of an Asus ET2410 which is a 24 inch touch screen All-In-One with an i3 2120 and 4GB of RAM it supports one HDMI out port and I have 4 DisplayLink adapters for the other monitors so today while sitting here and updating this version of LB I decided to swap out a small wide screen monitor with a square Dell monitor that I bought at a trading post to hook up to my then headless server but today I thought what will it look like if I setup this monitor to run everything on a 4:3 monitor instead of my giant TV and I must say it does look nice not nice enough that I will play with the black bars on the sides of my HDTV but nice enough to setup this one PC to run everything in the original Aspect. Any way now I'm rambling about my setup so now to the issue. I managed to get LB to open on my preferred monitor and then went into the settings of RA and did the same changing the monitor index and the Aspect Ratio there so far everything is good then I come to the Model 2 emulator and I can't figure out how to get it to open in full screen on any monitor except the 1st monitor if I move the window and then switch back to fullscreen it moves it back to the other screen really will suck if I can't get it to work with everything. Model 2 emulator could use some feature improvement to bad it never gets any love.

YOU want to tear down my shitty wall
-
platforms that are empty won't show until you add something to them.
-
I'm pretty sure you can type in any platform name you want it doesn't have to be listed.
-
Okay type win+r type shell:AppsFolder there you will see your apps make a shortcut for them somewhere then add the shortcuts the same way you add the .exe
-
@breite07LaunchBox only makes suggestions for certain emulators and some of them are even outdated and wouldn't necessarily be what is recommended currently.
-
Yeah that is exactly how to do it I use the add button in the bottom right corner (only visible if the bottom bar is enabled under views) and just point it to any .exe. You have me here because I always have a keyboard present. For Plex Home Theater it already has built in controller support so that isn't an issue. I believe that the Windows Store Plex app and Plex Media Player also all support controllers also. I read a post here earlier where people were talking about a few different controller apps that let you set multiple button option and that they completely navigate windows with their controller I don't remember the exact post so if anyone involved their sees this give a shout.

No I meant the Discord server in general.
