I've been exclusively doing that since day 1, it was the way I first tried it just trying the software out before seeing any guides or anything, it just felt like the natural way of doing things.
I haven't used the Change ROM Path tool in a long time but no bugs have been reported for it. It only works when all your files in one folder, not when you have games in subfolders.
Yeah, Launchbox mode is more of the management side of things though many people use it primarily just with the mouse and keyboard at the desktop, I do this. BigBox mode is the "from the couch with controller" mode.
Are you talking in Launchbox mode BigBox mode ? If Launchbox mode that mode is not meant for controller use though it will sort of accept it, BigBox mode is the controller mode.
Load the game and once its running press F11 on the keyboard and see if it's running at 100% consistently. If it's not then it's likely your hardware isn't fast enough to run the game properly.
There is no "fix" because it isn't broken, set up the emulator correctly in LB with the correct platform names in the Associated Platforms and it will work as it is supposed to.
You can't do this in Launchbox itself but you can use third party software such as Xpadder, AntiMicro or Controller Companion. Personally my choice of the 3 is Controller Companion though it does cost 2 or 3$ on Steam but it's so easy to setup and use and make profiles to load with specific emulators.
Unfortunately there is no easy way to know if you don't know what rom set version your roms are from. You either have to just trial and error it or look for a rom set online that tells you what version the set actually is and not download just random roms hoping they work. Both Mame and FBA sets do have version numbers when you download the sets from a good site.
It depends on the rom set the rom is from and the version of the emulator. When it comes to arcade games there are older dumps of roms that worked with the emulator at the time but may not have been 100% properly dumped. Then the emulation gets better and more accurate and that old rom doesn't work because of a flaw in the dump and requires a newer and better dump of the game.
Like I said, I just select the files I want in Windows file manager and drag & drop them into LB to start the import wizard, I never start in LB with Tools > Import.
In the file explorer during the import wizard or in Windows itself type:
*.cue
in the search box.
Personally when I import games I just drag them into LB from my file explorer.
I like my K70, the price on it is kinda high but it was on sale here at Best Buy so it wasn't too bad and it had all the features I wanted, mechanical, media keys, and had the open sides so it's easy to clean the crud out.
It could be firmware, that would be the next logical place to look.
Weird peripheral software is generally the logical cause of issues but since you said you weren't even running it that rules that out immediately.
I picked up the K70 back in April and like I said, I have had no issues with it, especially anything like you are describing.
