So now I'm really confused... I've moved the core and config elsewhere as a backup and then completely redownloaded the core...and it still has my custom resolution/viewport? What the hell? And of course the audio is still screwed too.
-
And yes, I do have hard GPU turned on. But I've had it turned on since day one. Again, none of that stuff has changed in any way. I've had the RA core since it was released. It worked fine. I updated the core today. Not fine anymore. Updating the core is the only change.
-
CRT Easymode Halation, 64 latency, threaded on. None of these are different from what they were before when it was working fine.
-
No, but that was going to be the next step. I'd prefer not to do that because I've got custom resolution/viewport settings setup but I guess I'm gonna have to at this point.
-
The only change I've made is updating the core. Was fine before. Borked now.
-
Yeah I've been on 1.3.6 the whole time - that hasn't changed. It was working fine and now all I'm getting out of it is crunchy garbage audio.
-
Stable. I literally haven't changed anything in RA. It was working fine before.
-
No, that's not what I mean. I'm not talking about Astal specifically...every game is doing it. Even ones that I was already using the RA core with before.
-
So I updated to the newest RA core in hopes that I could then play Astal with it since I believe they were supposed to have pushed the update downstream, but post-update I'm getting nothing but awful stuttering crunchy audio - it was totally fine before. Standalone still works fine as well... no idea what the deal is. I've tried messing with quite a few video and audio settings to no avail.

Cool site @lordmonkus. You can also (and I realize this is gonna sound stupid) go to Google and search for "Best [insert platform] games" and for most systems it'll pull up this little scrolling list of game covers for popular games for that system - if you click on one it'll show the wikipedia page for it with some snippets of information. Like this for example. You press the arrow at the right side to go to the next group. It's been mentioned already, but Hardcore Gaming 101 and Racketboy are good for finding some hidden gems.

I've got a couple of other things in the pipeline but I'll add Wii U to the list. Cemu I'm assuming? I was under the impression Wii U emulation was still pretty early but I've heard some good things about Cemu (and no shortage of posts on /r/emulation... so much so that it kinda drove me away from that sub to be honest). Is it in a sufficient state that it's actually worth looking into as more than a novelty? Is it viable for more than just a couple games?

Woot! It works! Thanks Jason One thing that I noticed (and maybe this is unavoidable) is that the bottom line in a description that's long enough to scroll always gets cut off slightly before it starts scrolling. It's always a little bit of the last line in "Horizontal Boxes with Details" view and most of the last line in "Text List with Details" and "Vertical Clear Logo Wheel" views. Is there any way for it to be cropped (or expanded) so that it only shows full characters prior to scrolling? It's not a huge deal either way. Is there an .xml or something I could edit?

Alternate region-specific names for DB entries are in the works

The ZSNES view gave me a huge smile - it brings back memories from many moons ago. It's been surpassed by better options as time went on, but when I think about the origins of my love for emulation a great deal of it goes straight to ZSNES way back in the 90's. I used to browse around Zophar's Domain all the time when I was in middle school Keep up the good work!

How do i select a different core for a specific mame game
Zombeaver replied to dalehitchy's topic in Troubleshooting
You can also setup separate emulator entries for separate cores. If you have a large number of games that need to be switched from one to another that's what I would recommend. I have instructions for doing that in the following post: -
(Disc 1) (Disk 1) (CD 1) are all viable and I believe brackets (rather than parenthesis) work as well now.
-
I've never had any issues with them. I've used quite a bit of their PSX stuff and it's always been great. It's redump.org though, not re-dump.org.

Stellar ~ RetroArch Nightly Updater
Zombeaver replied to wyzrd's topic in Third-Party Applications and Plugins (Released)
Thank you for this @wyzrd! I'd love to see the stable option as well. It's awesome regardless though. Also, when I saw your name, all I could think of was this: -
I'm an avid collector of physical retro games but every system I collect for is curated - quality over quantity. I take the exact same approach to roms. I have zero desire to sift through Mary Kate and Ashley games to get to the stuff that's actually worth playing; and I have no more desire to do it in digital form than I do physical. If I go to my wall-o-games and pick something out at random, it's going to be worth playing. I want the same thing to hold true for my rom collection. For me it's fun to research and find hidden gems and lesser known titles that are surprisingly good. There are more than enough great titles out there to occupy people's time indefinitely - there's no need for all the filler. Is curating your collection more time-consuming than just dumping a huge every-game-ever-turbo-mega-pack? Yeah, absolutely. It's totally worth it though, in my opinion. I've got 29 platforms in my library and about 2500 games total.

Here are a couple for Atari ST. Oids is probably more iconic, but SunDog: Frozen Legacy is a really interesting game that's worth a look too. Additionally, while there are several ports of Oids (including the ever-present Amiga), there are only two versions of SunDog - Atari ST and Apple II (with Atari ST being the vastly superior version). SunDog - Normal: SunDog - Sketch: Oids - Normal: Oids - Sketch:

The only thing I would add to this is that if you have the game via Steam, directing to a specific .exe may or may not work depending on the game's DRM. In some cases it'll work just fine, but in others it will want the game launched "through steam" and using an .exe directly won't work. You can still launch them through LB/BB via their steam application ID, however. If you go to your start menu -> Steam and right click on one of the shortcuts you should see a target path of something like "steam://rungameid/######" (the number is game-specific). You can do the same thing with desktop shortcuts created via Steam. If you copy this URL directly into your LB entry (where you would normally put the .exe path), launching that entry is functionally identical to just pulling up steam and pressing "play game" for that game. If you just import your entire Steam library into LB, obviously this isn't necessary, but I have way more games on my Steam account than I actually want to pull into LB, so I just hand-pick them; and there were instances where this method was necessary in order for the games to work.

Sure @Riffman81, that's no problem. I still need to finish up Atari ST first and then I can do those - they'll probably be with the existing NES and SNES backgrounds (SMB and Chrono Trigger) for the time being but I can always make alternates later.

Exactree!

Huh... well at least it's working Must'a been gremlins.
-
@FistyDollars I just updated and tested and it's working fine for me. Controller Automation was turned off in LB after the update. It was still on in BB. After turning it back on in LB, it's working in both LB and BB for me.
