I ended up getting the Dragons Lair Trilogy for the Wii. I don't really care much for Daphne personally.
-
I honestly couldn't tell you which is the better choice. I only briefly messed with Mess for it to play Dragons Lair but it was missing the MPEG encoder addon module for the system so it never worked beyond telling me it was missing that. Beyond that though I had no interest in the CD-i.
-
Yes. A while back Mame and Mess were separted out into 2 emulators but both were built off of Mame. Then a little while ago they decided to merge them into a single emulator, Mame.
-
Brad did a tutorial on CD-i using Mess: But the current Mame should be the same or very similar. I know the command line parameters are the same and I have toyed around with Mame for some of the non arcade stuff and it's fairly straight forward once you have the bios and command line.

They way I import my Windows games is just take all the games and put shortcuts to the exe in a folder which becomes a rom folder of sorts. Then I just select em all and drag them into LB like I do for roms. It will ask for an emulator, just pick any emulator at all, it doesn't matter which. Once the import is done select all the games, right click and edit to bring up the bulk edit tool to change the emulator field and leave it blank. This will tell all the games to not use an emulator and just straight load the game.
-
Simply import it like any other PC game.

I have never bought any but you can ask over on the arcadecontrols.com forums and see what they say http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=fumoqplb0an0tbuj89prb4baa1& There is also this site which I have read good things about https://paradisearcadeshop.com/
-
You can buy them on Amazon and a quick Google search came up with this site https://www.arcadespareparts.com/arcade_parts/sanwa_parts.html

Very cool, this would be even more interesting if it got the full MSU hack treatment for the entire game.

I have a multi monitor setup and this doesn't happen so I don't think it is that, it could be but it doesn't happen for me.
-
Noting beyond what is already in the BigBox Performance thread.
-
Very strange, not sure what to say since I have not experienced this at all on my 2 systems. Maybe someone else will see this and have an idea.
-
Possibly something like MSI Afterburner, I have seen reports of that causing some issues but I don't use it so I cannot confirm it does or doesn't.

The easiest way I have found to do this is to have a 2nd install of Dolphin with a different controller setup. Then you add that Dolphin install to Launchbox with a different name so you know which it is and then you can have the games you want using that install. Extra tip: Create a portable.txt file in a Dolphin install folder and it will be a self contained install not using the *User* folder to store its settings. You only have to create the portable.txt file, you don't have to put anything in the text file at all.

Launchbox doesn't work on XP, Windows 7 or newer only.

@Grila thanks for taking the time to do this, 4:3 CRT theme support was something that was badly needed for Launchbox. One day I am going to rig up a PC to my CRT TV and see how it all works

Hiding games in platform section, but not in the playlist
Lordmonkus replied to carella96's topic in Features
You can simply move them to another platform instead of the Windows platform. Either edit each game or multi select using control + click on each game, then right click and edit which brings up the bulk edit tool and you can change the platform in there. -
Hmm, very strange. I have not experienced this issue at all.

[Request] Possible subfolder in a Platform for favorites
Lordmonkus replied to TheMadMan007's topic in Features
Yeah there is no way right now to have your favourites in a sub folder of a platform. This is something I have been bugging @Jason Carr for for a while, hopefully he does add it at some time, sooner rather than later. -
Mednafen PSX screen flicker when launched in Big Box
Lordmonkus replied to Jonesy91's topic in Troubleshooting
LOL yup, I have been there too like trying to figure out for an hour why my PC Engine CD games had no music playing until I realized I had the cd music turned all the way down in the core options in Retroarch. -
Mednafen PSX screen flicker when launched in Big Box
Lordmonkus replied to Jonesy91's topic in Troubleshooting
Hmm not really other than I know when I was using a laptop hooked up to the TV I just set it to use the TV as the monitor and disabled the "on lid close" functions of the laptop. It has been a while since I have used the laptop though because it stopped working. -
I cant see why it wouldn't work since you mention it does detect your controller and you can scroll through and highlight the games. If you have any further questions feel free to ask here or join the Discord channel if you like https://discord.gg/X3Cwsyw

I'm just saying use a keyboard to help map the buttons, then you can get rid of the keyboard after. Though I would still suggest having a wireless keyboard hooked up and nearby just in case you need it at some point, it is a PC afterall and things can and will go wrong. Open BigBox and go to the "Controller Buttons" section of the options. Then highlight the "Select" and "Play" buttons, press the Enter key on your keyboard followed by the button on your controller you want mapped to those 2 functions. Play will just straight up load the game and Select will take you to the next screen for that game where you can do some extra management like pick another emulator or mark a game as a favorite.

Mednafen PSX screen flicker when launched in Big Box
Lordmonkus replied to Jonesy91's topic in Troubleshooting
I don't think reinstalling will fix it since you said it does load some of your games, unless I misread what you said. I feel your frustration, I have been there many times when figuring out certain emulators. Retroarch in particular was on the frustrating side but now that I am used to it I wouldn't want to be without it. -

That is very strange if some of your games are loading but others are not while they do work in the stand alone.
