Ok it turns out I had linked it to .zip folders instead of .rom or .col when I removed all the games and then linked them to some unzipped games everything is now launching great.
-
using the recommended -cv which tells it to use ColecoVision instead of Adam besides that I don't know how to get it to launch the specified game
-
Whenever I try to launch a game in ColEm the emulator loads saying "Turn game off before inserting cartridge or expansion module. I then have to load the game from the emulators menu.

Its strange that you need to add a pseudo file extension to each folder sounds over complicated to me but I have never used Higans I use SNESx9 and it works good enough for me and is extremely simple to use.

That cats a d0uc#3 b4g the internet is full of them (the real world to for that matter). Its better that you just stay professional and don't respond to that type of BS. For one he sounds crazy since he was falsely accusing you of having some hidden malicious intent I think that maybe his tinfoil hat was on just a little to tight.

If using Windows 10 and PJ64 2.2.0.3 you have to run in compatibility mode or it will blue screen your system or at least it does to at least 3 of my computers.

Ok I wasn't sure if that was how you did it or not when I posted it but that is the method

Combing Sega Genesis and Sega Mega Drive platforms?
DOS76 replied to LeviWB's topic in Troubleshooting
The database is crazy I did Genesis the other day and I had two games one is Chester Cheetah the other was Chester Cheetah 2 Wild Wild Quest the DB named Chester Cheetah (which should be Chester Cheetah to cool to fool) to Chester Cheetah Wild Wild Quest and left Chester Cheetah 2 Wild Wild Quest with no metadata yet when I did Emerson Arcadia 2001 last night it changed games like capture, escape and breakaway to Flag Capture, No Escape and NHL Breakaway '99. It is truly frustrating sometimes. -
@Syriacn if I used my whole comic library and set it up like that the list would scroll forever with multiple volumes with the same name since without multi layer file structure it wouldn't work for me. If it never gets there it never gets there I'm still enjoying LaunchBox for my emulators.

Combing Sega Genesis and Sega Mega Drive platforms?

If you load many of the European or Japanese games in the Genesis category you won't get any results for metadata so it would be smart to add them as Mega Drive games originally and then bulk convert them after you have covers for them. I've set up Genesis/Mega Drive on two separate PC's and did one where I combined them all and added my own covers (labor intensive) and then did the other where I did Mega Drive and Genesis separate and while I still had to search for a good amount of box art a lot of the stuff is found if you use the distinct platforms. Now if only there were separate platforms for PC-Engine and Turbo Grafix 16 doing the PC-Engine platform on its own caused me a huge headache due to lack of metadata. -
I was setting up Emerson Arcadia 2001 on LaunchBox (I don't know why) there isn't any DB info for it every match that I got was to game from another platform so I did a Google search and came up with this site http://gamesdbase.com/list.aspx?system=emerson_arcadia_2001 and found some good stuff for the platform there was a lot of cartridge images and a lot of controller overlays I was thinking that for certain platforms we could add controller overlays to the images and I was also thinking that shots of the cartridge would be nice too.

A few weeks ago I added a ColecoVision emulator and ROMs but was having an issue with ColEm showing up in the taskbar and not on screen. Today I learned some tricks for fixing the issue in a How To Geek article and now that it is working i turned back to the games which had no covers except for a few. I was shocked to find that although I have no images almost every game is linked to the DB so is there a way to get LaunchBox to rescan just this specific platform and try to find the images. Wish I had that next button that Nathan proposed last night would be getting a lot of use right about now.

Nice LaunchBox deserves as much exposure as it can get since it is extremely awesomeness

To be truly effective for TV Music Comics it would definitely need a different structure. For Comics I do Publisher\Letter\Title in Explorer (Comics\Marvel\A\Avengers (196x) (Comics\DC\F\Flash, The (195x)). It would definitely need some kind of structure matching this or at least like Plex pointed to the Marvel folder and then all the letter subfolders.

I have a domain controller and all the PC's are clients so no homegrouping permitted (I'm sure I can enable it somewhere but never had the need) the computers are all networked together and I can sign into all of them with the same user name and password. I've seen it write files between my Windows Home Server and my Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials machine at over 100MB so it is pretty quick although when it writes to the externals it isn't as fast as when its from one system disk to another.

I have everything cat6 with Gigabit running wired to almost every room with wireless every where and some powerline thrown in for good measure (Its good to have a basement and a father who is an electrician). Have a lot of PC's/devices but mostly mine and my brothers phone are online with some usage, he watches Plex in the basement on a HTPC or on his tablet. My Windows Home Server which is always on and serves Plex out to 6 remote users plus 2 home users but very rarely more than 3 or 4 users at a time. I guess that would mean that the issues I see with GameCube are most likely graphical and making the file local won't really matter at all.

All of my PS2 and GameCube games are stored on my Windows Home server and I can't really recall having any issues playing them on my main machine. I have a few HTPC;s that aren't as great spec wise and I won't even attempt to play anything past PS1 on most of them. My core i5 3330 in my kitchen some times struggles with GameCube games I'll have to experiment with adding a game to one of its local drives and see if I get any performance increases. The thing that sucks about it is that it is a Dell with a slim case so it only has two SATA slots and not enough room or power to hook up a dedicated graphics card so I'm stuck with the onboard graphics. Being slim cased though makes it great for tucking away in the corner under where I have my 32 inch sony mounted up above it. I originally was setting emulators in LaunchBox from my network drive and then using the same emulator on different computers but then I noticed that every time I played one I had to change the config for the controllers so I have taken to downloading a fresh emulator on the local machine and just copying ROMs over from the network drive which is setting me up with multiple redundancies for my ROMs which can never be a bad thing.

I grabbed those covers from that site I will have to edit all of them as I am only interested in the front. I also have 216 games for FDS and there is only 68 covers so still a lot of work ahead of me.
-
It is strange that you can't import them at all I've never had an issue that kept me from importing anything I have a comic book section and that has nothing to do with video games but it imported the ones I choose. I personally use Nintendo Famicom Disk System as my platform with the same emulator that my NES uses and it imported all of my rom but like Brad said there is no metadata added its all just empty grey squares. I've found some box art (or I guess disk sleeve art would be more appropriate here) and added it for a few games but it is such a daunting task when you have to do ever single game even when I did my PC-Engine games it found at least some of them FDS has next to nothing.

Hey Martin I tried that at the time but the only LaunchBox thing that was running was the setup so I didn't close that. Removing LaunchBox.exe and BigBox.exe from the folder fixed everything because then it didn't need to delete them it just wrote the new versions to the folder. I'll take a nice easy work around any day.

Yeah the property windows do take a few seconds but I've had that issue the whole time as long as it scrolls quickly and changes platforms fast then I can deal with the property windows and game launching taking a few seconds
-
I'm at 9031 now and no issues. What are your machine specs? I'm working with 16GB DDR3 Core i7 4770 and EVGA 750 TI running Windows 10 off of a 240GB SSD so I don't really have any issues.

Great list I wasn't aware of the Windows key and number launched task bar items that is pretty nice. While we are on the topic of disks I have recently found that almost all of the WD Green drives I have are suffering from excessive head parking in the S.M.A.R.T. warnings. I discovered a little program called KeepAliveHD which writes a small txt file to your drive every 7 seconds (this is configurable in the settings) which keeps your drives active and doesn't let the heads spin down all the time. I only wish I would have found it before all of the excessive head parking issues. Hope maybe someone can use this to prevent the issue from occurring on their drives.
