Yeah but ScummVM has always gone out of its way to say it's not an emulator, and I think that how it handles games is very different from traditional emulation.
-
I hadn't thought about it that way. That's definitely a fair point to make, and as a result I'm inclined to vote for ScummVM being a legitimate platform, although I do think that having games added to it vs. just scraping the ScummVM platform as DOS/Windows seems redundant.

We Need Your Help! We're being attacked and threatened.
FistyDollars replied to Jason Carr's topic in News and Updates
Nothing wrong with Jason freaking out about someone threatening his business, especially a scumbag like Shaw. -
Lol no problem, happy to help.

Silly question, in MEAGRE did you go to "File" and click "Reload Data"?

I've updated every game's metadata up to the middle of "K", by the way, hopefully won't be too long until it's done (famous last words.)

Indie Games (PC) custom boxarts collection ( WIP thread / 300+ )
FistyDollars replied to Aurel's topic in Game Media
It's been a while since I've been able to say this, but the boxes have been uploaded to the GamesDB so we can all enjoy them. Great job! -

I miss this project... -
I'm gonna seed this like I've never seeded before Thank you again eXo, for doing this amazing project. I will hopefully have everything updated in the GamesDB before too long, after which I'll go through the 3.0 release and add the new games as well. Can't wait for that upload bonus during the 12 days, gonna send my ratio sky high! (I'm GameBlazer on PD, yeah the username is dumb but I created it a decade ago)

@eXo will there be a changelog of any major differences between 2.0 and 3.0, specifically any games that will need updated entries in the GamesDB? Sorry if I've asked this before, I just want to make sure there aren't any scraping issues or discrepancies due to the version change.

I'm wondering if there are issues translating the genres from eXoDOS to the Games Database. They're not exactly 1 to 1, as there are only a set list of genres available in the database, and a couple of them were only recently added. Currently the genres are: Action Adventure Beat 'em Up Board Game Casino Construction and Management Simulation Education Fighting Flight Simulator Horror Life Simulation MMO Music Party Platform Puzzle Quiz Racing Role-Playing Sandbox Shooter Sports Stealth Strategy Vehicle Simulation Visual Novel That might be why certain things weren't matching, especially Interactive Fiction. If you talk to @Jason Carr or @Vlansix I'm sure they could tweak the genres to help you out.

@eXo I've been working on this off and on (as you can relate, it's a very time consuming process.) I've added every game from the collection right up to the letter H, it's why if you go to the database it's a bit "front of the alphabet heavy." I was going at a pretty good pace for a while but life kind of gets in the way. I've since been back on board , going as fast as I can. So the good news is that it's already being done, it's just going to take me a little more time. Also, I'm going off of the games in the 2.0 collection, so if there are any major changes, they'd need to be added as well. Please let me know if the entries at the front of the alphabet are up to snuff, I've worked pretty hard on them (including submitting the clear logos from Hyperspin when appropriate.) Also, I've made sure that all the artwork isn't watermarked.

Bravely Default (3DS) has a Community Rating of 722 Billion
FistyDollars replied to Enverex's topic in Troubleshooting
There, I voted it at 0.5 stars, knocked it down to just 619047571428573.4 That should fix it. -
Ah yes, the SeXo collection...?
-
Fair enough. Let's just say that if you know what Kubla Khan decreed in Xanadu, you might find answers. Vague enough?
-
Yeah I probably should have phrased that more carefully, but it's not the easiest thing to get started with anyway. Just trying to be helpful (plus archive.org already got name-dropped)
-
Ha WOW that was it completely. I deleted the plugin, and we're back to normal.
-
No, they're allowed as long as they're properly categorized.

I'm also having a crash every time I select a game, with the following error: Input string was not in a correct format. When I restarted it afterwards, it crashes constantly. Edit: But BigBox works fine? Weird.

Just tried that, they still crash LaunchBox.

Same here, I've had to do that for several of the DOS games from the eXoDOS collection. -
Updating the klite codec pack to the latest version fixed WMP. Wish I knew why VLC is still crashing though.

Switching to Windows Media Player worked, but now any time I click on a game with a .webm video associated with it, it says "A video error occurred: Windows Media Player can not find the file." I click OK, and then if I right click on the video window and press Play/Pause, the video starts. I have no idea what's going on here. In the meantime, can anyone point me to an easy way to convert .webm files into something else? Preferably not something with a file size limit or stupid watermark.
