This is the option that you would want to have checked if you want the favorites to appear first in your games list (which it sounds like you do). Sorry, couldn't recall the exact name from memory I think this is checked by default. I'm not positive though. @Jason Carr, out of curiosity, did the number of games that appear in the favorites carousel increase at some point? I definitely remember at one point in the past where I would scroll over in say Arcade (it has one of my longer favorites lists) and it would get to like...letter "F" or so and wouldn't go any further. It's got all of them in there for me now though. Only 64 games but still. "Recent" is the 10 most recent.
-
Yeah, again there's a limit on the number of games that will appear in the carousel - both in favorites and recent. I don't know what the number is, but there's a limit. You have to press enter (or A on a 360 controller) while hovered over the platform icon/name. That will take you into the full list for that platform. You can set up favorites to either all appear at the top of that platform's list or just in normal alphabetical order with the rest of the games - they'll have an asterisk next to them if they're one of your favorites.
-
Just to clarify, when you're saying there are ones that are missing in Big Box, you're actually talking about within the full games list itself right - not just the favorites that show up when you hover on a platform on the initial screen? The reason I ask is that there's a limit on the number of games that it will list on that initial screen. I'm not sure what the actual number is, but it doesn't show all of them.

Hmm... is this affecting multiple platforms or just NES in particular? Do all the relevant entries show as favorites (heart icon) in LB? In other words, is the issue restricted to just BB or is it in both? Welcome to the forums!

One other interesting thing to note about bulk-editing the emulator and choosing nothing - if you do this, it doesn't leave "use an emulator" checked with the emulator field blank, it actually unchecks "use an emulator". This is actually a good thing but not what I was expecting.

I've got about 250 games in my GoG Library and over 100 physical PC games Not all of these are simultaneously installed, of course, but still. I mentioned the Windows Game importer above but I've tested that a couple times and it seems extremely slow, bordering on stalled/crashed. I gave it about 5 minutes and it was still just sitting there. I remember using it quite a while back, but haven't anytime recently Prior to today I would've said it wasn't an issue. Sure enough though I just tried something random and it won't let you proceed beyond the emulator selection page without selecting something. You could always bulk edit them post-import and choose nothing as the emulator at that point (and that does work), but that's kinda weird/silly.
-
Yeah, agreed @FistyDollars. I've done that in the past as well. The issue is that if you drag a windows shortcut into LB (to a Windows game, for example) there isn't currently a way to just have it not use an emulator by default. I would swear you used to be able to just leave it blank on the import though... Typically I do what you mentioned as well - just create a new entry. That's not exactly time efficient if you're dealing with a bunch of games though...
-
It should also be mentioned that there is a Windows Game Importer function in LB (under Tools). It basically searches your computer for installed games a bit like nVidia's game "optimizer" in Geforce Experience. It's really slow though... (for me anyway). I think a simple shortcut importer would probably be easier in most cases though. Especially if you just have one or two games that you want to drop in.

Apparently the issue with Albert Odyssey had to do with the length of the file name. After renaming it and updating the .cue sheet accordingly it worked just fine. Something to keep in mind if people have any issues. I've had to do this with a couple of C64 games in the past that had particularly long file names and/or weird characters in the file name. I'm also happy to report that Astal does indeed appear to be fixed in the newest version of Mednafen, both for crashing and choppy music. Yay! No more intro text flickering in PD either.
-
Ohhhhhh man... I didn't realize that at all. That makes me considerably more trepedatious then. I'll still give it a shot and, who knows, it might still be okay... but there's a whole slew of other issues that come into play when you start adding in those sort of complications... There's...not a subscription fee for this is there? I didn't see one mentioned in that news article. As much as I'd love to play those games I listed on PC...I'm not paying a monthly fee to do so...
-
Wait, what now? Explain that to me. Is it like OnLive or something? I was under the impression that it'd just be another storefront like Steam/Origin and they were installed locally.

@Jason Carr am I completely insane or couldn't the emulator selection drop-down in the importer just be left blank in the past? I don't remember having to go through any of this stuff when I imported some standalone PC games previously. I was thinking that there was another page of the importer that you used to be able to just click next on but (in more recent versions) no longer can without making a selection (I'm thinking the "move rom" or "keep in location" page?). If so, did that extend to the emulator page as well? Again, could be total insanity Seems like if you choose Windows as the platform it should just bypass the emulator screen by default. You could always add in a third option to the very first page of the importer and just call it "Shortcuts" or some such and just skip to the last page of the importer where it shows game titles. EDIT: To clarify, I spoke with lordmonkus about this in chat and evidently the "next" button is just grayed-out on the emulator selection page if you don't choose something. I would have sworn that I had just left it blank for my PC stuff and just continued on.

Sorry I hadn't seen this thread until I posted a few minutes ago hahahaha

Also, I can go ahead and tell you that there's a very high possibility that doing what you're suggesting will completely screw up any attempt at in-home streaming on these games, if that matters to anyone. It's going to focus the streaming on CMD. Just having the log window enabled completely screws up PCSX2.
-
Why not just...not choose an emulator when you do the import? When you get to the page that asks you to choose one just leave it blank. Pretty sure you can uncheck it via bulk edit too if you're doing it after the fact, not positive though.
-
I'm very confused... why is any of that necessary? You can just uncheck "use an emulator" at which point you can direct the "application/rom" path to anything - .exe, shortcut, whatever - and it'll function just like if you had double-clicked on it in Windows.

The opening post has been updated with a download for everything thus far. The "easy install" version has been scrapped for the time being because there's just too much variance in people's platform names. Hopefully once "image packs" are implemented I can make use of those to make installation of these a little easier for people. I'm looking forward to getting back to these in the next day or so - I've had another side project that's been taking up a lot of my Photoshopping attention
-
Odd... what really throws me off about it is that it works in standalone Mednafen for me... I guess I could try running it through CD Mage.
-
Ah okay, must just be a current inherent problem with the core then. I've only been converting a few things over - primarily 3D fighters that have interlacing issues (which are correctable via shaders) and a few shmups (so that I can use hard GPU sync). Anything with good sprite work looks better with some shader love though so that's why I tried Albert Odyssey. EDIT: Also...ohhhhh crap
-
Oh! That's right. It flickered in the intro. I had actually forgotten about that. Have you had any compatibility issues with the RA core that aren't present in standalone by the way? My rip of Albert Odyssey works just fine in standalone but doesn't in RA. It says something like "unreadable data in sector 0" after launching and then goes to the media player screen. The exact same rip and exact same bios work fine in standalone. I've started converting a few things over to RA and that's the only one so far where there was a compatibility discrepancy.

Wow, this is awesome! I'm...kinda shocked to be honest. The Last of Us, EDF 2025, Uncharted, Journey, Heavy Rain, Asura's Wrath, Infamous 1 and 2... on PC? Okay! Maybe at some point they'll add in PS4 exclusives and we'll see Bloodborne on PC. I can hope anyway
-
Nice! Astal was a biggie for me. I wasn't aware there was a problem with PD and PD2. They seemed fine when I tested them (briefly, admittedly).
-
Good on ya, sir. My thoughts exactly. When people take the time to do something like this, there's no point in hoarding it. Others contribute in any number of ways and we all save time in the process. I'll go ahead and move this thread over to the Games DB section.
-
It's not a huge deal either way. So long as they're actually submitted to the DB for approval that's the important part. I think that ordinarily this sort of thing would be in the GamesDB topic though. I get the confusion about the distinction between the two topics - I think the primary idea for this one is for Big Box media that wouldn't be on the GamesDB itself. Like platform media for example. If it's something game-specific and would be applicable for submission to the DB to be associated with a specific game entry, I think the GamesDB topic would probably be best. Thanks for the contributions!

Well I mean you can add whatever you want to Launchbox (it doesn't have to be emulators). If you're streaming them from the host PC and you wanted to use them in combination with Launchbox, you would need to point Launchbox (on the host) to their launch ID, stream Launchbox as your non-steam application, and launch them from there. If you right-click on their shortcut in your start menu and go to properties, in the target field you'll see something like "steam://rungameid/######". This just needs to be copied into a Launchbox entry in the "rom/application" field and it'll launch just fine. Launching it via ID is functionally identical to just loading up the Steam UI and pressing "play game". If you're asking if you can add a game that's on the host to an instance of Launchbox on your HTPC then...no I don't think so. I stream an instance of Launchbox on the host with everything setup there. The Steam Link doesn't have a hard drive or self-contained functionality, it's just a streaming box, so that was my only option. If there's a way to create a shortcut directly to stream a specific game from the host onto your HTPC, it would be possible. I'm not sure how (or if it's possible) to do that though. I found a couple of topics about it on Steam but nobody seems to have come up with a way to do it: Shortcuts to stream In-Home Streaming command line standalone According to a Valve post here (in February), the functionality doesn't yet exist: desktop shortcuts to streaming games Short of some kind of hack job, that'd be the way to do it.
