  1. Hi all !
    With delay, here is the official theme v2 presentation!
    Again, HUGE THX to @faeran For his incredible work on this theme :x

    So, COLORFUL v2 is here !

    • Complete new design.
    • 100% new code from scratch.

    The big new feature of this v2 is mainly the all new foundations.
    The idea is to have a solid base to develop new views later.
    In this regard, I had the opportunity to test this theme with my family recently. And neither my wife nor my children had the patience to wait for the long animation of PlatformView. My conclusion is that my design is too flashy and not functional enough. So I'm going back to working on my designs for Faeran, with more functional, with less animation ones.

    Hope you like !

  2. I found this post on reddit .
    I haven't received my device to test, but if someone can, that would be great!

    The idea is to replace the relative path generated by LaunchBox. (See previous post)

    From :

    • <ApplicationPath>Games/Nintendo 64/F-Zero X.n64</ApplicationPath>

    To this (approximately)

    • <ApplicationPath>storage/xxxx-xxxx/Android/data/Launchbox/Games/Nintendo 64/F-Zero X.n64</ApplicationPath>
      or
    • <ApplicationPath>storage/xxxx-xxxx/Launchbox/Games/Nintendo 64/F-Zero X.n64</ApplicationPath>

    @Jason Carr Do you think it can work?

  3. Hi @Jason Carr,
    Is it possible to skirt the problem?

    For exemple, if I used Launchbox export for Android tool :
    - Export on my local windows drive.
    - Place  "Games + Images + Videos"   on the SD card.
    - Place  "Data"   on internal memory.

    But before moving the DATA folder, change the paths by hand? (with a simple find and replace function)

    It's possible ?
    If yes, what format path would take?

    here is an example of current path in a Data.xml file :

    	<ApplicationPath>Games/Nintendo 64/F-Zero X (Europe).n64</ApplicationPath>

    	<AndroidBoxFrontThumbPath>Images/Nintendo 64/Box - Front - Thumb/Worms Armageddon-01.jpg</AndroidBoxFrontThumbPath>
    	<AndroidBoxFrontFullPath>Images/Nintendo 64/Box - Front - Full/Worms Armageddon-01.jpg</AndroidBoxFrontFullPath>
    	<AndroidClearLogoThumbPath>Images/Nintendo 64/Clear Logo - Thumb/Worms Armageddon-01.png</AndroidClearLogoThumbPath>
    	<AndroidClearLogoFullPath>Images/Nintendo 64/Clear Logo - Full/Worms Armageddon-01.png</AndroidClearLogoFullPath>
    	<AndroidBackgroundPath>Images/Nintendo 64/Background/Worms Armageddon-01.png</AndroidBackgroundPath>
    	<AndroidGameTitleScreenshotPath>Images/Nintendo 64/Screenshot - Game Title/Worms Armageddon-01.png</AndroidGameTitleScreenshotPath>
    	<AndroidGameplayScreenshotPath>Images/Nintendo 64/Screenshot - Gameplay/Worms Armageddon-01.png</AndroidGameplayScreenshotPath>
    	<AndroidVideoPath>Videos/Nintendo 64/Worms Armageddon-01.mp4</AndroidVideoPath>

  4. exemple on PlatformWheel1FiltersView.xaml  , but on my old version. Not the Faeran new one !

    line 33 - change to this :
    <Setter Property="Background" Value="#313536" />     <!-- for grey background -->

    line 543 - deleate all this
    	<!-- ================================================================= -->
    	<!-- GENERAL DARK BORDER ============================================= -->
    	<!-- ================================================================= -->
    	<Image Source="pack://siteoforigin:,,,/Themes/Colorful - Dark/Colorful_img/Colorful_Type2_Border.png"
               Grid.Column="0" Grid.ColumnSpan="12" Grid.Row="0" Grid.RowSpan="11" Stretch="Fill" RenderOptions.BitmapScalingMode="LowQuality" />

    line 753 - deleate all this
    	<!-- ================================================================= -->
    	<!-- BOTTOM RIGHT ARROWS ============================================= -->
    	<!-- ================================================================= -->
    	<Image gif:ImageBehavior.AnimatedSource="pack://siteoforigin:,,,/Themes/Colorful - Dark/Colorful_img/Colorful_PlatformWheel_Arrows_Vertical_Dark.gif"
    	       Grid.Column="11" Grid.Row="11"
    	       Stretch="UniformToFill" />

    Another solution for image, replace the called images with "empty" images. I put them in this archive no border img set.zip

    Extract and overwrite these images in:     LaunchBox\Themes\Colorful - Dark\Colorful_img

    I can correctly see the image of the game and all associated details. However, about three seconds after getting to one of these game screens, the game image scrolls to the left off the screen, and I am left with an empty space. How can I keep the game image in place (the middle image in the attached screenshot)?

    BigBox Image_Delete.jpg

    You have customized the theme, right?
    Normally it's the Boxart in the center, which fades out after a while. The video or gameplay is on the right in the background.

    Which version are you using? The old one (mine) or the new beta (by Faeran) ?

    hi guys.

    i've had this theme running for a while now and its my favourite. i recently upgraded my monitor and pc to a samsung odyssey g9 which is ultra wide and im resetting up my bigbox.

    is it possible to change the UI (potentially add an overlay either side of the 16:9 part) to hide the videos that shift as you hover over each platform/game?

    See attached screenshot for a better idea of what im trying to explain XD

    bigbox-screen.jpg

    The easiest way, in your case, would be to simply delete the two images, no?
    The PNG frame + the GIF arrows.

    I also have this same issue.

    I’d like to try the Beta as well but it seems to only be available in light right now (not dark)

    The last beta, with dark version, will be release soon. BIG THX to @faeran !!!

    Forgive me for asking:

    I know this is volunteer work, but are people still working on the next Colorful theme version? What do you intend to deliver anyway?

    Yes, it's progressing! =)
    @faeran working hard on porting the theme to the community theme creator. Basically, a total rewrite.
    It should not take long to post a new beta. It contains the existing (and updated views) + The new TextGameView!

    For new views, I still need time. Recently tested in family, they are too slow and contain too much animation. It's flashy, but not very ergonomic.

    Hi all!

    This theme is gorgeous, and I've spent hours to get this thing as smooth as possible, despite running a very low-end i3 system.  The big things that helped the platform menus was was disabling auto-generated playlists, ensuring only HD (not 4k) versions of videos were downloaded, and caching all images (took a LONG time) at low quality.

    BUT, despite all of the system and playlist menus running perfectly, I still can't quite get the games views to run smoothly though... those videos and info screens are very choppy, despite those game videos being smaller and lower res than the platform and playlist Colorful Light videos.  Does anyone have any tweaks or suggestions for getting the games wheels and games detail views to run smoother with videos enabled?

    Also, if is there an easy way to disable game videos if I just can't quite get it to work?

    Thank you!!

    the next version of the theme should improve performance. Hope this helps with your setup. For the media, I can't do much.

    Hmm, not sure why that would be. We'd have to dive in deeper to your actual setup. What do you mean by "ROMs stored locally but with network access mapped in Windows Explorer"?

    Never mind. It works now! No idea what happened! ^^

    For the record, everything is stored in my home server (on Unraid OS)
    There is a Windows VM on SSD which looks for roms on the server.
    For Windows, it's a network drives.
    For hardware, it's local drives.
    Unusual setup I told you :P

  8. Hi @Jason Carr, I spotted a small problem in Launchbox with the "export for Android" function. Well, I have an unusual installation: my system is a VM and my roms are stored locally but with network access mapped in Windows explorer.

    (Unraid + VM on SSD + rom on the HDD array)

    When I export for Android, I have all my media and folder structure. Perfect. But roms are NOT copied/exported. The folder is empty!

    Annoying if I export only a games selection 😅

  9. @BrandonG777 Yes, with the internal SDcard, transfers are long. But I will only have one big upload to do. I can deal with.

    Leave the SD externally, it works, but I'm afraid for the weight of media/video files for 256GB of games. if it OK, I won't have any more room for Android apps/games!

    Waiting the devices, I prepare my roms selection and anticipate the best possible start! 😉

  10. @BrandonG777 I'm also waiting for my Retroid pocket 2+ and I'm going to have the same problem of choosing what to do with my SDcard.

    I would like to place everything on the SD card (256GB). I think format SD as a internal storage.

    Have you tested? If configured like internal storage, no problem for Lauchbox on the SDcard? @Jason Carr

    Thx !!!

  11. Thx @neil9000 !
    Yes, I see and tested the latest development release.
    Unfortunately, it doesn't work. Redream closes/crash as soon as I want to launch a winCE game.
    Directly in the emulator or in LaunchBox.

    Maybe I'll wait for a new build.

    Thx for the tips !!!  =)

    By the way, since I'm in the right thread, I also have a problem with RetroArch for the Saturn (kronos core).
    When I launch a game, the emulator stays in the background, behind LaunchBox.
    Black screen if I force it. I only have sound.

    RetroArch work well with other system setup.
    An idea ?

  12. Hi !
    Quick question today =)

    I try to setup FLYCAST (standalone) for WinCE Dreamcast games, which does not work with Redream for now.
    Everything works well, but impossible to find the command line to launch the game in fullscreen.

    Any ideas ?
    Thank you !!!

  14. I use Moonlight stream, but you need a NVIDIA GPU. Work well on Apple TV 4K (1Gig network) but not on HD (100Meg network).

    Work well at home with a Windows 10 virtual machine on my home server. Work well outside home to, over internet 😉
