  1. If you need some tips on setting up a portable Launchbox setup check out this video ETAPrime did. The other thing you can do with the portable setup is if you are still experiencing crashes on your main system take the drive to another computer and see if it crashes. If it crashes on both it could be a config problem, if it doesn't then that could mean a hardware problem.
  2. Either way, if you are worried about the space you can do a fresh install on a flash drive with a few basic emulators and roms for testing.
  3. Do you have a USB drive or flash drive ? Launchbox can be installed to one without problems, I have a portable install on a 64 GB flash drive and it works great.
  4. Invest in a UPS, uninterrupted power supply. https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_1_7?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=uninterrupted+power+supply&sprefix=uninter%2Caps%2C167&crid=1VJLNJWFAM9YK
  5. Ok, yeah if you aren't experiencing these issues outside of Launchbox then it most likely isn't that then.
  6. I'm just guessing here so please don't take what I am about to say as fact. But if I had to guess at the issue by looking at your log I would say you either have a ram or hard drive problem.
  7. I sent @Jason Carr an email linking to this thread but hes not online right now and probably gone for dinner but hopefully when he gets back he will have some sort of answer for you.
  8. Locking this thread since we all know what the surprise is now.
  9. Ahh ok, good to know and hopefully the next time this comes up I will be able to remember it lol.
  10. I find no reason to use the UI version anymore, it takes me 2 seconds to generate and edit a mame.ini file rather than muck about with clicking through menus.
  11. I wish I had an answer for you, the last time I used a UI version of Mame was 151 or 154. Right now im currently using 186 command line version and there is no issues reading the mame.ini file and its settings.
  12. Launchbox doesn't change the settings or ini files whatsoever. And since I don't use the UI version of Mame I am unsure of what would cause this issue for you. I use the command line version and it works perfectly without any extra work. I do know that @Zombeaver has used the UI version without issues but mainly he uses the Retroarch Mame core now.
  13. Yeah they keep it pretty much up to date now.
  14. I pretty much use stand alone Mame for the vast majority of stuff but I do use the FBA Retroarch core for NeoGeo and some of the Capcom CPS stuff depending on my mood. The reason I use stand alone Mame for most stuff is the HLSL shaders, they simply work better with vertical games than Retroarchs shaders.
  15. I think i'm gonna be locked in on version 186 for a good while unless something really awesome comes along forcing an update. Around version 178 (may have been a couple of versions earlier or later) they really improved the HLSL shaders that made it worth the updating and around 182 or 184 they implemented port audio for near 0 audio latency.
  16. Really ? That's reading pretty deep into a simple 4 word question. He was then offered possible solutions and since the OP has not asked any further questions he either solved his problem or he decided to move on. So if you are just going to pop in here and act all uppity and offended over this and apparently some other issue you have in another thread I guess I will just lock this thread right here.
  17. The first line of my response was just a simple question. The second line was the response of a possible solution to the problem.
  18. I think it might be the single dongle. While I don't use a wireless controller let alone 2 of them in my setup I was at a buddies last week and he has his setup with 3 wireless 360 controllers and there was no issues at with his setup.
  19. Yeah, there are definitely certain little touches in Music Box that would add some nice polish to Launchbox.
  20. You can check out this thread right here and see if anything in there helps you out.
  21. Post any Musicbox related stuff here please.
  22. Not to my knowledge but I could be wrong. Sorry, but I have no idea. I can only say that Brunnis did some testing and found that shaders had no impact on input lag. Feel free to read over this thread over on the Retroarch forums about his testing and findings. https://forums.libretro.com/t/an-input-lag-investigation/4407 Again, I have no idea. These are all Linux based questions and as much as I love Linux and use it on my old laptop my knowledge of it when it comes to all the nitty gritty gaming related stuff I simply don't know. These are the sort of questions best asked on the Retroarch and Mame forums.
